Chapter 16

Time seemed to stand still, and the chaotic battlefield in the distance no longer felt real. Staring at the massive double-bladed sword that had cleaved the ground, Theresa covered her face and wept bitterly. It was her fault... Why had she impulsively pulled him onto her mount back then? Not only had she failed to protect the queen, but she had also endangered another person!

"Ha ha ha... This is the consequence of opposing us demons! Everything will be destroyed!" Manolos laughed maniacally. Although he had not succeeded in destroying Azshara, he had severely wounded the elves.

"Don't be too pleased!" A voice came from under the giant sword.

"Huh?~" Manolos, who had been gloating, let out a strange cry. No wonder the feeling of the double-bladed sword cutting down didn't feel like crushing an ant; instead, it felt... Suspicious, he lifted the double-bladed sword.

Sure enough! Under the massive double-bladed sword, Mu Feng had actually used his dagger to block Manolos' devastating strike!

"How is this possible?" Manolos couldn't believe it; this was completely against all logic! Is this guy... a monster?

"I didn't expect... to succeed again!" Mu Feng struggled to lift his head, revealing a victorious smile. At that moment, he was surrounded by a dark green flame.

Although he had managed to block the swift strike, Mu Feng was still forced into a pit half a person deep. But he stood straight, his knees not bending even a bit. Just before the double-bladed sword was about to strike him, he finally unleashed the vast energy buried within him!

The reason Mu Feng could suddenly burst out during the Trial Cave battle was that failing the hidden quest would result in his character being deleted, forcing him to start over. The anger and frustration made Mu Feng go berserk, ultimately causing a physical transformation and an explosion of endless energy!

This time, the situation was similar. Although it hadn't reached the point of deletion, the system had clearly stated when he accepted the quest that the Heroic Class Change quest could only be accepted once and would disappear once completed. If Mu Feng had been killed just now, it would have been as humiliating as being forcibly deleted!

"System notification! The player has triggered an unknown skill for the second time. This skill is now officially recorded, and the player can name it!"

"Soul Burning!" Mu Feng replied. The state of rage indeed felt like burning his soul. It was powerful but also terrifying! Under endless anger, he felt like he might lose his self-awareness and become a terrifying demon!

"System notification, naming successful. New skill: Soul Burning, Level 1. Anger surges, the body is covered in flames of rage, attack and defense increase by 300%, the probability of triggering skills and items increases by 100% for 30 seconds, with a one-hour cooldown. Upgrade conditions unknown!"

It seemed the system had solidified Mu Feng's skill, but in reality, it had weakened it. In the Trial Cave, Mu Feng's burst state was far more than 300%. To reach the original strength, he would need to find a way to upgrade the skill! The duration and cooldown were also added as constraints for this overpowered skill.

Even though he had successfully blocked Manolos' strike, Mu Feng's health was down to 50. Without hesitation, he immediately used the active effect of the Life Stone. +1330! A large green number appeared, and Mu Feng's health was restored to full.

Mu Feng's hand gently caressed the Blood Curse Demon Blade in his left hand. The Blood Curse skill, which he had kept until now, was finally the time to use it!

Blood Curse! A red light shot out from the Blood Curse Demon Blade, immediately covering Manolos' body in a fiery red. With the Blood Curse, his attack and defense were reduced by 75%! He lost 2% of his maximum health per second for 30 seconds!

"Ugh!~" This was the moment. The time for Soul Burning was limited. Mu Feng, filled with endless rage, leaped onto the massive double-bladed sword and ran toward Manolos' body.

"Huh?" Not expecting Mu Feng to do this, Manolos instinctively raised his double-bladed sword, creating a perfect runway for Mu Feng! With each step, Mu Feng left a burning mark on the sword.

"Ah!~" After running to Manolos' wrist, Mu Feng leaped into the air and, like he did with the succubus Mary, activated Blade Traverse. At the highest point, Mu Feng's body rose another 15 yards in the air, landing on Manolos' massive head!

-577, -415, -2015! Even with 75% reduced defense, Manolos' defense was still astonishing, and his health was over 20 million!

"Who are you to stand on my head?" A lowly ant daring to stand on his head, Manolos was thoroughly enraged. -400,000! At the same time, an unimaginable number appeared above Manolos' head. The percentage damage from Blood Curse was astonishing on his massive health.

With only 30 seconds left for Soul Burning, which coincided with the duration of Blood Curse, Mu Feng had to deal as much damage as possible. While dodging Manolos' attacks, Mu Feng leaped all over his body, continuously attacking.

"Damn it, get down!" Manolos' body was too large and cumbersome, leaving him helpless against Mu Feng jumping on his back.

The 100% increase in the probability of triggering skills made the frequency of Instant Shadow's activation skyrocket. Numerous illusions appeared on Manolos' back, further increasing Mu Feng's damage output.

"Damn elves!" The damage from Blood Curse was truly astonishing, and Manolos had to take it seriously. Mu Feng, like a nimble flea, ran all over his massive body, leaving him helpless.

At this moment, the elven army finally broke through the demon's defenses and reached the World Tree. The elven leaders also arrived one by one. The situation had completely turned in favor of the elves.

