Volume 01 – How Am I Supposed To Date My Sister?
Chapter 01 – Answer to Confession (Part 1)
A tremendous event occurred the day before I entered high school…
My sister confessed her feelings for me.
Since it’s before the start of school, is it then classified as the last event in middle school…?
Well, such details don’t matter. Anyway, the start of high school was a tumultuous one.
But I was wondering what to do about it… As I can’t brag to anyone that my sister confessed to me, on the contrary, it could be traumatic if people were to know about it…
I had no idea how to handle this situation.
My sister smiled as best she could with her tear-stained eyes and
“Then… when can I get an answer?” She asked…
She’s probably afraid of what answer I’ll give… but she seems to be forcing herself to smile a little toying with me, wanting to show a smile rather than a cry.
But even if she told me that, there was no way I could say when.
“It must be tough now with the start of high school. Can you wait until things settle for now?”
I managed to mend the situation after my upset.
My sister still wanted to say something, but seems like she didn’t want to annoy me any more.
“… alright.”
She said just one word and went back to her room, wiping away her tears.
I fell straight into bed and buried my face in the pillow to calm myself down.
“Why did she ask me out?”
With a mumble, thoughts of my sister run through my head.
My sister and I were always together in kindergarten, elementary school, and junior high school because our parents were busy and left us mostly alone.
I didn’t have any other siblings around, but I don’t think there’s a huge difference between my few friends (don’t ever ask about it) and us siblings.
We were supposed to be normal siblings, not particularly close or estranged…
I never dreamed that my sister had romantic feelings for me.
“How is it possible that my sister, who is perfect in every way, is in love with me? No, I mean, isn’t she just out of my league? She must be kidding, right?”
If I said yes by any chance, with a straight face.
“Eww, Onii-chan were you serious? How unsightly.” I can imagine her saying that.
But when I saw my sister, with that serious face, with those tears, I don’t think she’s lying.
“I don’t know anymoreeeeeeeeeeee”
Hours passed by in agony, with my face buried in the pillow.

The next day, the morning of the entrance ceremony.
“Uwaa— I don’t know if I slept or not…”
My sister confessed to me yesterday, but nothing has changed, it’s a normal morning.
“Good morning Onii-chan, it’s morning, you have to wake up…(smile)”
What a surprise, my sister didn’t wake me up like a certain ex-vampire sister, I woke up with my alarm as usual and went downstairs wearing my brand new uniform.
Our family lives in a single house in the suburbs of Tokyo. My father, who is a salaryman, bought the house with a little too much effort a long time ago, so my parents are both working.
Upstairs are bedrooms for me and my sister, and downstairs are for my parents.
There are two other rooms on the first floor, a living room and a dining room/kitchen, but it’s just a small house.
My father goes out early and comes back late every day. When I enter the kitchen, he’s already gone and it’s just my mother and my sister.
My sister was nibbling on a piece of bread in front of my mother.
“Moarning, Onii-chan.”
My sister greeted me as usual while I took the bread.
“Oh, un, good, morning…”
I tried to greet her as normally as possible, biting my tongue somewhat, but managed to speak to her and join her at the table.
“Sorry, Mom and Dad couldn’t make it to the ceremony. We are busy in April.”
My mom put her hands together and apologized.
“Parents are not required to come to the entrance ceremony, right, Onii-chan?”
“Yeaah”
Here, I can’t get the things out of my head from yesterday… How can my sister be acting normal?
Was I dreaming by any chance? So I thought…
“Oni-chan, we should get going, or we’re going to be late. I’m done eating. So I’ll go ahead.”
My sister gets up, grabs her bag, and leaves the kitchen.
As usual we are not going together. Well, we also went to middle school separately.
Was she kidding me about yesterday’s confession?
Or was it just a dream?
While slowly biting the bread, I thought.
“How much time do you have?”
As my mother called out to me, I looked at my watch and saw that it had been half an hour since my sister had left.
