Chapter 7

At the dinner table, Miu slurped her soba noodles silently, her gaze sharp, creating a tense atmosphere.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.”
Usually, my cheerful younger sister sometimes gets moody. I think it’s because she’s in the middle of her teenage years, but today, I have a feeling I know why. It’s because of my game setup.
“Sorry about that.”
“Why are you apologizing?”
“It’s about the game. I caused you some trouble.”
I don’t know what exactly, but I figured it’s best to apologize to avoid any issues.
Miu took a deep breath and let out a heavy sigh.
“Sorry, Onii-chan.”
“Oh, you’re calling me Onii-chan now?”
“Don’t react to that.”
Hmm, being called Onee-chan by my sister really hurt more than I thought.
“It’s not that. In the game, someone who has been playing since the beta brought in new people, and we didn’t get along with them... I’m sorry if it made you feel bad.”
“I see. Well, I can listen to your complaints.”
“Yeah. Well, they were just show-offs. While we were healing, they kept pushing forward and died. When they came back, they said it was our fault for not supporting them well. It was pretty harsh.”
“Ah, so what happens when you die?”
“You lose a penalty, and your status drops for an hour.”
“That’s harsh. But since I’m a crafter, I can use the time I’m dead to make items, so it’s not a waste.”
“You’ve already decided on that, huh?”
“I can’t fight. Right now, I’m focusing on improving my crafting senses. I want to get rid of the training restrictions and take on other senses as soon as possible.”
“But that’s a shame. Yun-nee, you’re beautiful, and I wanted to show you off in battle.”
“Spare me. Anyway, for combat, I do mob hunting alone for item collection, and I want to improve my archery sense a bit.”
“Hmm, so Yun goes solo.”
Well, for now, I’ll focus on gathering and mob hunting. I can’t drag others along on such a roundabout path.
“What senses do you have now, Miu?”
“Hmm, [Sword Lv12], [Armor Lv11], [Attack Boost Lv6], [Defense Boost Lv6], [Spirit Lv4], [Magic Talent Lv10], [Magic Power Lv14], [Magic Recovery Lv7], [Light Attribute Lv5], [Healing Magic Lv7]?”
“You’ve grown a lot. You already have four sense points.”
“Yun-nee is about the same. By the way, if Onii-chan gets the Attack Boost sense, you might save on arrows.”
“That’s for later. Right now, I’m self-sufficient in the western forest.”
“Yeah, that sounds good. Everyone enjoys the game in their own way.”
Unlike during the daytime hunts, her opinion was more relaxed.
Hmm. I’m usually the capable older brother, but I get flustered when it comes to games.
After dinner, Miu took a bath, and I cleaned up the dishes and prepared dinner for our parents who had just come home. Then, I took a bath and logged back into OSO.
When I logged out, I was in a non-combat area of the forest, so I started from there. It was night in the game, and it was pitch black. This area had a campfire, so there was a faint light, but looking around 360 degrees, it was completely dark. Occasionally, shadows that looked like bats would fly by.
Hmm, the night sky is beautiful. Oh, the Milky Way is clearly visible. I stared at the sky in a daze. If I focused, my Eagle Eye sense would zoom in like a telescope.
It feels like my Eagle Eye is growing rapidly, but for now, I’m enjoying the natural scenery in the game.
After about thirty minutes, I checked my senses. My Eagle Eye had reached level 10. I was happy, but I didn’t expect it to be the first to reach level 10, as I thought my Magic Power would be first.
I felt like I could see further in the darkness than before.
I decided to quickly get a new sense.
Even though there are many initial senses, I thought it might be good to get a crafting sense since I’m leaning towards being a crafter. I looked through the options: blacksmithing, tailoring, carpentry, and finally, crafting.
This was an unpopular sense, often taken as a bonus with blacksmithing. Its effect was the ability to create accessories. Instead of weapons or armor, which are the main focus of blacksmithing, tailoring, and carpentry, this was a support accessory. This seemed to fit my initial strategy of focusing on support and niche industries. I felt like I made a good choice.
Still, I thought senses were deep and activated my Eagle Eye.
I thought Eagle Eye was just a long-distance vision sense, but it might also be a night vision sense. Each level increases the field of view by about one meter. With just the bow sense level, my range is about five meters.
I remembered I had arrows and no enemies, so I decided to practice archery before going to bed.
I took out a wooden arrow and drew the bow. The arrow I released disappeared into the darkness. I kept shooting disposable arrows into the darkness. The bow sense grows by shooting arrows, and the growth rate might increase slightly by hitting enemies.
I shot each arrow carefully. Since I’ve never had archery practice, the only way to improve my accuracy is through repetition. With Eagle Eye, which provides long-distance and night vision, I could clearly see if I hit the target.
So far, my hit rate is two out of ten, which is still low.
Both my bow sense and Eagle Eye sense have leveled up sufficiently. I checked the bow skills and, sure enough, there was an [Art] called ‘Long-range Shooting.’
I tried the long-range shooting.
The bow took longer to draw, but it made a powerful sound and shot the arrow to a distance I couldn’t see with Eagle Eye.
“I need to check this during the day. Well, it’s getting late, so I’ll go to bed.”
I logged out. Tomorrow, I’ll focus on growing my crafting senses again.
Revised and completed.
