Sitting in the taxi, Xiao Yi let out a sigh of relief.
Due to his personality and the special experiences of the past few years, he preferred to blend into the crowd like a fish in water, becoming just an ordinary teenager that no one paid much attention to. He had an instinctive aversion to being the center of attention, like being surrounded by stars.
If Chen Jianguo had sent him to Z University, or even if Liu Yuan had sent him, he was sure it would attract a lot of attention, such as from school leaders, which he really didn't want to happen.
He didn't know why he was going to Z University, but he believed that with the old man's character, who always had hidden motives in everything he said, there must be a reason. Before he figured out what that reason was, it was best to keep a low profile.
"Sir, where are you going?"
The taxi driver slowly drove the car forward and, seeing that Xiao Yi wasn't speaking, asked.
Xiao Yi took out a simple, old-fashioned phone that vaguely showed the Nokia logo, checked the time, hesitated for a moment, and then said, "To Z University."
It was already close to noon, and by the time he arrived at Z University, classes would likely be over. However, Xiao Yi decided to go to the school first. Since he didn't have much luggage, just a light cloth bag, if he arrived after classes were over and couldn't register, he could just walk around the campus to familiarize himself with it and then register in the afternoon.
"Oh, okay."
The driver nodded. Seeing that Xiao Yi didn't seem to like talking much, he was happy to be quiet and focused on driving the car towards Z University.
As Chen Jianguo had said, when Xiao Yi arrived at Z University, it was already past twelve, and the last class had ended. The administrative offices of the school had already closed.
Xiao Yi stood at the entrance of the school, looked up at the gate of Z University, and immediately felt a sense of ancient and solemn atmosphere.
Looking at the young, vibrant faces of the students entering and exiting the school, Xiao Yi couldn't help but smile faintly. From now on, he would be one of them. Perhaps among these unfamiliar faces, there would be his future classmates.
Feeling the curious or surprised gazes of those around him, Xiao Yi put aside his complex emotions and walked into the school.
As one of the top universities in the country, Z University, besides its academic achievements, was also recently ranked fifth among the top fifty beautiful campuses in the country. The school's facilities and landscaping were first-class.
Modern, spacious, and bright teaching buildings were interspersed with ancient pavilions and terraces, creating a perfect blend of Chinese gardens and Western architecture, making it a place where one could linger and forget to leave.
Even as a scenic spot, it was worth a visit.
The ancient and solemn auditorium, the fragrant lotus pond...
Walking on the campus road of Z University, feeling the beauty and the unique tranquility of the university, Xiao Yi couldn't help but secretly admire his decision to come to Z University. Although he had heard the old man say that he was found near Z University and had long heard of the school's reputation, this was his first time actually coming here. Previous attempts to visit had been thwarted by various reasons.
Xiao Yi was enjoying the beautiful scenery and the unique atmosphere of the campus when he suddenly felt a force rushing towards him. His brows furrowed slightly, and he instinctively tried to step aside. Despite being engrossed in the campus, he remained alert to his surroundings.
But at the last moment, he hesitated and stood back. Next to him was a tree, and if he moved, the person might have collided with the tree. Most importantly, he felt that the person rushing towards him wasn't doing it intentionally, as he could hear the irregular heartbeat and breathing.
"Thud!"
As he stood back, he heard a thud, and a soft body collided with him.
"Are you okay?"
Xiao Yi looked down at the person in front of him. Such a collision didn't affect him at all.
"Ah, I'm sorry, really sorry... Ah, it's you?"
Wang Qingqing, who had been thinking about something while walking hurriedly, hadn't noticed she was about to collide with someone. When she realized she had almost crashed head-on, her chest had hit the other person's chest, she felt both embarrassed and apologetic. She looked up with a guilty expression, but her mouth opened wide in surprise when she recognized the person.
The person she had collided with was the strange boy she had met on the train, the one who had helped her twice and whom she had regretted not getting his phone number.
"Ha ha, it's you."
Xiao Yi also recognized the girl from the train and was slightly surprised. He hadn't expected to meet her again so soon.
"Why are you here?"
Wang Qingqing, regaining her composure, asked in surprise. Then, she remembered something and asked excitedly, "Are you a student at Z University too?"
"Ha ha, you could say that."
Xiao Yi smiled. He hadn't officially registered yet, but it was almost certain that he would be a student there unless something unexpected happened.
"That's great! Thank you for your help on the train! I'm Wang Qingqing, a second-year student in the Law School. What about you?"
Wang Qingqing didn't notice the word "could" in Xiao Yi's response and immediately extended her white hand in a friendly manner.
"Xiao Yi, first year, Mathematics Department."
Xiao Yi smiled and shook her hand lightly. Hearing Wang Qingqing's introduction, he understood. No wonder she had shown such a strong sense of justice on the train. Law students, influenced by their teachers' emphasis on legal justice, often had an excess of righteousness and enthusiasm. However, after a few years of work and experience in society, most of them lost their idealism and passion, becoming like the suit-wearing legal professionals. Those who could maintain and uphold their ideals were as rare as phoenix feathers and unicorn horns.
