The sunset was like blood.

The war of the day ended quickly.

The number of dead was not high, and to Allen, it seemed more like a probing attack.

This made him realize deeply that the Davis family did not intend to crush the Soto family in a major battle, perhaps because it would come at a great cost.

What they wanted more was to tie down the Soto family's main force.

The tents were scattered in a messy heap, and open fires were everywhere. Many militiamen were roasting food, boasting, and chatting.

Some were even drinking and summoning courtesans.

This level of military discipline left Allen speechless.

Although he knew that some fearless small merchants and courtesans following the army was a common practice in medieval wars, this degree still made him very dissatisfied.

He returned to his squad's camp and called Eight-Finger and others: "I don't care about the others, but in my team, no drinking, no women... but as compensation, there will be plenty of meat and bread! Understand?"

"Understood!"

Eight-Finger answered loudly, but his expression soon turned somber.

"Have the casualty reports come in?"

Seeing his expression, Allen immediately guessed.

"Yes, Adam was killed. The poor guy was hit by a flying rock that shattered his skull. A few other unlucky ones fell on the battlefield and were trampled to death by their own men... Besides that, Sanchez and Baker were slightly injured..." Eight-Finger answered in a low voice.

"This is war!"

Allen took a deep breath: "Tonight, we will take turns keeping watch!"

He returned to his tent, took off his leather armor, and only then did he feel the soreness in his muscles, perhaps with some friction and bruises.

Although the battle did not last long, swinging that heavy sword still put a significant strain on him.

In addition, there was a mental fatigue and disgust.

He forced himself to eat some water and bread, then fell into a deep sleep.

...

In the dream world.

Allen had completely given up on moving. Now, he was using the one mysterious unit he gained each day in the dream to strengthen himself.

Although this enhancement would not carry over to the other world, he felt it might be similar to before, requiring a certain threshold.

And at this moment on the battlefield, he could not afford to miss any opportunity to become stronger!

For this, delaying the exploration of the dream world was completely acceptable!

Whoosh!

In the boundless red sea, huge shadows occasionally swept across the surface.

Most had already mutated to a point where Allen could not recognize them, emitting terrifying and powerful auras.

Fortunately, they did not notice Allen.

"For this world, I am still just an observer, even though I can move..."

Allen used his mind to channel today's energy into himself, feeling a cool sensation spread through his consciousness, and then nothing more.

"Even the enhancement in dreams doesn't show immediate results... I wonder when I will become extraordinary?"

He sighed and thought about other aspects: "The Davis family's actions today were also suspicious. They were clearly at a stalemate, even slightly in the lead, yet they directly retreated, adopting a defensive stance. It seems they indeed intend to tie down Soto's main force!"

Allen sensed the air of conspiracy: "It seems... I must talk to Father and the others."

Although he had no feelings for Colin and the others, if the Soto family were to fall, his fate would not be much better.

...

The war over the next few days was as Allen had expected.

The Davis family continued to engage in battles, but the intensity was clearly reduced, giving the Soto family the impression that with just a bit more effort, they could completely defeat the enemy.

Thus, the entire army was held at Black Crow Dunes, even urging the rear to send supplies and reinforcements.

Allen sighed and walked into the tent.

"Father, today I cut off three heads."

As soon as he entered, he heard Colin's proud voice.

"Very well done, my son. It seems the unification of Green Forest will be achieved in my generation."

Theodore laughed heartily.

"Father."

Allen sighed inwardly and stepped forward to salute.

"My good brother, I wonder how many spoils you have gained?" Colin asked, seemingly curious.

These days, Allen had been learning tactics and command from Alfred and had little interest in spoils or heads.

Ignoring Colin, Allen directly addressed Theodore: "I believe the Davis family is deliberately showing weakness, preparing to execute a conspiracy. We need to take measures against this!"

"Ha!"

Colin laughed, his expression filled with undisguised contempt: "Conspiracy? On the battlefield, only strength matters. Conspiracies are for women and cowards!"

"Colin!"

Theodore stopped Colin, but his expression did not change much, clearly not convinced: "Colin has a point. War is about hard power. We know the situation in the Davis territory; they can mobilize about two thousand troops, which is almost their limit... They don't have the strength for other conspiracies! And you have no evidence!"

"What we need to do now is to strike them down in one go, destroy their main force, and not give them the chance to retreat to their castle and hold out!"

Theodore had always wanted to completely crush the Davis family and rule the entire Green Forest.

If the Davis family had the chance to retreat to their castle, this goal would be hard to achieve.

Currently, although the family's troops were fewer, the Soto family's soldiers were clearly of higher quality, giving them an advantage on the battlefield.

Theodore saw this and would not let this opportunity slip away!

Seeing this, Allen could only sigh.

Sometimes, the smartest people are more likely to fall for scams because the scammers lay out what they are thinking, and the smart ones will fill in the gaps for the scammers themselves!

"Then... at least let me patrol the surroundings. Perhaps I can find some evidence."

Allen took a deep breath and spoke.

"Hey, my good brother, are you trying to desert?" Colin's eyes lit up, and he immediately said.

Leaving the battlefield at this time would inevitably earn him a cowardly reputation, which in the medieval world of martial worship was a death sentence!

Allen scanned the room and indeed saw the knights' contemptuous gazes.

But he did not care. Even if the Davis family had no conspiracy, survival was the most important thing!

"..."

Theodore was silent for a moment, then finally said: "Go, take your squad with you!"

Although he was disappointed in his son, he did not refuse.

"Thank you!"

Allen straightened his back, saluted, and walked out of the tent.