"Ha ha, mission completed!" 20 million health, this was not something a beginner should kill. Just holding out until the main force arrived was a victory. With only five seconds left for Soul Burning, Mu Feng jumped off Manolos' back and prepared to run back to the elven experts. There, he would be safe, and the Heroic Class Change quest would be considered completed!

"Want to run? Not so easy!" Planted with Blood Curse, Manolos had lost a massive amount of health. Losing so much blood and being toyed with like a fool, he wouldn't let Mu Feng go easily. He stabbed his chest with his sharp claws, opening a blood hole, and a black blood droplet shot toward Mu Feng.

"Snap!" In the air, Mu Feng couldn't dodge and was hit by the blood droplet, falling to the ground. The black blood acted like glue, sticking him to the spot.

"This is a glorious battle. But my lifeblood won't be easily destroyed! Try your best, boy. One day, we will meet again! Then, you will feel my true power! And the price will be becoming a part of our demon army! Ha ha ha..." The defeated Fear Lord laughed maniacally, flapping his wings and flying away. No one could stop him. In fact, he still had half his health, nearly 10 million!

"Ah!~" Bathed in the blood of a top demon, Mu Feng let out a painful cry. The blood seemed to have a life of its own, climbing up his body, searching for something. Finally, it found the runes originally inscribed on Mu Feng's body. The array glowed brightly, and Manolos' demon blood continuously flowed into his body.

"System notification, the player has absorbed the blood of Abyssal Lord Manolos, receiving a demonic curse. The effects of the curse are unknown. The player's reputation with the elves will be permanently cold until the curse is removed."

"System notification, congratulations on completing the Heroic Class Change quest for a Demon Hunter. You have successfully advanced to a Demon Hunter Soldier! You have received the Heroic title of Demon Hunter. You have permanently gained a Demon Value bar. Consuming Demon Value can enhance certain Demon Hunter skills."

"Demon Value, initial 500 points, maximum 1000 points. Killing a demon increases Demon Value based on the demon's strength. Activating Demon Value consumption will consume 10 points per second and enhance certain Demon Hunter skills. Sacrifice, under Demon Value burst effect, damage increases by 100% and takes 50% reduced damage. Fierce Strike, under Demon Value burst effect, always critical hits! Blade Traverse, under Demon Value burst effect, can be used again within the first five seconds of the initial use, and will enter cooldown after the second use or after five seconds."

"System notification, the player Melancholy Wind is the first in the world to complete a Heroic Class Change quest, receiving the Heroic title and exclusive rewards. Players, keep up the good work and aim for more Heroic Class Change quests."

"System notification..." Unexpectedly, the system announced it three times worldwide without asking Mu Feng! This immediately drew exclamations from all players. Many were still struggling to reach level 10, while Mu Feng had already completed a Heroic difficulty class change quest! Some experts working on Heroic difficulty class changes were even more determined to complete them quickly.

"Melancholy Wind, are you okay?" Theresa, who had recovered somewhat, helped Mu Feng up, asking with concern.

"I should be fine." Mu Feng was a bit dazed by the sudden rewards and curse. The two of them went to the altar, where the flames had died down. Queen Azshara lay quietly on the altar, her clothes intact and without any wounds. Her stunning beauty left Mu Feng in awe. Her expression was peaceful, like a sleeping beauty.

"Queen..." Theresa prayed silently. A beam of moonlight shone through the cloudy sky, landing on Azshara. Soon, her eyelashes fluttered, and she finally woke up.

"Theresa... It's good, the disaster is finally over." Seeing Theresa, Queen Azshara spoke weakly, feeling relieved.

"Queen!" Seeing the queen awake, Theresa couldn't help but cry again. She had shed too many tears today.

"Thank you for everything you've done for the elves, but my life has been drained by the evil ritual. Theresa, I now formally pass the queen's authority to you!"

"Queen, how can this be? I can't do it!" Theresa hurriedly refused.

"I believe in you! My time is short. Do you want me to leave this world with regret?"

"But... I understand, I will do my best!" Theresa, tears streaming down her face, agreed.

"Good..." Seeing Theresa nod, a satisfied smile appeared on Azshara's tired face.

"And this..." The queen gently raised her hand, forming a silver orb.

"This... what is it?" Theresa quickly took the glowing orb from the queen's trembling hand.

"This... is my daughter! A potential Demon Hunter hero. Please take her and raise her well! This is my last request..." To Mu Feng's surprise, this was the queen's gift to him!

"I will!" Mu Feng carefully stored the silver orb, not daring to be careless.

"..." As Mu Feng agreed, Azshara smiled and closed her eyes forever, her raised hand suddenly falling. A generation of queen had fallen.

"Queen!~" The elven leadership, now gathered, were deeply moved by the queen's passing.

The sky suddenly darkened, and countless yellow leaves fell from the sky, as if mourning the fall of a great hero.

"Wait! The World Tree is connected to the queen's life. It's starting to wither!" The elven leadership finally realized.

"Crack, crack, crack..." Indeed, the once lush World Tree began to wither rapidly, its lifeless branches unable to support its massive size, causing a loud rumble.

"The World Tree is falling!" As people exclaimed, the World Tree began to crack, one of the horizontal cracks especially large, eventually causing the World Tree to collapse completely. Amidst the dust, the elven spirit's pillar became a pile of ruins...

Staring at the scene before him, Mu Feng felt a bit dazed. Was this a game, or reality?