“Whoa! I’m off!”
I rushed out of the house, with a piece of bread in my mouth.
####
Biting into the piece of bread I ran as fast as I could. And finally managed to arrive at the entrance ceremony without bumping into a beautiful girl on the corner of the street and falling in love with her.
Our high school only has a small gymnasium, so they rented a nearby hall for the entrance ceremony.
Because I came late, the seats were already almost full.
Taking an empty seat, I took a breath and looked around.
I don’t know where she is. Well, we’re separated as usual.
Not as much as usual, though it made me think about yesterday all over again.
My sister confessed to me with tears in her eyes, “Go out with me, Onii-chan”
While I was agonizing over it, the entrance ceremony was over, skipping over everything like the beautiful student council president, the beautiful new student representative, and the homeroom announcement by the young female teacher.
No, I don’t even know if she was here or not.
At the end of the ceremony, a paper was distributed to the students announcing their class.
I looked for my name, I looked for my sister, and I found her name was right above me.
“Same class as Shiori… huh.”
I left the entrance ceremony hall, feeling quite anxious about my high school life starting tomorrow.
####
When I got home, my sister wasn’t home yet.
I went back to my room, changed my clothes, and was agonizing over it all over again.
“I’m home!” That’s when my sister’s voice came from downstairs.
I didn’t say when I’d reply to her confession, but I don’t think I’ll be able to live my high school life properly from tomorrow at this rate.
But I don’t know how to tell her.
I thought about it for a while, but no good ideas or words came to mind.
“Uwooo—, yoshi! There’s no point in grumbling!”
If I could just get my sister in front of me, maybe I’d know what to do.
And if I say exactly how I feel at that moment, it might convey something.
To give it a shot I went downstairs.
On the couch in the living room, I found her playing with her smartphone in her school uniform.
As I was about to move, I heard a beeping sound from her mobile.
She must be in Line with a friend? It’s nice to have a bunch of friends…
I put my mind to it again and walked into the living room, my sister looked up and smiled when she saw me.
“Onii-chan, I’m home— Hey, did you see the student council president, she’s really pretty, and wasn’t the freshmen student representative super cute too? And my homeroom teacher is super young and beautiful… Oh, and Onii-chan is in the same class as me… We haven’t been together since elementary school…”
My sister said so with enthusiasm…
Hum? Seriously, there was a beautiful student council president, a beautiful freshmen student representative, and a young female teacher.
God damn it!
No, no, no, I don’t care… This is not the right time to worry about that.
“Shiori, can I talk to you about yesterday?”
The face that was smiling earlier instantly sombered as I looked at her with a serious gaze.
“Un…”
My heart aches to see her sad face, but I have to say it right.
I sat down in front of my sister, who had her head down, and asked her by summoning some courage.
“Did you mean what you said yesterday?”
“Un…”
“I-is that so, since when…?”
“I don’t know…”
She shook her head, her small body trembled slightly, as she held her phone tightly.
“In what way do you want to go out with me?”
“……”
“I don’t think I need to tell you, but you know siblings can’t get married.”
“… Un.”
“To be honest, I’ve never been with a girl before, so I don’t know what it’s like or how to go out with one, especially since it will be my sister.”
Tears fell into her hands as she clenched her phone even tightly…
“You are my precious, dear little sister, whom I cherish the most. I don’t want to make you cry or to get hurt.” [Yuu]
“Then…” [Shiori]
My sister looked up and straightened her back, as if she felt that she would be refused.
With tears streaming down her face.
“Let’s go out as brother and sister.” [Yuu]
“Huh?” [Shiori]
She looked at me with her big eyes with tears streaming down her face and let out a small, strange cry.
TLN- “Onii-chan” kinda feel weird to me, what you guys say? Should I keep using Onii-chan or just brother? Anyways, let me know if you enjoying it or not, dem, I’ll see how long I can continue this, currently I’m the only one working on it, dem. anyways, see you soon.
