Meng Ting was eating, but she couldn’t continue as she suddenly got a hunch from nowhere. The child who was usually not interested in her father’s work, raised her head and asked, “What phoneah?”

Her father looked at her doubtfully and said, “Why are you asking this?”

Meng Ting also knew that this was a bit stupid but still insisted, “I’m just…just curious.”

Meng Ting’s father was already tired after working all day outside but was still patient with his only daughter. He walked over to her and said, “It’s not a famous brand and I haven’t seen that brand before. Afterward, when the customer saw that it couldn’t be decoded, he took it away and brought it to another store.”

Meng Ting got a little anxious. “Took it away?”

“Huh?” Meng Ting’s father didn’t expect her to have such a big reaction. “What’s wrong? Do you know that phone?”

Meng Ting didn’t dare to say that she knew.

But she had a hunch thatthatphone was most likely Meimei’s. She said, “Dad, do you know which store it was brought to?”

Her father finally got serious upon seeing her serious expression and said, “I don’t know about this but I think he still wants to decode the phone. As far as I know, there aren’t many stores that can do this if I can’t do it. We all know each other. If you want to find the phone, then I can certainly help you ask.”

Meng Ting couldn’t care less. She hurriedly nodded and said, “Okay, thank you, Dad.”

Her mother was scooping soup for Meng Ting and his father and said, “The two of youah, one old and one young. Have you eaten properly yet? What are you guys doing? Let’s eat. Also you, Tingting. I saw that the light in your room was on all night. Why weren’t you sleeping?”

Meng Ting bowed her head shyly. “I…wasn’t doing anything.”

She didn’t dare to say that she was knitting a bracelet for the person she liked. This was the first time she fell in love, so she was very excited and attached importance to it. Before she had no choice and didn’t dare to do something like this, but now she really wanted to do something, so she knitted the chain bracelet and wanted to give it to Jian Mei early in the morning but they encountered some mishaps and now, the chain bracelet was still in her pocket.

Her mother glared at her. “You’ll be in your third year of high school soon. Don’t think about those random flirty things, do you understand?”

“Okay, okay. I know!” replied Meng Ting absentmindedly.

If emotions could be controlled by rationality, how could they even be called emotions? Emotions were the greatest strength of humans yet also their greatest weakness.

In the middle of the night, the training ground of the military base was brightly lit and many recruits were wailing.

When Zuo Qingshan came over, the scene was very lively. He remembered how happy and excited the new recruits were when they found out that the third prince would instruct them on the mecha operation. But at this moment, everyone looked like they had nothing left to live for.

Zuo Qingshan called over a group of young soldiers. “What are you doing?”

“You’re here, Major General.” The vice-captain came over and saluted before replying, “His Highness is leading the new recruits for a practical mecha simulation.”

Zuo Qingshan said, “The training seems to be very difficult?”

The vice-captain replied honestly, “This time, a three-member team will participate in a virtual battle. They are going to fight in 3v1 against His Highness and all of them are going to drive the same type of mecha.”

Zuo Qingshan clicked his tongue. “Did you guys think that His Highness is easier to fight because he has no divine power now?

There were a lot of powerful people here.

The vice-captain could only tell the truth. “To be honest, they had this kind of thought in the beginning. Although His Highness has no divine power, his ability to control mecha and firearms is still strong. It was as if he had received special training since childhood. If you use divine power to fight against him, you might have a 50-50 chance. But if you use mecha, let alone one, he can even beat a group of people.”

This was still the Lu Xingwang who had no divine power but could still be equal in a fight.

It was hard to imagine how strong His Highness, who had the five elements of divine power, in his peak would be. He was also proficient in various combat mechas, which was really terrifying.

Zuo Qingshan said, “Did you think His Majesty just sent the third prince here without thinking?”

The vice captain hesitated. “What do you mean, Major General?”

“Let me tell you something. The classic model of the most sought after version 2.0 iterative on the market has been anonymously improved by His Highness.” Zuo Qingshan patted the poor young soldier on the shoulder. “It’s impossible for you guys to trifle him.”

