I picked up this "Golden Shroud" and stood up, somewhat dazed for a moment.
This person had said many unbelievable things, and the reason I didn't question him was that I was forcing myself to believe everything. I needed a target for revenge to keep myself going.
Even now, I still find it hard to believe that I went from being an ordinary child with a family, not very wealthy but living a simple life, to becoming an orphan! And now I'm even involved with the dark world.
In my heart, there is not only hatred but also a lot of confusion.
He suddenly smiled and said, "Actually, choosing to resurrect your parents would be easier than killing Loki, but to resurrect someone, you still have to enter the dark world..."
"What!" I was shocked, my whole body trembling. "Can the dark world really resurrect the dead?" He chuckled lightly, "Yes!"
I shouted, "Tell me, how can I resurrect the dead?"
"The dark world has the power to resurrect the dead! But... whether it's killing Loki or resurrecting the dead, both are far beyond your reach. I'm just telling you that it's possible. I don't have that power, so I can't tell you how to do it. But if you can enter the dark world, you can look for someone called the Ugly King. He is the only one I know who has the power to resurrect the dead. The Ugly King has a terrible temper, and killing people is as easy for him as breathing. You'd better have a certain level of strength before you go to him, or he might kill you first, and then you'll have no hope at all."
"How can I find the Ugly King?"
He shrugged and said, "I don't know. The Ugly King's whereabouts have always been mysterious. You'll have to find him on your own." Seeing that I had calmed down and was no longer so impulsive, he waved his hand, threw a room card to me, and said with a light laugh, "I booked two rooms. You can go to the one next door and get a good night's sleep. Things will be a little better tomorrow, including the person you hate."
I stood up like a zombie and pushed open the door to the hallway.
I didn't even think about which side the person meant by "next door." I just took a few steps and tried the room card. My luck was good, and the door clicked open immediately. I inserted the room card into the power socket in a daze and then walked into the room, sitting in a chair, motionless for a long time.
As the night deepened, I suddenly felt something sticky on my head and reached up to touch it.
I had almost forgotten about the Golden Shroud in my hand, but this touch reopened a wound on my head that I didn't know I had, staining it with blood.
"Damn!"
Although I didn't like this golden fabric and even less the ugly name "Golden Shroud," this thing represented the hope of avenging Loki, so I didn't want to dirty it. I hurriedly stood up and was about to go to the bathroom to clean it, but then I couldn't believe my eyes. I saw that the blood on the Golden Shroud was being absorbed.
The golden fabric made a hissing sound, like a child drinking through a straw, and soon it was clean again.
I instinctively used it to wipe my head, but I quickly realized how foolish this action was.
By the time I realized it, it was too late. The "Golden Shroud" sprouted countless flesh buds that drilled into my wound, and my face turned pale in an instant.
"Get the hell away from me!"
I pulled with all my might, almost tearing off a large piece of flesh and blood from my head.
This thing was extremely sinister, trying to drink my blood and eat my flesh. I stomped on it with all my strength, not knowing what to use against it. At that moment, I saw a lighter that the hotel had provided for guests. I grabbed the lighter and, when I lit it, held the "Golden Shroud" over the flame. An extremely angry voice echoed in my mind.
"Miserable creature, you dare to destroy my great will! I will punish you..."
"Great my ass! You want to eat my flesh and drink my blood, so you should have thought about your own fate." I roared fiercely, but a chilling feeling immediately seized my heart, and something indescribable tried to enter my mind. I didn't know how to deal with "it," so I could only shout and scream, trying to make myself more "ferocious."
This resistance was initially ineffective, and my consciousness quickly became blurred, and I felt a strong desire to sleep.
I had a vague feeling that if I really "fell asleep," I might never wake up, so I desperately tried to find a way to resist. Perhaps it was a stroke of luck, but as my last bit of consciousness was about to fade, I suddenly remembered the images that person had shown me.
The familiar faces of my parents, now twisted in agony, suddenly filled me with boundless anger. This anger forcibly held back the temptation to sleep and resisted the evil consciousness.
This mental battle was the best whetstone. Though I knew nothing about this field, I gradually mastered some crude techniques in this life-and-death struggle.
The technique was to use extreme emotions to strengthen one's will, and I was currently very angry and also very—terrified!
Anger and fear can both maximize a person's potential, including mental strength.
This struggle was intangible but intense. The anger and fear over my parents' death and the unknown merged, making my will stronger and unleashing tremendous potential. The voice from the Golden Shroud became increasingly angry, cursing me continuously, but it seemed powerless against me.
This mental struggle went on for an unknown amount of time, and I suddenly felt the pressure ease. The extremely evil will let out a long, mournful howl and then burst like a bubble.
My consciousness surged into the Golden Shroud and took the place of the original "it."
The extreme mental fatigue made me faint immediately after realizing my victory.
I had never fainted in my life, but in one day, I had been knocked out once by someone and once by this strange fabric, which seemed to foreshadow that my life would be different from now on.
When I woke up, I was no longer in the hotel but in a car.
