"Hello, my name is Zhang Wei. May I ask for your honorable surname?" The short man extended his hand to shake hands with Mu Feng.
"My surname is Mu." Mu Feng’s hand, which was tucked into his belt, showed no intention of coming out.
"Um..." Zhang Wei’s hand hung awkwardly in the air.
"Please sit down." Mu Feng invited the two men into the room, pointing at the sofa with a rather indifferent tone, and sat down on a single-person sofa first.
"Thank you!" Zhang Wei immediately sat down with an awkward smile, followed by the burly man behind him.
"There has been a murder case on the streets near your home recently. A woman was brutally killed in broad daylight. Are you aware of this?"
"I don’t know about it." Mu Feng replied calmly. If he hadn’t happened to come across it, he really wouldn’t have known about it.
"Cough, cough... The criminal is still at large, so we hope you can provide us with some information! Otherwise, the safety of the surrounding residents will be threatened."
"Ask your questions. However, my sister and I rarely go out, so I’m afraid I can’t help you much."
"Then, where were you around 9:00 AM the day before yesterday?" Zhang Wei looked sharply at Mu Feng.
"9:00 AM? I was probably already at home by then."
"Then, were you out before 9:00 AM?" Zhang Wei continued to press.
"Yes, I was out. I always personally take my sister to school unless it’s a holiday. After dropping her off, I went to the mall to buy some things. I didn’t go out again until 3:00 PM to pick her up."
"Then, which street did you take when you came back from the mall?" Zhang Wei took out a notebook and started writing.
"It’s called... Sanhao Street, I think? I didn’t pay much attention to the street names." Mu Feng thought for a moment before answering.
"The woman was killed near Sanhao Street!" Zhang Wei’s tone became more serious. "Didn’t you notice anything unusual that day?"
"No, it felt the same as usual."
"Thank you for your cooperation!" Realizing he couldn’t get any more information, Zhang Wei stood up and ended the questioning.
"You’re welcome. I hope you catch the criminal soon." Mu Feng also stood up to see them out.
"Bang!" After the door closed, Mu Feng immediately leaned against it and peered through the peephole. Zhang Wei and his companion walked away without any communication. Seeing this, Mu Feng’s worries deepened. He wasn’t good at or willing to deceive people with acting.
"There’s something wrong with this guy!" After leaving Mu Feng and Xiaojin’s home, Zhang Wei suddenly said to his companion.
"Something wrong? I didn’t see anything!" The burly man scratched his head, puzzled.
"He’s too calm! A normal person wouldn’t be this calm when questioned by the police!" Zhang Wei said firmly.
"Then, let’s go back and catch him!"
"No, order someone to keep an eye on this man! He’s not a criminal, just possibly an unregistered ability user. Although he didn’t save the woman, he definitely isn’t a bad person from the way he killed the werewolf!" Zhang Wei shook his head.
"Understood!"
After they left, Mu Feng immediately returned to the room and took out the hidden gun from under the pillow. Although the other party seemed natural, Mu Feng still felt he was being suspected. Could it be... time to use this gun? He put the gun on safety and placed it in his pocket, deciding to carry it with him.
He couldn’t just sit and wait to be caught. Mu Feng had to find a way to change the situation. Escaping was a good option, but where could he go? Suddenly, he remembered Xueyue Qingshuang’s invitation for him and Xiaojin to stay at her newly purchased villa!
But... this would put Xueyue Qingshuang in danger... Mu Feng hesitated. So, there was only one place to go for temporary refuge: the old house in the rundown neighborhood where he and Xiaojin used to live!
"Xiaojin!" Mu Feng knocked on Xiaojin’s door.
"Come in!" Xiaojin’s voice came from inside, protesting that Mu Feng was knocking.
When Mu Feng opened the door, he saw Xiaojin lying on the bed, playing on the computer, looking very happy. Her slender legs were swinging, and the hem of her black dress had unknowingly risen to her thighs, revealing her beautiful legs. A little higher and her cute underwear would be visible. Xiaojin, who trusted Mu Feng completely, didn’t realize she was exposing herself.