The young soldier doubted his life.

Later on, Zuo Qingshan stopped another team which was forced to use the actual combat simulation.

The major general came over and pulled Lu Xingwang aside who was still training. “Your Highness, it’s almost dawn. Didn’t you want to go on an expedition to the north tomorrow? We’re going on an expedition at seven o’clock tomorrow morning. If you don’t want to rest, then at least let these recruits rest. How long have they been in the military for? How can they stand this high level of training? My gosh, don’t torment these recruits for the sake of thislaozi.”

Lu Xingwang just came out of the virtual cabin. He took a dry towel to wipe his face and said in a low voice, “What level is this?”

Zuo Qingshan was speechless.

The soon-to-be adult third prince didn’t look like he was a sick person at all. He was very tall, almost as tall as Zuo Qingshan. He was wearing a close-fitting military uniform and looked very handsome. Half of his face looked handsome and sharp while the other half of his face was still covered with some hideous scars, which added a bit of hostility to him.

Lu Xingwang said, “When you enter the military camp, you must be aware of that.”

Zuo Qingshan couldn’t say anything more to him, so he just simply said, “Come on, when they entered the military before, you didn’t say that you wanted to cultivate a relationship with themah. Why did you suddenly remember to cultivate your relationship with them today? Did Your Highness encounter something unpleasant and couldn’t sleep, or…is it because of someone?”

He found out recently that His Highness seemed to be in a bad mood, but he didn’t know the exact reason. There are very few things and people that could affect Lu Xingwang. After thinking about it, the last possible reason was…

Lu Xingwang took the nutrient solution handed by the adjutant and said in a low voice, “What could happen to me?”

Zuo Qingshan shrugged. “Your Highness is upset right now for some reason.”

Lu Xingwang didn’t say anything or react.

He truly was in a bad mood right now. The exact reason was that Jian Mei hadn’t contacted him today. Even when Jian Mei was busy, he used to say good night but now he didn’t even send him a good night message. He had always thought that he didn’t care about these things, but he couldn’t help worrying when he really didn’t receive any messages on his communication terminal.

He couldn’t help but check the messages after every half an hour and couldn’t help overthinking. He could only rely on high-intensity training to forget and numb himself. If it was before, he wouldn’t expose the emotions on his face but now, even Zuo Qingshan could see he was upset.

“Dong…”

At three in the morning, the big bell on the mountain rang which signaled the start of a new day and the sun was about to rise.

Lu Xingwang got into the car and opened his communication terminal again upon returning to the palace. He was as calm as the sea and no ripples on his face could be seen but the calmer he was on the surface, the more annoyed he was. He didn’t know why but for some reason, he was angry. He thought about reducing his contact with Jian Mei before and putting some distance between them but he didn’t expect that Jian Mei wouldn’t contact him. He couldn’t calm down at all and felt even more irritable.

Aruo, who was waiting for His Highness was startled when she saw His Highness come back in rage. “Your Highness?”

Lu Xingwang hummed in response with a sullen face.

Aruo said hesitantly, “Your Highness, did you encounter any troubles outside?”

“No,” said Lu Xingwang.

You can still say no?

Your Highness, “I am upset” is almost written on your face ah!

What could have made Lu Xingwang upset over the years? She thought about it and thought it could either be that the crown prince did something disgusting again, or was it His Majesty, or maybe something big happened on the military side, but the palace had been peaceful recentlyah.

Lu Xingwang said, “Don’t wait for me, it’s getting late. You should rest early.”

Aruo came back to her senses. “Okay, don’t worry too much, Your Highness. No matter how difficult things are, you’ll feel much better tomorrow after sleeping.”

Lu Xingwang thought to himself, “He could sleep no matter how difficult things were but Jian Mei hadn’t even sent him a single message today.” However, he couldn’t say that. He could only nod his head and went back to his bedroom silently. There was a hidden compartment beside his bed that contained a lot of His Highness’ private possessions. He sat on the edge of the bed and opened the secret compartment, which was full of things that Jian Mei had sent to him over the years.

