Chapter 71

René's magic appraisal was conducted by the current Elven Queen, Hasanoh, and Samue. After consulting with each other, the two of them carried René to the bedroom to let her rest.

After confirming that René was asleep in bed, they moved to another room and began their discussion. The topic was—René's magic.

"Queen Hasanoh, what were the results of René's magic appraisal?"

Samue looked at Hasanoh with a worried expression. The words Hasanoh had spoken after the appraisal had been on his mind.

Hasanoh closed her eyes and took a breath before starting to speak.

"I had expected that René would be in a state of magic失控, as I had heard from Sonia. And indeed, the appraisal confirmed it."

"René possesses both her own magic and Sonia's. She has both within her."

"Such a thing... is possible?"

Could such a thing be possible? Samue couldn't believe his ears. Possessing the magic of two people at once...

"Originally, Sonia had very strong magic."

"Yes, I've heard that she was the strongest among all the elves. Because of this, she was born with a different color."

"That's right. Sonia was... a special child. Ordinary elves have blonde hair and green eyes, but Sonia had silver hair and blue eyes. These are the colors of the legendary ancestral elves."

Sonia was the strongest among the elves. Her power was evident from the colors she was born with, and she was expected to become the next queen.

"Everything was fine until Sonia became queen. But when she could no longer control her strong magic, I... thought it was inevitable."

Hasanoh was recalling the past. Her proud younger sister, who possessed wonderful magic, was raised to be the next queen and had a kind heart.

...She grew up with a bit of special treatment and became a very gentle and sheltered child among the elves. However, this also made her charming.

When she heard about the magic失控, Hasanoh was very sad and wanted to do something. But deep down, she thought it was inevitable.

A special child born with strong magic. Perhaps that's why such a tragedy could happen...

"Elves might live too long. ...We tend to think about living in the grand flow of things rather than as individuals."

"When I heard about Queen Sonia's magic失控, I despaired. I blamed myself for being powerless and ended up doing nothing..."

Sonia's fate was changed by Ward. He didn't care about her special qualities. He wished to live with Sonia as an individual, not as part of a grand flow, and took action for that. Therefore—

"We must never let René die. I don't want to give up and accept it as inevitable."

"Yes, I want to spend my life with René."

The two of them nodded, their determination reflected in their eyes.

"René has not only Sonia's magic, which was already in a state of失控, but also her own, which is also very strong. I don't know why she has the magic of two people, but we must find a way to control it."

"Yes!"

"In fact, I had been researching a lot even when Sonia was around."

"...Queen Hasanoh, you were mainly focused on research, right?"

"Yes. Although it was too late for Sonia, I've learned from that experience and have been researching more efficiently and continuing my studies to ensure that no one else dies from magic失控."

Hasanoh chuckled softly. Samue looked at her expression and lowered his gaze.

"Queen Hasanoh... You didn't just give up when it came to Queen Sonia... Compared to that, I..."

"Samue, didn't you obtain the 【Jade】 with a human man?"

Hasanoh patted Samue's shoulder.

"René has a large source of magic in her small body, and not just one, but two. I believe that the 【magic pathways】 in her body are becoming thicker, causing a burden on her body."

"The expansion of the 【magic pathways】 is causing a burden on René's body..."

"Fevers, decreased stamina, increased sleepiness, and lethargy. These symptoms that Sonia experienced are, according to my research, due to the expansion of the 【magic pathways】."

Hasanoh nodded to encourage Samue.

"First, when René wakes up, we will cast a spell to thin out the 【magic pathways】 in her body."

"Thinning them out?"

"It won't solve the root problem, but it should alleviate the symptoms René is currently suffering from."

"Understood!"

Samue looked up. Hasanoh closed her eyes gently.

"René is blessed with a talent from heaven. ...We must ensure that this talent does not become a tragedy."
