This time, Wei Shijie didn’t try to lure him with a meal. He opened with, "It’s a small matter, just go on a blind date for me."
"Another blind date for you?" Chu Tianshu had already helped him once, and he had made the girl so happy that she almost suggested going to a hotel room right away. In the end, Chu Tianshu, feeling guilty, told her the truth and was scolded to the point of feeling guilty even now.
Wei Shijie pleaded bitterly and offered a favorable condition: "This is the last time, I beg you. I’ll take care of all the meals every weekend this month."
"Find someone else, I don’t enjoy this kind of work." Chu Tianshu flatly refused. He would rather eat instant noodles for a month than go through the guilt of being scolded again.
"Bro, bro, you can’t do this to me. We studied together, fought together, and even went to the same brothel together."
"Spit! Who the hell went to a brothel with you..." Chu Tianshu noticed Zhang Yingying, a minor, standing at the door and quickly stopped talking.
"Sorry, it just slipped out." Wei Shijie started to chuckle. "Bro, I’m really in a bind, that’s why I’m asking you. Otherwise, I would have gone myself, even if it meant risking my life. But I just got a call, the leader’s child is visiting, and I have to accompany them. I can’t get out of it."
Chu Tianshu sneered, "Hmph, the leader’s daughter, right?"
"Hehe, your eyes are sharp, you can’t be fooled."
"Damn, do you think I don’t know your shameless nature? Better to kill a thousand innocents than to let one guilty one go."
"Old Chu, if the leader’s daughter is good enough, I’ll decide to reform. Please have mercy and help me. Otherwise, I’ll be scolded to death by my aunt. Besides, can you bear to see me become a scoundrel who stands up girls?"
At this point, Chu Tianshu’s heart softened, "Alright, to save you, I’ll help you one more time. There must be no next time."
"Absolutely no next time, I’ll be a little dog if I lie." Wei Shijie didn’t give Chu Tianshu a chance to hesitate and directly assigned the task: "Time, twelve o’clock. Place, Dreamy Café. The secret code, the latest issue of Reader’s Digest. Remember, you have to ruin it, make her as desperate as possible. Oh, and you’ll have to pay for the meal first, I’ll pay you back double later."
Chu Tianshu gave a bitter laugh and was speechless.
After hanging up, Chu Tianshu bent down, took Zhang Yingying’s small hand, and came to the courtyard.
Tan Yufen was bent over, stir-frying, her round buttocks and soft waist swaying with her movements, looking very attractive.
Zhang Yingying said in a childish voice, "Mom, Uncle Xia is not eating at home for lunch, he’s going on a blind date."
Tan Yufen straightened up, turned around, and asked with a smile, "Yingying, how do you know that?"
"Uncle Xia said it on the phone."
"Really?" Tan Yufen’s smile faded, and she asked Chu Tianshu seriously.
Chu Tianshu smiled awkwardly and nodded.
"No way!" Tan Yufen glanced at Chu Tianshu, turned off the stove, and scolded, "Xia, you need to change your clothes and tidy up. The first impression is very important when meeting a girl."
Faced with Tan Yufen’s enthusiasm, Chu Tianshu didn’t know what to do. Although Tan Yufen was only about three years older than him, she was a very capable sister-in-law.
She grabbed Chu Tianshu and started nagging, "The clothes you changed yesterday, your sister-in-law has already ironed for you. And you need to wash your hair well, Yingying, go get your mom’s shampoo. You’re a department head now, you need to pay attention to your image..."
Zhang Yingying happily agreed and ran into the room to bring out a large bottle of shampoo.
Tan Yufen brought a large basin of hot water and forced Chu Tianshu to wash his hair and change his clothes.
After washing, Tan Yufen took out a hairdryer and sat Chu Tianshu on a stool.
The warm air blew on Chu Tianshu’s neck, making it itchy. Tan Yufen’s small hands moved skillfully on his head, and she kept reminding him to be enthusiastic, proactive, and so on, which deeply moved Chu Tianshu.
After drying his hair, Tan Yufen stood in front of Chu Tianshu, looked him up and down, and said with satisfaction, "Not bad, you look quite handsome after tidying up. You should be able to charm a girl or two."
Chu Tianshu quietly looked at the beautiful young woman in front of him. Her fair and rosy face exuded a slight warmth, her large, clear eyes made her look like a virtuous and capable wife.
Tan Yufen seemed to notice Chu Tianshu staring at her, blushed, and turned to ask Zhang Yingying, "Yingying, does Uncle Xia look good?"
Zhang Yingying clapped her hands and said, "Good, good."
Chu Tianshu’s face turned red, and he said embarrassedly, "Sister-in-law, thank you. I’ll be late if I don’t go now."
Tan Yufen hugged Zhang Yingying and said, "Go, bring her back if it goes well."
