### Day Eight in the Other World
I went to the kitchen early in the morning to continue from where I left off yesterday.
Since there was no longer a need to hide my hair and eye color, I just changed into a maid's uniform and was walking around when Vincent spotted me and asked, "Are you planning to become a maid?"
No, I'm planning to run away soon.
Of course, I didn't say that. When I mentioned making pastries, he understood, but he said quite seriously that if I really wanted to be a maid, he could introduce me to a good place. I thanked him and laughed it off. He's a good person.
When I got to the kitchen, there were more chefs and merchants than yesterday, and the ingredients were more plentiful. The head chef, who looked like the Godfather from a movie, asked me with a lot of enthusiasm, "What are we making today?!" and I was a bit taken aback. Thinking to myself that I was just there to eat, I started working silently since I was the one who initiated it.
- Something like pudding
- Financiers?
- Cookies, maybe?
- Does it look like a cake?
And so on...
I tried to recall some recipes and gave a few ideas, and the enthusiastic chefs moved around the spacious kitchen like they were flying, creating one interesting thing after another.
At first, I was moving my hands, but gradually, I started tasting the creations and discussing how to improve them, and talking with the merchants about the ingredients.
I'm going to get fat.
I need to do some exercise.
By the way, the merchants are really interested.
I'm just explaining things that exist in my original world, but apparently, the way these ingredients are used and the ideas are quite novel here. One merchant even offered, "Could you stay as a consultant for my household during your stay?" I was about to politely decline when other merchants started saying, "Then please come to our place as well!" and it turned into quite a commotion.
No, I'm planning to run away.
I can't say that, though. I thanked them and politely declined their offers, which seemed to be based on potential profit.
For dessert at lunch, some good trial products were served. Tenon was very pleased with the delicious pastries, and I was also satisfied after eating them. Apparently, the king and queen had also tasted them without my knowledge. At dinner, the prince thanked me, saying, "It was delicious," and I quietly got annoyed.
The queen is fine, but the king.
I didn't make it for you.
I have another reason to attack you in the dark.
Sigh...
For now, I'll endure.
### Night
Today is the main event.
I went to my room early, saying I was going to sleep, turned off the lights, and used magic to make it look like I was still in the room before sneaking out.
The surveillance continues even at night.
Ah, you've been working hard.
The author of [The Blood-Stained Grimoire] is quite a bad person, but they had some useful magic, like creating a simple copy of myself to hide my absence and using an illusion to make me invisible. I used these spells without hesitation to head for the castle's underground.
I had been wandering around the castle for days, so I had a good idea of where things were suspicious. I crossed the "darkness" to enter a hidden passage, used my altered eyes to find a room sealed by magic, and broke in again.
"Ah, a hit?"
I found a dusty library pretty easily. The fact that it had been neglected for a long time made it a perfect [Forgotten Forbidden Library]. The maid's ghost stories were really helpful. But...
"I can't read this."
Most of the books here are not in [Ancient Language]. I came here secretly, making sure no one would notice.
This is a letdown...
"Well, can't be helped."
I'll deal with the text later. For now, I'll take them. I created another subspace and threw all the books from the library into it. I couldn't tell which ones were important and which weren't.
With that, my night walk was over. I went back to my room and went to sleep.
Rio, you've obtained the second forbidden book by taking the entire library. After supervising the kitchen for a day (actually, I didn't do much work). ...Yeah. I'm steadily making progress on the back roads.
