Prologue
Shit.
I felt my vision getting redder and redder, and I uttered a curse in my mind.
“Damn it!”
Suddenly, a warning window popped up in front of me.
[HP has fallen below 10%.]
As my blurred vision gradually began to focus, I saw a man standing before me.
“You’re still alive?”
The man with the sword captured me entirely with his cold and frosty gaze.
My eyes stayed on the bloody blade, and I got goosebumps all over my body at the thought that the blood dripping from that knife was the liquid that had been flowing through my veins just a moment ago.
Nevertheless, I could no longer escape, and had no choice but to lean back on my bed and catch my breath.
After all, my right leg had been cut in half by his sword.
“Marvis, knight of Lady- keuk! Your job as an assassin comes first, I know that.”
I managed to speak out.
“I am obeying my master’s orders.”
It’s not your master but the girl you like, that damn pair of bastards.
I managed to pick up a vase with my shaky hands and throw it at him.
I hoped to hit him in the head, but the man bowed slightly and avoided the attack.
Crash! The sound of the vase breaking against the wall rang throughout the quiet room.
He approached me slowly with his eyes fixed on me. I followed him with my blinking eyes, barely managing to keep my head up.

Ah, really? Is no one coming?
Am I going to die like this?
My vision had become blurry. My limp right leg was trembling with so much pain that I wanted to rip it off with my fingers.
Finally, he stopped right in front of me and raised his sword high.
“…I’m sorry. I, Marvis Hasan, will always remember you. Please close your eyes.”
The knight said goodbye.
I could only watch as the sword descended towards my heart. There was a slimy sound of raw meat being cut.
Even though the pain level was only 10%, there was a terrible feeling of sharp thorns piercing through my lungs.
Still, my consciousness held on and I remained awake.
At the precipice of death, I wished that I would die quicker. The man’s face was stained with embarrassment when he saw how I had not yet died, even though my heart had been stabbed.
Not yet… there was still some HP left. Swallowing the blood in my mouth, I squeezed out my last words.
“If only I… could truly die.”
Hearing this, I prayed earnestly that he would feel a little bad.
But in the end, the last word could not leave my mouth and was scattered in the wind.
If only I could truly die.
And what I wanted to say next.
‘How nice that would be.’
The sword stuck in my body was removed, and blood dripped down my empty chest. My vision gradually darkened, and I could faintly see a white screen.
[Your HP has reached 0.]
[GAME OVER!]
And finally, complete darkness.