"Okay." Chu Tianshu agreed and walked out of the courtyard, feeling grateful to Tan Yufen.
At a roadside newsstand, Chu Tianshu bought the latest issue of Reader’s Digest. He found it amusing that they were still using this method to meet for a blind date. This girl must be a bit outdated and a literary young woman.
Dreamy Café was one of the most upscale leisure places in Qingyuan City.
At noon, although there were many customers in the café, it still felt very quiet. As soon as you entered, you could hear the soothing piano music.
Chu Tianshu held the magazine and looked around the hall. Most of the booths were occupied by a man and a woman. It was hard to find a booth with only one person, and the one he found was a young man waiting eagerly.
A few booths were blocked by the piano.
Chu Tianshu walked to the side of the piano and first saw a woman in her thirties whispering to a man in his forties.
The man had a bald head, and at first glance, Chu Tianshu thought it was Tian Keming. He moved closer to take a better look and realized the man was wearing glasses and looked much more shrewd than Tian Keming.
Their conversation was interrupted by a stranger, and the woman glared at Chu Tianshu in dissatisfaction.
Chu Tianshu quickly raised his head and looked elsewhere, finally spotting a girl reading a magazine in a corner near the side of the piano. The open magazine covered her face.
It was indeed the latest issue of Reader’s Digest.
She had chosen a good spot. This corner was deep and backed by a wall, with the side blocked by the piano, making it inconspicuous but with a clear view of the entire café, perfect for intimate conversations.
Chu Tianshu looked around again, confirming that there was only one magazine reader in the large café, and walked over, smiling, "Excuse me..."
A young woman wearing sunglasses gently poked her head out from behind the magazine.
The sunglasses were so large that they almost covered half her face, but her finely sculpted nose, small mouth, and slightly curly long hair still gave Chu Tianshu a sense of surprise.
She looked up, glanced at the magazine in Chu Tianshu’s hand, and nodded slightly, "You’re here, sit down."
Chu Tianshu sat down opposite her, placed the magazine on the table, and said politely, "Sorry to keep you waiting."
"It’s nothing, you’re very punctual. It’s exactly twelve o’clock, I came early." The girl smiled and extended her hand generously, "Let’s get acquainted, my name is Xiang Wanqing."
"Oh, Wei... Shijie." Chu Tianshu shook her small hand and stuttered out his name.
"Hehe, you seem a bit nervous. You’re not an impostor, are you?" Xiang Wanqing took off the large sunglasses, revealing a pair of large, captivating eyes that gave her a wild, natural beauty. Especially when she slightly pursed her lips and smiled, her eyes sparkled with a captivating light, making her even more alluring.
Chu Tianshu’s heart raced again.
"Where, you’re too beautiful."
"Really?" Xiang Wanqing seemed to ask casually, but her eyes showed excitement as she said to herself, "Hmm, indeed a seasoned blind date expert, both innocent and good at pleasing girls."
"You can tell that?" Chu Tianshu touched his face and laughed, "You make me feel a bit embarrassed."
Chu Tianshu suddenly became very interested in Xiang Wanqing.
By his judgment, she couldn’t be more than twenty-five, but she had a maturity and rationality that didn’t match her age. It wasn’t the sophistication of a mature woman or the pretentiousness of a young girl, but a unique and intriguing aura.
In his heart, Chu Tianshu secretly felt sorry for Wei Shijie. If he had met Xiang Wanqing, he would have been captivated too.
At this moment, Chu Tianshu felt a split personality. He wasn’t quite sure whether he should be Wei Shijie or himself.
Wei Shijie’s requirement was to make her despair, but Chu Tianshu now had a strong desire to get closer to her.
"Mr. Wei, what would you like to order?" Xiang Wanqing asked.
"Ah?" Chu Tianshu was a bit at a loss.
Xiang Wanqing smiled slightly, noticing Chu Tianshu’s awkwardness but remaining calm as she called over the waiter in a vest, as she had seen many boys lose their composure in front of her.
"I’ll do it." Chu Tianshu waved at the waiter, took the menu, and said, "Miss Xiang, would you like coffee or black tea?"
Xiang Wanqing extended a finger, "Mocha, with ice."
"Top-grade Blue Mountain, with ice." Chu Tianshu held the menu and asked, "Would you like anything else?"
Xiang Wanqing smiled, "You can order whatever you like, I’m on a diet."
"You have a great figure." Chu Tianshu took the opportunity to look Xiang Wanqing up and down and said with a smile, "No need to save money for me."
Xiang Wanqing shrugged, "It’s all about maintaining it."
Seeing that Xiang Wanqing didn’t order anything else, Chu Tianshu didn’t feel like ordering a main dish either. He just ordered a few small dishes and handed the menu back to the waiter, thinking to himself: Wei Shijie will be lucky.
The waiter quickly and quietly brought their coffee and snacks, and no one disturbed them again.
