Knox who fidgeting with his spoon, soon he opened his mouth.

“You got hurt at night and if you get hurt everyday…”

“What?”

“Then, does it not hurt for Amy?”

As if he was nervous, his breathes were shallow as he whispered. All this time, the boy’s eyes alternated between my hand to my eyes.

“Uhm, so what Knox is saying is that I shouldn’t go anywhere and I shouldn’t get hurt?”

He nodded his head.

My gaze shifted and landed on the boy’s slightly wet forehead.

“You won’t have to worry about that anymore. It won’t happen anymore in the future.”

Although I went to the abandoned house once, only one out of the three books that we found were useful. The other two books were on history. So, there probably won’t be any reason to go there again?

After reaching that conclusion, I spoke gently.

“This time, I went out specially to help you.”

“Specially?”

It was only for a moment but Knox frowned. I didn’t know why but he looked a little sullen and tilted his head. It was probably because he couldn’t understand that word.

Fortunately, Knox ate up all the remaining porridge afterward. Even though I didn’t say anything, Knox swallowed down the medicine wordlessly.

“Just to swallow these, my sister would whine a lot. You did well, Knox.”

“Well?”

“Yes, you did well. Now, let’s sleep.”

I squatted down and buttoned his new clothes up before giving a low laugh. As I looked at the feverish boy, I confessed something I had kept hidden sincerely.

“Actually, when you’re sick, I feel uncomfortable.”

If Knox had been able to run alone, his hands and legs would be more able to move. Then, he wouldn’t have had to get hurt like this. It’s not that I was blaming myself, but I couldn’t feel nothing looking at someone who was so pale and injured because of me. I felt the same for my sister who helped hunt and gather food for me.

“That’s why, don’t get hurt anymore.”

The boy fidgeted before reaching his hands out.

“Amy too.”

Knox, who was clasping the hems of my clothes, raised his head slowly.

“Don’t get hurt.”

His cheeks were then dyed slightly red.

“… I’ll get hurt for you.” 2
