Chapter 77

6 min read1,425 words

On Saturday, my best friend got married. After drinking last night, I started writing, and only just finished. The weekend update is probably going to be delayed. If I have time, I'll write, but I'm sorry everyone!

The following is the main text:

Lee Ji-hyun, a student in the theater department at Myongji University in South Korea, has always been particularly fond of acting. She is also very beautiful. When she was applying for university, she chose to study theater. After entering college, she gradually took on some print ads. A girl who had previously shot an ad with her called her, telling her about an opportunity to make a cameo appearance in a TV drama. Without a second thought, Lee Ji-hyun went for it, and the result was what Lee Jung saw yesterday.

After listening to Lee Ji-hyun's story, Lee Jung felt that she was truly a pitiful girl. For a chance to appear in a TV drama, she almost lost herself.

"Alright, go wash up. You were so sick last night, don't eat anything hard today. I'll take you to have some porridge later." Lee Jung felt that the Lee Ji-hyun in front of him was truly pitiful.

Lee Ji-hyun, looking at her disheveled state, blushed a bit. She got up, tidied her clothes, and went to the bathroom. As soon as she entered, she hurried to take off her stockings. She had woken up because she needed to use the bathroom, but the unfamiliar environment and the presence of a man had made her hold it until now.

However, before she could take them off, Lee Jung's voice came, "Don't take them off, that's glass!" Lee Ji-hyun's face turned even redder when she saw the right wall. It turned out that the bathroom and the bedroom were separated by a glass wall, which was transparent. People in the bedroom could see the bathroom, and vice versa. Neither of them had noticed this before.

Fortunately, there was a venetian blind on the glass. Lee Ji-hyun pulled it down, and the redness on her face slightly subsided. She quickly sat on the toilet, and the sound of the water made her face even redder.

When Lee Ji-hyun came out of the bathroom, Lee Jung had to admit that the girl in front of him was a genuine beauty. Her face, without any makeup, was as fair as jade, with delicate eyebrows, a straight and delicate nose, and a small mouth. Her figure was just right, truly rare.

Lee Ji-hyun, noticing that Lee Jung was looking at her, felt a bit embarrassed. However, she could see that there was no lust or lewdness in his eyes, only admiration. Therefore, she didn't feel repulsed; instead, she had a desire to be praised by Lee Jung.

"Alright, it's already nine in the morning. Don't you have classes today?" Lee Jung asked after seeing that Lee Ji-hyun had finished tidying up.

"Um, there are very few classes now. Everyone is out looking for opportunities to get noticed." Lee Ji-hyun said as she put on her blazer.

"Hehe, that's good. Come with me. I'll take you home after we eat." Lee Jung said with a smile.

When they were checking out at the lobby on the first floor, Lee Jung felt uncomfortable under the gazes of the crowd, let alone Lee Ji-hyun. Lee Ji-hyun stayed close to Lee Jung, using his body to shield her from the gazes. However, this posture made them look like an intimate couple.

Finally, after checking out, they rushed out as if they had just won a battle. "What a place!" Lee Jung looked back at the hotel's sign.

Lee Jung took a taxi to fetch his car, which he had left at the hotel last night. After all, he had to go drinking in the evening. Then, he took Lee Ji-hyun to a porridge shop he often visited. As soon as they entered, the sweet smell in the room made Lee Ji-hyun's stomach growl. "Hehe, this is their special pumpkin porridge, very sweet. You can try it," Lee Jung said, finding a window seat and ordering a variety of small dishes, such as steamed buns, pies, and shrimp dumplings. This was a Taiwanese-owned shop, and Lee Jung had visited it with Uncle Yuan before, so he would come here when he had time.

Lee Ji-hyun filled her bowl with pumpkin porridge and ate a few shrimp dumplings. If Lee Jung hadn't stopped her, she would have eaten even more. She thought to herself that there were such delicious places, and she would definitely come often in the future.

However, when Lee Jung paid the bill, Lee Ji-hyun gave up the idea of coming often. A breakfast cost 100,000 won, which was not something an ordinary person could afford. Lee Ji-hyun also became curious about Lee Jung's identity.

"Where do you live now? I'll take you back." After eating, Lee Jung planned to take Lee Ji-hyun back and then go find Zhang Xun. He estimated that the script for the movie would be finished today, and they could start filming in a few days.

"Um, in the Yumong Apartments in Cheongdam-dong," Lee Ji-hyun said.

"Yumong Apartments, that's a high-end apartment. I didn't know you were a rich person," Lee Jung said, realizing that Cheongdam-dong was not far from where he lived.

"You'll see when you come to my place," Lee Ji-hyun said, her tone a bit low.

They arrived without further conversation. Lee Jung parked the car and followed Lee Ji-hyun into the Yumong Apartments. Instead of taking the elevator, she went down the stairs to the basement. It turned out that each apartment building in Cheongdam-dong had some basement units for rent, catering to young people who needed to work in the Gangnam area. The rent was not cheap but not expensive either, and no deposit was required, making it popular among young people from other regions who came to Seoul to work.

Lee Jung followed her through a series of turns and stopped in front of a white door. "I live here," Lee Ji-hyun said, opening the door.

It was a small single room, probably about 10 square meters, with a bed, a desk, a wardrobe, and a small private bathroom, all visible at a glance.

"You live here?" Lee Jung asked, somewhat surprised.

"Um, I live here. This room was previously rented by a senior of mine. She recently got a role in a TV drama and became somewhat famous, so she rented a single apartment. This is one of the three basement apartments with a private bathroom, and it costs about 200,000 won a month," Lee Ji-hyun explained.

Lee Jung didn't quite understand. 200,000 won might not be enough to rent a good place in Cheongdam-dong, but with an additional 50,000 won, one could rent a decent single apartment elsewhere and commute to this area.

Lee Ji-hyun let Lee Jung into the room. Lee Jung saw clothes all over the bed, including pink underwear, leaving no place to sit. Lee Ji-hyun noticed this and quickly tidied up the bed and put the clothes in the wardrobe.

"I'm used to living alone. You're the first friend to come to my place," Lee Ji-hyun said, blushing a bit.

"Can't you live somewhere else? It's a bit far, but the conditions are much better. Are you making money by taking on some ads now?" Lee Jung looked around, seeing nothing much, just a Samsung laptop on the desk.

"I'm doing some print ads and modeling for fashion shows, like those in department store promotions. I used to live outside, but sometimes, when there are events in Myeongdong, we often can't make it in time, or by the time we get there, there's no good work left. Also, this place is close to some film companies, where there are often actor auditions. So, if there's an opportunity, I stay here," Lee Ji-hyun explained.

"Is your monthly living expenses enough?" Lee Jung was a bit puzzled. Although he didn't know how much Lee Ji-hyun earned, her current living standards didn't seem too good.

"It's okay. My monthly living expenses are about 800,000 won. My family sends me 200,000 won, and the rest I earn myself," Lee Ji-hyun said, somewhat proudly. The cost of living in Seoul is not cheap; a bus ticket costs 1,000 won, and a taxi costs 2,200 won, so Lee Ji-hyun earns quite a bit every month.
