chapter 95

At that time Nangong Ning was too busy to take others into account. The only one she was waiting for was imperial physician Song, who was also absorbed in decocting medicines and paid no attention to others.

“Imperial physician Song, take this and apply two drops into it.”

Hearing that, imperial physician Song hurried to her and took a little jade bottle from her hand.

That jade bottle looked quite exquisite and delicate, which was of course made by masters.

Imperial physician Song looked at Nangong Ning curiously, but didn’t ask anything since Nangong Ning also kept quiet. He turned around and walked to the medicine kettle, and then opened the jade battle to pour it.

“Wait, wait!” the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli couldn’t hold back in the end. She screamed sharply, “Nangong Ning, what it in it?”

“Medicine.” Nangong Ning answered very briefly.

The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli was choked at once. At the same time imperial physician Song looked at Nangong Ning doubtfully. It could be anything but medicine in the bottle. He had to admit that he couldn’t compete with Nangong Ning, but he also could tell it.

It was far from medicine, and it was likely to be a kind of poison.

Nevertheless, he was tempted to believe in Nangong Ning, who was quite calm and confident now. So he didn’t say anything.

Nangong Ning knew imperial physician Song had found something. She blinked at him and gave a cunning smile which put his mind at rest. “Imperial physician Song, time waits for no man.” said she.

Imperial physician Song got it at once. He applied two drops into the medicine regardless of others.

The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli frowned and looked up at Emperor Fengtian. Yet Emperor Fengtian gave her a glance to indicate that she was expected to calm down, so she could do nothing as a result.

Others had different thoughts at that time.

Quickly imperial physician Song had had the medicine ready. Nangong Ning didn’t want to allow the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli to check again, so she directly said, “Imperial physician Song, divide the medicine into two bowls. Give the first bowl to me, with which I will test the medicine for princess.”

The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli was just about to say something. She closed her mouth immediately when she heard Nangong Ning’s word. Obviously Nangong Ning said this to shut her up, so she could say nothing now.

Imperial physician Song divided the medicine and took one bowl of it to Nangong Ning at first. At that moment Junqian Ye stood some foots away with his hands behind him. He was looking at Nangong Ning, eyes quite dark and expression cold. People could not read any mood in his face, but Nangong Ning felt like Jun Qianye’s sight was extremely sharp. She felt her eyebrows jumped.

She looked up there, and explained actively, “I am loath to die.”

Jun Qianye didn’t answer her. Nangong Ning didn’t feel embarrassed as well. The only difference was that other people’s expressions were frozen.

Though it seemed that the Regent behaved distantly to Nangong Ning, they all felt there were some strange matters between them.

Nangong Ning didn’t pay attention to any other one at all. At this stage, if she didn’t detoxify it she would certainly lose her life.

She raised her head and drank this bowl of dark, bitter medicine to the very last drop.

“So bitter. Do you have any candies, imperial physician Song?” Nangong Ning herself didn’t imagine that the medicine could be so bitter.

Imperial physician Song hurriedly handed her a plate of preserves. Nangong Ning directly put a handful of them and squeezed them in her mouth. It took her a long time to chew them and finally came back to life.

Seeing her actions, all the people had the thought: how could Nangong Ning be so rough? A girl like her must be rejected by the Regent. With such an idea, all the people looked at Jun Qianye, but they were disappointed to see that Jun Qianye still wore his poker face without any mood.

Nangong Ning, who had recovered, stood up and walked to the arhat bed on which Princess Qingle lied.

The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli rushed to there and said, “It must be me that feed her.”

“Highest-ranking imperial concubine should betterget out of the way. To feed the medicine also has the technical content. And every one may have different thoughts. Once the medicine is wasted because of any unpredictable things, I have no time to make it again.” Nangong Ning said ironically. She didn’t want to be kind in front of this malevolent mother.

The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli was enraged and gnashed her teeth. Yet Empress Xun also began to speat at the moment, “Ning Er is right. Highest-ranking imperial concubine, you are a layman of that so it must be better to let Ning Er do that. I can understand you are anxious about Qingle, but you are expected to balance priorities.”

The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli just wanted to box Empress Xun’s ears. Of course Empress Xun was satirizing her, but she could not admit it. The only thing she could do was to look at Emperor Fengtian femininely.

Emperor Fengtian, however, worried about his daughter truly. “My beloved imperial concubine, let Nangong Ning do it.” he comforted as a result.

The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli was extremely angry. She clenched her fists and looked straight at Nangong Ning as if her sight was deadly poisonous.

Nangong Ning treated her as air directly. She propped up Princess Qingle and motioned imperial physician Song to bring the bowl of medicine. Then she put Princess Qingle on her arm and opened the mouth with another hand. Under her instructions, imperial physician Song slowly dropped the medicine.

Fortunately, Princess Qingle still had her unconscious swallowing ability though she was in a coma. It took quite a long time, but in the end she drank the medicine to the very last drop.

After that, Nangong Ning held Princess Qingle and stroked her back. When she knew that Princess Qingle had swallowed all the medicine and would not vomit, Nangong Ning let her lie down.

Emperor Fengtian came up. Seeing that his daughter was still in the coma, he asked, “When will she wake up?”

Nangong Ning didn’t answer. Instead, she rolled up Princess Qingle’s sleeve. A section of arm was shown before Emperor Fengtiandi.

Emperor Fengtian frowned sharply when he saw her daughter’s tender arm was thickly covered with red dots.

