Chapter 16 - I’m a Little Hungry

Ji Naitang came back to his senses. He seemed to have said something that he shouldn’t have said. He stood up and casually said, “Don’t you remember that I was injured a few days ago?”
“You’re injured, but you didn’t go to the hospital and came to this psychology clinic?” Cen Muqi slightly frowned. “Do you have a psychological shadow?”
After all, Ji Naitang was beaten up by a dozen strong men that day and if he hadn’t run into him that day, no one would know what would have happen next. So, it would be normal if he had a psychological shadow.
Ji Naitang shook his head. “No. I came here to see a friend. What about you? Why is CEO Cen here?”
“I’m here to look for Yan Yebai. He’s supposed to be the top psychologist in the city. My mom will be coming back from abroad in a few days. So, I……” Cen Muqi saw that Ji Naitang was puzzled, so he said bluntly, “My mom has depression. It’s been controlled pretty well over the years, but just in case.”
Ji Naitang nodded. Cen Muqi then asked, “Were you leaning on the wall because you weren’t feeling well?”
“My stomach hurts a little, but it’s much better now.”
“You want to go to the hospital?”
“I’m not going to the hospital!” Every time that “hospital” was mentioned, Ji Naitang’s attitude was very vehement. He might have noticed it himself and explained, “I’m already okay.”
“Then sit there and wait for me for a while. We’ll leave together.” Ji Naitang naturally wouldn’t object to being together with Cen Muqi, even if his mood was bad today. Cen Muqi went to Yan Yebai’s office.
Ji Naitang sat down in the reception area. He looked down at his hands. Hospital…… If it was possible, he never wanted to go to the hospital again.
He took a deep breath and took out his phone from his pocket. He unlocked it and discovered that he had several missed calls. They were all from his mom.
Ji Naitang had muted his phone in order not to disturb the treatment process, so it was normal for him not to hear the calls. He turned his ringer back on, but he didn’t make any calls. He put his phone away without any expression. But before he could put it back in his pocket, his phone rang.
He looked down. It was his mom. He hung up, but she called back very persistently.
“Hello?” He eventually answered the phone.
A familiar voice sounded on the other end. “TangTang, your grandfather has terminal liver cancer. The doctor said that he doesn’t have much time left.”
“Oh.”
“He really wants to see you. Can you come see him based on the fact that his time is running out?”
Ji Naitang exhaled. His tone was flat. “I’ve been really busy lately. I don’t have time.”
“Then in a few days……”
“Why don’t you tell him that I wish him a smooth journey?”
“You…… He’s your grandfather. Your biological grandfather!”
Ji Naitang sneered. “Mom, you know my temper. If I go, I won’t say anything good and he’ll probably leave faster.”
Ji Naitang’s mother was silent, before she choked out, “I know that you hate him. You not only hate him, but you hate me too. TangTang, I’m sorry. But what could I have done?”
Ji Naitang saw Cen Muqi coming out from the corner of his eyes. He directly said, “I don’t have so much free time to hate you. As for that old man, he’s already dying. So why does he want me to go see him? Just tell him to leave smoothly.”
“But he’s been talking about you recently……”
“He wants to see me because he wants to look miserable on his deathbed so that I will forgive him. Is he afraid that he will see my brother after he dies? Tell the old man not to worry. He won’t see my brother. My brother is in heaven and people like him deserves to go to hell.”
Ji Naitang didn’t care about what his mother was going to say next. He directly hung up and stood up to look at Cen Muqi. Cen Muqi saw that he seemed to look better, so he asked, “It really doesn’t hurt anymore?”
Ji Naitang smiled. “It doesn’t hurt, but I’m a little hungry.”
Cen Muqi took him out and said, “Then let’s get you fed before you go to work.”
