Chapter 2

As night deepened, the darkness was impenetrable, and the scenery was invisible. But the mountains were not tranquil; fierce beasts roared, shaking the mountains and rivers, causing the myriad trees to tremble and leaves to rustle and fall.

In the vast mountain ranges, prehistoric beasts roamed, and ancient species emerged, with various terrifying sounds echoing in the darkness, as if tearing apart the heavens and earth.

In the mountains, a gentle light could be seen from afar, flickering like a candle in the endless darkness, ready to be extinguished at any moment.

As one approached, it became clear that there was a massive piece of dead wood, with a trunk diameter of over ten meters, completely charred. Apart from the main trunk, it had only one delicate branch left, but this branch was radiating vitality. The leaves were as clear as green jade, and the gentle light spread, enveloping a village.

To be precise, this was a lightning-struck tree, which had been struck by a powerful bolt of lightning many years ago, destroying its massive crown and vigorous vitality. Now, only a tree stump about eight to nine meters high remained on the surface, astonishingly thick, while the single willow branch glowed like a green misty chain, enveloping and protecting the entire village, making this settlement appear misty and ethereal, like a fairyland, mysterious amidst the vast wilderness.

The houses in the village were all stone houses. In the dead of night, the village was peaceful and serene, as if isolated from the darkness and beast roars outside.

“Whoo…”

A fierce wind blew, and a massive cloud covered the entire night sky, blocking the few stars, making the mountains even darker.

A fierce bird call came from the high sky, piercing through the air, originating from the cloud. Upon closer inspection, it was an incredibly large bird, blocking the sky and moon, its length unknown.

Passing over the stone village, it looked down, its two eyes like two blood moons, radiating fierce energy. It stared at the old willow tree for a moment before flying towards the deepest part of the mountains.

After a long period of calm, the earth began to tremble in the early hours of the night. A vague figure approached from the distance, as tall as the mountains!

An inexplicable aura spread, and the mountains and valleys fell into a deathly silence. Fierce birds and beasts lay dormant, not daring to make a sound.

As it drew near, it was clear that this was a humanoid creature, walking upright, astonishingly large, its height rivaling the mountains. It had no hair, and its body was covered in golden scales that shone brightly. Its face was flat, with only one vertical eye, which, when opened and closed, resembled a golden lightning bolt, sharp and intimidating. Its overall blood energy was like the sea, resembling a divine being!

It passed by this place, glanced at the old willow tree, paused briefly, and then hurriedly moved on, many mountains shaking from its footsteps, the ground trembling violently.

At dawn, a ten-meter-long, water-bucket-thick, silver-shimmering centipede wound its way through the mountains, as if cast in silver, each segment gleaming and menacing, making a clanging sound as it moved over the rocks, sparks flying. But it ultimately avoided the stone village, not invading, and wherever it passed, black fog billowed, and all beasts retreated.

A delicate willow branch, emitting a gentle green glow, swayed gently in the wind...
