The Anping Era.
In a world where dark shadows crisscross and vengeful spirits intertwine.
Demons and monsters did not remain in distant forests or deep mountains; instead, they coexisted with humans in the capital, even under the same roof.
The capital of Anping was being eroded by the bizarre and became a den for all manner of evil spirits, as well as a stage for the activities of the Onmyoji (Yin-Yang Masters).
To resolve the conflicts between heaven, earth, humans, and ghosts, the Onmyoji displayed their formidable skills.
They used the all-encompassing divination and mysterious incantations to exorcise evil and vanquish monsters, becoming powerful protectors for everyone from the imperial family and nobles to the common people!
To survive in the treacherous court, they had to be well-versed in all elegant pursuits, such as waka poetry, Chinese poetry, the biwa (Japanese lute), the flute, and the art of incense or tea. They had to be knowledgeable in all these areas. Additionally, they needed the ability to see through people's hearts and the professional ethics to keep secrets.
Therefore, those who could become Onmyoji were all top-notch talents of their time!
Dongfang Xiuzhe, an Onmyoji not yet 18 years old, relied on his extraordinary talent to not only master the talismans, incantations, divination, and barriers left by his predecessors but also to further develop and expand upon them, becoming the youngest and most capable head of the "Yin-Yang Five Elements Family" in history.
However —
On a night of lightning and thunder, Dongfang Xiuzhe mysteriously vanished.
Along with his disappearance, the courtyard where he lived alone also vanished, leaving behind only a bottomless pit at the scene!
People were in an uproar, and everyone was terrified!
Some said that Dongfang Xiuzhe was surrounded by a group of demons and died from exhaustion; others said that heaven envied his talent and struck him down with a bolt of lightning, reducing him to ashes; still others said that Dongfang Xiuzhe had enlightened to the way of heaven and ascended to immortality...
These were all just speculations, and no one knew where Dongfang Xiuzhe had gone or whether he was truly no longer among the living!
