Chapter 89: The Little Girl Who Loves to Fight
"It's Xie Yan."
Liu Zhihe whispered the girl's name, and Wen Liang nodded in understanding. A girl who could make Bai Huan go to such lengths, even resorting to force, must be extraordinary. Yet, he hadn't expected her to be so beautiful. For a moment, even he, who was used to seeing beautiful women, was taken aback.
Xu Yao exclaimed, "Wow, so beautiful! Wen Liang, don't you think so?"
With an outsider present, Xu Yao rarely called him by his name, which sounded a bit strange. Wen Liang didn't even glance at the girl, his gentle gaze fixed on Xu Yao's side face as he softly said, "Yeah, she is beautiful, but that's all."
Xu Yao turned her head, looked into Wen Liang's eyes, and suddenly smiled, lightly touching his shoulder before quickly pulling away.
Bai Huan smiled and said something, while Xie Yan leaned against the car, head down, not speaking. Seeing him walking over, Wen Liang whispered, "You can leave first. It's not good if Bai Huan sees you."
Liu Zhihe nodded in understanding and said, "How about I go book a room and wait for the show?"
Wen Liang stared at Bai Huan's figure, a cold glint flashing in his eyes, "Do as you please, as long as you're not afraid of your father catching you. If you want to watch, go ahead."
Liu Zhihe looked depressed, torn between going and staying, and eventually walked away. Xu Yao frowned and said, "What are you up to? What show?"
"Men's business, don't ask. You'd be embarrassed to hear it, and I'd be embarrassed to say it."
"Pah, shameless!"
As the two were bickering, all the girls from Class 2 rushed over, surrounding Bai Huan and talking to him, occasionally pointing at this side. Bai Huan saw Wen Liang, pushed through the girls, and walked over, a hateful smile on his handsome face. He mocked, "Isn't this Wen Liang? What's up? Are you going to sing on stage tonight too?"
Although only a few days had passed, Wen Liang felt like it had been a long time since he had a verbal spat with these people. His skills hadn't diminished, and he smiled, "Pigs are the ones who only grunt on stage. Their scientific name is 'Oink,' and they can't do anything else!"
Bai Huan snorted coldly, immediately realizing something was wrong. Wasn't this exactly saying he was a pig? Enraged, he said, "Don't just play with words. Kid, if you have the guts, dare to bet with me? Whoever loses tonight has to kneel at the entrance of the karaoke bar and beg for an hour. What do you say?"
"Nothing wrong with betting, but remember the last basketball game? Some people still haven't called me 'Grandpa.' Do you really think I have time to play with you guys who don't keep your word?"
Bai Huan trembled with anger, staring at Wen Liang, unable to speak. Hou Qiang and others, who had just gotten out of the Audi, saw the situation and rushed over. The dark-skinned Hou Qiang, the tall and thin Hong Hou, and Shi Chengcai, one of the three main players from the basketball game, formed a half-circle, surrounding Wen Liang and Xu Yao. Gu Wenyuan and Mu Shanshan didn't appear, and Bai Huan probably knew that for such a dirty deed, besides the like-minded Hou Qiang and the loyal Hong Hou and Shi Chengcai, it was better not to involve too many people.
Wen Liang was deeply regretful. If Gu Wenyuan were there, his face when he burst in would have been quite a sight.
Unfortunately, he wouldn't see it this time!
Xu Yao interlocked her fingers, flipped her palms outward, and did a warm-up, saying coldly, "Want to fight?"
Her best partner, Wen Liang, immediately responded, "You're too unkind. You know they won't dare to fight, yet you say such things? Isn't that deliberately humiliating them?"
Xu Yao put her hands down, lowered her head demurely, and said apologetically, "I'm sorry. According to Chinese tradition, I should ask: Have you eaten?"
Wen Liang burst out laughing, completely unafraid of the four menacing people. Bai Huan and the others turned pale but couldn't say a word. In previous confrontations at school, Wen Liang had used his strength to break their courage to act. They had found some street thugs to deal with Liu Zhihe, but the plan failed, and the thugs were beaten up badly. The boastful Brother Gua lost two fingers and had a large wound on his head, which made Bai Huan lose all confidence in using force against Wen Liang.
Hou Qiang couldn't swallow his anger and stepped forward, pointing at Wen Liang and cursing, "You f**king parasite! Without Ninger and Xu Yao, what are you? I could crush you with a finger!"
Fortunately, even in his anger, he remembered not to offend Xu Yao and added "classmate" when mentioning her name, which sounded ridiculous.
Wen Liang looked him up and down and laughed, "Oh, who's this? Your mouth is so big it could swallow a toad. With some backbone, you're different, huh? Hou Chuanhai just became the acting secretary of Huashan District, and the 'acting' hasn't even been removed. Look at how much more impressive our Young Master Hou is now. His voice is an octave higher than before, even surpassing Young Master Bai. Impressive, really impressive!"
Bai Huan's face immediately darkened, and Hou Qiang, both angry and anxious, was provoked into a fit of rage. He slapped Wen Liang, saying, "I'll beat you to death!"