"Xiaojin, do you still have the game helmet I bought for you?" Despite the trouble, Mu Feng remained calm in front of Xiaojin.
"It’s there!" Xiaojin pointed to a corner of the table. Sure enough, the helmet was there. Mu Feng picked it up, checked it, and put it away.
"Xiaojin, do you want to go back to the old house?" Mu Feng asked as gently as possible.
"Huh? Why?" Xiaojin was full of questions. They hadn’t been back to that house in a long time, so why would her brother suddenly bring it up?
"Nothing, I just want to stay there for a few days." For safety, Mu Feng wanted to move with Xiaojin as soon as possible.
"Okay..." Seeing Mu Feng’s determination, Xiaojin agreed, though she didn’t understand the situation.
Although they had a plan to move, Mu Feng and Xiaojin still logged in on time that night. When they logged in, Ye Luochengdie was already there.
"You’re finally here. Are we doing the mission tonight?" Ye Luochengdie asked.
"Yes, but we need to log off at 12:00 AM." Mu Feng replied.
"Huh? Why?" Ye Luochengdie asked, puzzled. She and Mu Feng and Xiaojin had never encountered such a situation while leveling up together.
"There are some things..." Mu Feng didn’t want to explain too much. He then contacted Xueyue Qingshuang.
"Wow, you’re actually contacting me voluntarily, that’s rare!" Xueyue Qingshuang sounded happy when she received Mu Feng’s message.
"How’s the promotion going?"
"Very well! Now Baihe is leading the sisters to recruit in the main city!" Following Mu Feng’s advice was definitely the right move!
"That’s good. I need to ask you something."
"What is it?" Xueyue Qingshuang asked curiously.
"That day, when I said forming a guild would require a lot of money, you said it wasn’t a problem. What is your real identity?"
"Um... I can’t really say."
"Then, if Xiaojin and I are being pursued, can you protect us?" Mu Feng asked in a different way. This was very important; if she couldn’t, he wouldn’t drag her into it.
"Protect? No problem, no one can hurt you with me around! What, are you in trouble? Did the Shifang Jiemie people do this?" Mu Feng seemed to be in a life-threatening situation, and Xueyue Qingshuang’s voice turned cold.
"Not them, but knowing you are there makes me feel better. Can we meet in real life tomorrow?"
"Sure, where?"
"At..."
"Xiaojin... Xiaojin..." After 12:00 AM, Mu Feng and Xiaojin logged out of the game. He picked up the backpack he had prepared and went to Xiaojin’s room to gently wake her up.
"Mmm..." Xiaojin’s game pod opened, and she was still half-asleep, unable to open her eyes.
"Xiaojin, we need to leave!" Mu Feng picked up Xiaojin and held her in his arms. He only had a backpack with a few changes of clothes for both of them and a bank card. Of course, there was also the game helmet.
Without turning on the lights, Mu Feng quietly opened the door and carried Xiaojin out. He didn’t plan to drive; he would just hail a passing taxi on the street.
"Where are you going?" Just as Mu Feng was about to leave, a cold voice came from behind. Mu Feng turned around to see Zhang Wei and his men!
"I can go wherever I want, it’s none of your business!" Mu Feng turned back and said coldly, covering Xiaojin’s face with a hat.
"Of course it is. You left immediately after I visited you this morning, which gives me every reason to suspect you are the murderer!" Zhang Wei pointed at Mu Feng with his index finger.
"Stop pretending. You should know better than I do who killed that woman. I only killed the werewolf!"
"Indeed, you are the ability user who killed the werewolf, and you overheard what I said when I first arrived!" Zhang Wei was convinced that the mysterious person who killed the werewolf and escaped was Mu Feng.
"Right, so what?"
"Nothing, we are from the Ability Users Association. As long as you join us and come under the leadership of the state, there will be no more mysteries!" Zhang Wei smiled. "How about it? You won’t lose anything."
"Why should I believe you?" Mu Feng pulled out his gun and aimed it at Zhang Wei.
"A gun? You actually have this kind of thing?"
"What, surprised?" With the gun in hand, Mu Feng finally felt some confidence. He aimed the gun at Zhang Wei’s head.
