Chapter 41

The next day, Yang Jian woke up very early.

Since becoming a Ghost Tamer, he gradually noticed some changes in his body due to the Ghost Eye.

The most obvious change was that he found himself sleeping less and less, but he didn't feel tired at all.

"Only six hours of sleep?"

Yang Jian washed his face, looking at himself in the mirror.

He didn't look haggard; instead, he exuded a cold and distant aura that even made him feel unfamiliar with himself.

He looked at the red paper on the back of his hand.

After a night, he didn't feel the torment of the Ghost Eye's revival, and he slept very soundly.

However, there was a barely noticeable crack on the red paper.

"Is this red paper just a temporary solution? Or is it because it's just a fragment and not complete?" Yang Jian收回目光,不禁揉了揉脑.

"It seems that solving this half-dead, half-alive condition isn't as easy as I thought."

Indeed.

A global disaster had occurred, and supernatural events were happening all over the world.

No one who became a Ghost Tamer had found a way to survive, so how could he find a solution on his own?

The red paper suppressing the Ghost Eye's revival was just a lucky discovery.

"Wait, wait."

Yang Jian suddenly remembered the parchment.

He took it out of his pocket and opened it.

The parchment read:

"Today I woke up very early. I gradually realized that my body is being influenced by the Ghost Eye. This influence is subtle, as I've noticed that I've been sleeping less and less recently... If this continues, I estimate that I'll soon be able to stay awake all day and night.

"I've heard that ghosts don't need to sleep, and this might be true.

"When I got this from Fang Jing, he said you knew the way for Ghost Tamers to survive. I believe he didn't lie, so you must have the key clues."

Yang Jian stared at the parchment: "If you tell me, I'll reconsider your existence."

The parchment wrote: "I want to survive. I'm gradually experiencing the pain of being a Ghost Tamer. The pressure of death, the worry of the Ghost Eye's revival, and the changes in myself... This is not something I should bear at my age. Today, I couldn't help but ask the strange human skin again, but I didn't get the answer I wanted... The human skin didn't give me any useful information."

Or perhaps, the human skin contains some secrets but refuses to reveal them.

What is it hiding?

Yang Jian's expression changed as he read the words.

At school, he once thought the parchment had its own consciousness, but after leaving school, it lost its guiding ability.

If it hadn't been for the parchment's guidance, he wouldn't have been able to leave the ghost domain of that old man alive.

"Since you're not giving me any information, you're useless. I might as well burn you to avoid carrying a piece of human skin around, which is creepy."

After washing up, Yang Jian threw the parchment onto the gas stove and lit it.

However, the parchment remained untouched by the flame.

The fire couldn't destroy it.

"Yang Jian, what are you burning? Cooking noodles?"

Liu Qiang smelled the gas and ran out of his room.

Yang Jian, seeing the parchment still intact, moved his lips slightly: "Nothing, just testing if the stove works."

"If you're cooking noodles, I have some sausages," Liu Qiang said.

"I have some too."

"I should find a place where no one can find this thing and bury it," Yang Jian frowned.

He would rather die than leave such a strange object behind.

Just as he was about to put the parchment away,

Suddenly, another line of text appeared: "I can't get any useful information from this parchment. For future plans, I intend to discard it and prevent others from finding it. But I think if I can use this parchment to catch a ghost, I might get the answer I want."

"Catch a ghost? You're just trying to trick me into dying."

Yang Jian glanced at it, not believing the nonsense, and put it away, planning to bury it in a few days.

Two hours later,

The mall opened.

Although it was still closed, Yang Jian and Liu Qiang had to work.

At 8:30, they started patrolling.

"By the way, wasn't the elevator turned off yesterday? Why is it on now?" Yang Jian stood on the escalator, suddenly remembering that they had turned off the lights and the elevator before resting.

Logically, the elevator shouldn't be on this early in the morning.

"Lili has the key. The mall door is already open, and I heard the boss might come today. Maybe Lili has already prepared. Why do you care so much?" Liu Qiang asked, puzzled.

"Nothing, just asking," Yang Jian replied.

Today, all the lights in the mall were on, unlike the usual darkness.

After patrolling, Yang Jian didn't find anything unusual.

Everything was normal.

But this normalcy made Yang Jian uneasy.

If even he couldn't find any issues, then there shouldn't be any supernatural events in the mall. But why were people disappearing?

Yang Jian felt something was off in the mall, but he couldn't pinpoint it.

However, around 10:00 AM,

Several luxury cars parked at the mall entrance.

A group of people got out.

The leader was a middle-aged man in a suit, short in stature.

"The boss is here. Be careful; the boss has been in a bad mood lately due to the mall's closure," Liu Qiang whispered.

The short middle-aged man was named Tang An, the owner of the mall. He used to be in real estate but recently switched to running the mall.

"Master Luo, this is my mall. Please take a look and tell me what's wrong. People have been disappearing every other day. Master Luo, be careful of the steps..."

Boss Tang had a flattering smile, leading a well-dressed man in his fifties.

Three or four people followed behind.

Master Luo suddenly gestured: "We can't enter through the main door. Is there another entrance?"

"There is, there is, a delivery entrance," Boss Tang hurriedly replied.

"Let's enter through that entrance and take a look," Master Luo said.

Yang Jian, standing at the entrance, smirked.

This was clearly a con artist.

Full of nonsense, just fooling people.

Everyone, including customers, enters through the main door. Why can't this so-called master?

Unless Master Luo is also a Ghost Tamer and more powerful than him.

But looking at his well-groomed and energetic appearance, he clearly wasn't a Ghost Tamer.

"You stay here and don't let anyone in. I'll call you if anything happens."

Lili hurried over, said a few words, and then went to greet the boss with a few female colleagues.

Master Luo entered the mall through the side door, leading Boss Tang, the manager, Lili, and others, looking around and nodding as if he understood everything, though it wasn't clear what he understood.

He might have already planned a script in his mind.

Yang Jian wasn't interested. He knew Master Luo was a con artist but didn't bother to expose him.

If there were no supernatural events, the one million would go to the con artist, not him.

"Hmm?"

At that moment, Yang Jian sniffed and caught a faint smell of decay.

"That smell is back. This time, it seems... closer, as the smell is stronger than before."

He turned and continued patrolling. The mall remained calm, with nothing out of the ordinary.