“What’s that?”

“Your Majesty, Princess has got allergy. A part of the medicine I have just let her take can help her sleep. Once she wakes up now, she will suffer from pain. And if she scratches at random, she is likely to add scars on her skin. So, she won’t wake up until all of these red dots have disappeared.”

Emperor Fengtian. He knew exactly that Princess Qingle was susceptible, so now he was not suspicious of Nangong Ning.

The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli was not reconciled. She came up and asked, ”So when would she wake up?”

“At least twelve hours, or a full daytime.” Nangong Ning replied calmly as well.

“So long!” The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli couldn’t help screaming again.

Nangong Ning raised her lips and said coldly, “Of course. Don’t tell me you know nothing about it.”

“How dare you!” the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli raged at once, and glared at Nangong Ning in anger.

Nangong Ning ignored her. She just calmly recommended, “Your Majesty, princess will be all right when she wakes up, but I have one more suggestion.”

“Say it.” said Empress Fengtian.

Nangong Ning slightly curled up her lips, and then said, “I have been to highest-ranking imperial concubine’s Lihua Palace. I found it is truly splendid and magnificent. The yard is full of rare flowers and trees. When I was in there, I felt like if I were in the paradise.”

Why did she suddenly speak highly of my palace? The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli had a curious look on her face. Emperor Fengtian also didn’t get it so he looked at Nangong Ning in wonder.

Nangong Ning added, “Our princess has a strange body constitution. When she is young, she is expected to be kept away from pollens and dusts from plants. So, I think it will be better if Princess Qingle doesn’t spend too much time in Lihua Palace.”

“How…how dare you!” hearing that, the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli raged again in a second. Nangong Ning wanted to break up her and her daughter!

She had only one daughter now, and this daughter was beloved by Emperor Fengtian, which ensured her to stand in the palace.

“Didn’t imperial physicians say my suggestion to you, highest-ranking imperial concubine?” Nangong Ning didn’t feel anxious at all. She just indifferently looked at the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli.

The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli was momentarily stuck.

It was true that imperial physicians once said that, so Princess Qingle was accommodated in the wing room of Lihua Palace. There were few plants around the wing room. Instead, decorations were mostly jades which were quite clean and didn’t absorb dusts. She also had thought for her.

“There are not flowers and plants in the wing room princess lives in!” the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli said in anger.

Nangong Ning shook her head gently and said, “Even so, it is improper. All kinds of flowers are blooming just out of the wing room, and rare trees can be seen everywhere, so princess is still likely to be affected. What’s more, the reason for princess’ condition today is that she inhaled a kind of pollen, which I remember doesn’t exist in the place where princess played but in Lihua Palace.”

The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli was blue and pale in the face, which looked so terrible. She stared at Nangong Ning, but Nangong Ning was not afraid because what she said was the truth. She didn’t fear investigation.

“I take her point, Your Majesty. I wonder if you can bring princess to me and let me raise her. There are not many flowers and trees in Fengyi Palace.” Empress Xun suddenly cut in honestly.

The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli looked at Empress Xun in astonishment. Empress Xun, however, gently smile to her and said, ”Don’t worry, highest-ranking imperial concubine. I love princess very much. I will certainly take good care of her.”

“Empress,” the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli was gnashing her shiny teeth, restraining her anger which was about to erupt. “I appreciate your kindness, but princess is not expected to bother you.” said her.

Empress Xun gently raised her lips, and looked at Emperor Fengtian. The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli, at the same time, looked at Emperor Fengtian in panic.

Emperor Fengtian’s face fell slightly. “Nangong Ning is right. Yet princess doesn’t have to go to Fengyi Palace. She is already six years old this year, and I should gave her a separate palace.”

A mood of disappointment emerged in Empress Xun’s eyes, but she quickly hid it. She didn’t truly want to raise Princess Qingle. Her goal was to provoke the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli.

“You are right, Your Majesty. Princess needs her own palace indeed.”

Hearing that, the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli knew her daughter was doomed to leave her palace. Her resentment increased in mind. All of these were due to Nangong Ning! She detested her! She would never excuse this humble girl!

Looking at Emperor Fengtian, she suddenly dropped to her knees!

Such an action attracted all the visions.

The highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli kowtowed for many times, and then looked up at Emperor Fengtian. “Your Majesty, please uphold justice for Qingle and me!”

Once more! Nangong Ning’s eyes frozen. She coldly looked at the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli.

Emperor Fengtian put out his hand to raise the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli up. Yet she didn’t stand up and was just in flood of tears. It made people feel sorry for her.

“Your Majesty, Nangong Ning had the nerve to poison princess. Princess grows up in the palace and never did she have any resentments between others. She was poisoned like this, so I am really scared. Your Majesty, please uphold justice for my daughter and me!”

Empress Xun couldn’t help asking, “Highest-ranking imperial concubine, why do you…”

“What do I do? Do you think Nangong Ning can get away with it now? Does she have any witnesses or evidences which can prove that it was not she that had poisoned?” the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli interrupted Empress Xun and shouted loudly like a mad woman.

Nangong Ning rubbed her eyebrow aside. She really didn’t have evidence, not to mention witnesses.

She could not be proved innocent if the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli simply insisted on this point.

The only one who could help her was probably Princess Qingle, who was still in a coma. However, it was up to twelve hours so she thought the highest-ranking imperial concubine Anli had plenty of opportunities to kill her!