This was a classic case of forgetting the pain. In the last group fight on the playground, Wen Liang had specifically found him and hit him. Now, he had forgotten so quickly. Wen Liang raised his right hand, easily grabbed Hou Qiang's wrist, and applied force to the pulse point, twisting it back and lifting it up, immediately subduing him. Hou Qiang's feet barely touched the ground, and he struggled to stand, his arm joint aching severely, cold sweat breaking out on his forehead. He still shouted, "Wen Liang, you wait! If I ever see you in Huashan District, I'll kill you!"
"Stupid kid, with that one sentence, you could bring big trouble to Hou Chuanhai... cough," Wen Liang realized he had said the wrong thing. This was 1995, and the internet had just been established in Beijing and Shanghai in January, with the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications announcing the opening of ChinaNet to the public on May 17th, providing all internet services. At that time, ordinary people couldn't afford the internet, so the Hou family had no reason to fear. He cleared his throat and said, "Luckily, you were born a few decades too early, otherwise..."
He didn't finish, and no one asked. Even Xu Yao thought his words were silly. Hou Qiang was telling the truth; would you dare to go to Huashan District and try?
However, Hou Qiang's constant threats to kill people finally enraged Xu Yao. As Hong Hou and Shi Chengcai were about to rush over to save him, Xu Yao suddenly whispered, "Don't tell my dad!" Then, under Wen Liang's puzzled gaze, she kicked Hou Qiang in the stomach.
Silence, absolute silence, except for Hou Qiang's cries of pain!
Xu Yao's kick was quick and subtle, and only a few girls noticed. Despite this, everyone, including Wen Liang, Bai Huan, Hong Hou, Shi Chengcai, and even the crying Hou Qiang, looked at Xu Yao in disbelief, stunned by her action.
Wen Liang hadn't expected Xu Yao to lose her composure and fight in front of so many people. Bai Huan and the others had no idea Xu Yao knew martial arts, having been deceived by her beautiful and innocent appearance, thinking she was a delicate young lady who wouldn't actually fight.
But reality is cruel, and Xu Yao's fierce side was finally exposed in broad daylight.
Xu Yao, embarrassed by everyone's gaze, glared and said, "What are you looking at? Have you never seen a girl fight?"
Bai Huan, Hong Hou, and Shi Chengcai turned their heads simultaneously, their mouths twitching. They had seen many girls fight, but this was the first time they had seen the daughter of the city's party secretary fight on the street!
Wen Liang looked at Hou Qiang with a sympathetic gaze: This kick couldn't be avenged, and being kicked by a girl in public was a stain that couldn't be erased in three years of high school.
Hou Qiang, clutching his stomach, as Wen Liang had guessed, gritted his teeth and swallowed his anger, not daring to do anything to Xu Yao. But his resentment towards the root cause, Wen Liang, burned fiercely.
Wen Liang noticed the almost cutting gaze on him and thought to himself, "I'm really a target even when I'm lying down." However, a cold smile appeared on his lips. "Want to fight? No chance. After tonight, you'll have to keep your tail between your legs!"
Hearing Hou Qiang's cries, the girls gathered around, their eyes darting around, curious. Wen Liang didn't want to make a big deal out of it and whispered, "Young Master Bai, you have guests over there. You should also care about your image. How about this: let's each take a step back. I promise to bet with you tonight!" Wen Liang was sure that once he said this, Bai Huan would immediately regain control. After all, their main goal tonight was Xie Yan. The most beautiful part was that Wen Liang didn't want their plan to fail, but he could use this to pressure Bai Huan.
Bai Huan turned and saw Xie Yan looking this way. If a fight broke out, she might be scared away, affecting their plans for the night. He signaled to Hou Qiang to hold his breath but didn't want to lose face in front of so many girls. He smiled maliciously, "I heard Pei Min say you were going to take the bus. If you're that poor, Wen Liang, I can lend you a car for free."
Hong Hou sneered, his arrogance evident, "You can borrow it, but remember not to dirty it. If a bunch of poor guys can't even afford to wash the car, who will I go to for the money?"
The pretty girl named Pei Min also walked over and said, "That's right, an Audi. You've probably never sat in one, right? This is your lucky day."
The Audi 100, in the early 1990s, filled the gap in the domestic market for high-end cars and became almost the official car of the government. At the time, there was a saying that if you drove an Audi 100, the police wouldn't bother you. So, except for the children of high-ranking officials, few people had sat in such a car.
The girls behind Pei Min immediately started chattering, "Taking the bus is too slow. What if we're tired from singing by the time you get there? Who will be responsible for the loss?"
"Xiaoxi, you're right. This might be Class 1's strategy, to rest and wait for us..."
"Wow, Rongrong, you're so smart!"
Xu Yao, mature and composed, had a faint look of disdain. The other girls from Class 1, however, couldn't stand it. They usually had the upper hand in verbal spats, but today, they were being humiliated over the car issue, and their faces turned red with anger.
Wen Liang suddenly smiled and whispered to Xu Yao, "Watch me perform a magic trick."