From the blue teddy bear given to him on his 14th birthday to the bear keychain that Jian Mei had given to him recently.

Lu Xingwang picked up the keychain. Under the light, the crystal material looked sparkly and beautiful but all he could remember was the owner of this keychain.

Did something happen?

Or was there something urgent?

Lu Xingwang held the teddy bear in his hand. He told himself that it wasn’t because he lacked self-control and neither because he was inseparable from Jian Mei, but because he was worried about Jian Mei’s safety so he opened his communication terminal and sent a message to Jian Mei:

[Have you returned home?]

[When you’re back, get some rest.]

[Is everything alright?]

His Highness, who was cold and heartless in front of everyone, sent an additional message to Jian Mei: [Good night.]

The next day

Meng Ting came to her father’s shop early in the morning. After searching, they found out that the person who took the phone never again brought it to any other store, so their search was fruitless.

Meng Ting’s father told her, “Don’t worry, Tingting. I’ll keep an eye out for you.”

Meng Ting said, “Thank you, Dad.”

She wanted to give Jian Mei a call but recalled that Jian Mei had lost his phone. She wouldn’t be able to contact him on that phone number so now she couldn’t contact Jian Mei at all. It was only when the day ended that she found out that Jian Mei was sick and took a leave of absence.

She said to Xiao Pang, “Let’s go and visit Meimei after school.”

Naturally, Xiao Pang didn’t think there was anything wrong. It was normal for the class monitor to visit Jian Mei on behalf of their classmates. He said, “Okay. I really didn’t expect that losing his phone would bring such a big blow to Meimei and he’d get sick.”

Meng Ting let out a sigh. She said, “Is that phone really this important to Jian Mei?”

“I don’t know either. Maybe the phone isn’t that important to him but the person he wanted to contact must be important, right?” Xiao Pang thought that his logic made sense. “Anyway, I don’t think Meimei is a particularly materialistic kind of person.”

Meng Ting asked, “Important person to contact?”

Xiao Pang thought she wanted to gossip. “It’s Dazhuang-geah. Didn’t you know him from your birthday party? This Dazhuang-geis a particularly important person to Meimei. I heard that they have known each other for a long time.”

Meng Ting didn’t know why, but her girl’s intuition told her that this Dazhuang-gewas definitely not just a mere sworn brother.

Translator’s Notes:

Hi, I’m Ebarle. You must be wondering why I haven’t updated for such a long time. For those who aren’t using Discord, I made an announcement explaining the reason. Last July, I was really stressed out and I just had no motivation to translate. Just last week, I was sent to the ER because of the pain I was feeling in my lower abdomen. I had to do some laboratory tests afterwards and fortunately, there were no dire results and I was fine. The gynecologist and another doctor that I went to said that there was nothing wrong with my body but I was really stressed out. They said that to be physically healthy, I must also be mentally healthy. My body was responding to the stress, making me lose a lot of weight, and so on. Now I’m recovering and trying to destress.

I was finally able to fix my laptop last week but my sister lost my phone which flared up my stress and caused me to be brought to the ER. I panicked but calmed down soon and I changed my passwords and so on to avoid further stress. I’m currently facing financial problems so losing my phone gave me a lot of stress, I’ve got no funds nor time to be stressed about my phone so I’m trying to pick myself up and get back on track. I still have other things to do and burying myself in such a loss isn’t worth it.

I hope you guys can understand why I haven’t updated for so long. I’ll try my best to keep up with the schedule but for now, let’s settle with this. It was my birthday yesterday but I couldn’t celebrate it outside since I was told to stay at home for a while. I wanted to update yesterday but I got lazy to turn on my laptop. This is my gift for you guys and also a consolation since I wasn’t able to update for more than a month.

Thank you, guys! Keep safe and take care of yourselves!
