Chapter 9

3 min read743 words

After learning from my previous failure, I managed to arrive in town while it was still daylight today. As I veered off the main road and entered town through a hidden passage near the orphanage, I was hit with a high-speed tackle that would surprise even a wrestler.

"Big brother!!"

The culprit was my little sister. It seemed she couldn't wait for me to return and had come to greet me.

To think she noticed me so quickly...

After that, my life points were almost at zero, so I crouched down for about ten minutes.

Once I had recovered, I returned to the orphanage with my little sister. To apologize for worrying her this morning, I gave her a flower I had found in the Dragon Forest. She was delighted, her eyes sparkling. She is still happily dancing.

After returning to the orphanage, I informed the director of my arrival. The director checked my body to make sure I wasn't injured, which was a bit ticklish.

Since the harvest this time was abundant, the children were in a great commotion. Seeing the children, the director smiled warmly, and I couldn't help but smile as well.

Because I had harvested new items this time, the director told me that I would go to town with Shal tomorrow. He suggested that it would be better to go after confirming what is available in the Dragon Forest rather than going with zero knowledge to look for new fruits, herbs, and mushrooms.

I'm looking forward to my first walk through the town in this new world!

By the way, my little sister will also be going with us tomorrow.

The next morning, I was at a loss.

My little sister was crying again this morning.

The reason was simple: the flower I gave her yesterday had been crushed. She was so happy that she refused to put it in a vase and carried it with her all the time. Naturally, she even slept with it... As a result, she crushed the flower herself while turning over in her sleep.

If I had known this would happen, I should have picked more...

I managed to stop her crying by promising to pick more flowers the next time we go.

After breakfast, we set out for town immediately.

The bustling part of town is the central area along the main street, where you can find almost everything, but it's a bit more expensive. Therefore, the local residents avoid the central area and buy their goods from shops in the outer areas, where they can get most of what they need with a short walk.

"Ah, Shal, are you shopping today?"

"Hey, little girl!! What vegetables are you buying today!?"

"Welcome, Shal. Are you buying something? I'll give you a discount."

"Oh, you've brought the little ones today!?"

As we left the orphanage and approached the shops, many people called out to Shal.

"Shal is so popular!!"

"Shal is so cool!!"

We looked at her with admiration, but

"Hehe, it's not that I'm amazing, it's that the director is amazing."

She said this, but even if the director is amazing, he wouldn't greet Shal. I think it's because of Shal's personality.

After being called out by many people, we finally reached the pharmacy. We were going to buy herbs here.

"Welcome! Oh, it's Shal. What brings you here today? More medicine for the children?"

"Hello, sir. I'm here to sell herbs today."

"Hello, sir!!"

"Hello. Herbs, huh? I remember you came last week, didn't you?"

"Yes, I have a few."

"That's great. We can never have too many herbs, so bring them whenever you can."

"Thank you. Also, could you tell me what herbs can be found in the Dragon Forest for my studies?"

"The Dragon Forest? You're not telling me you're going there to collect them, are you!?"

"No, no, it's these children who want to know."

"Please."

"Please."

"These children, huh? Well, they're so small, they probably won't go to the Dragon Forest. Okay, I'll tell you a bit."

After that, we sold the herbs and were taught about the typical and valuable herbs found in the Dragon Forest.
