After Ji Naitang left Fengqi Entertainment Company, he went to the city hospital. He hated hospitals, but he had to go this time. Then he took a taxi to an orphanage in the west of the city. Seventeen years had passed and the orphanage had been renovated, so it wasn’t the same as before.

“Naitang gege* is here ~ ”

[Gege or ge = literally: “older brother,” can be used to denote familiarity or intimacy]

As soon as he stepped onto the playground, the children who were playing ran towards him. They all looked very happy. There was finally a small smile on Ji Naitang’s face.

He shook the bag in his hands and said seriously, “Only those who obediently line up will get a gift ~ ”

The children quickly lined up. One of the little girls said, “Naitang gege, a handsome uncle came earlier. He also gave us a lot of snacks.”

Ji Naitang rubbed her hair and smiled. “That’s good. There are more and more people who love and dote on you. That means you guys are very powerful.”

“Naitang gege is very powerful too!”

Although the children didn’t know what “really powerful” meant, they understood that it was a compliment. Ji Naitang half crouched as he looked at their carefree smiles. He was in a very good mood.

He didn’t have a childhood. He only had a dark and painful past, so he hoped that they could have a happy childhood, even if it was hard.

Ji Naitang looked around after handing out the gifts. The playground equipment seemed to be a little old. It was time to buy another set.

What Ji Naitang didn’t know was that this topic was currently being discussed in the dean’s office.

“Then I’ll thank CEO Cen on behalf of the children.”

The dean was a woman in her sixties. She was a little overweight and always had a smile on her face. She looked very amiable. Cen Muqi stood up and said, “You don’t have to be so polite. You can just call me Muqi.”

The dean stood up and walked down a corridor. “You’re so big now in just the blink of an eye. When you first came here, you were a little milk doll. Time really flies.”

Cen Muqi’s mother was the Feng family’s illegitimate daughter. She grew up in this orphanage. The current dean wasn’t the dean back then, but she had been very caring to his mother. A few years later, the Feng family recognized Feng Yan. So from time to time over the years, Cen Corporation would donate some equipment and educational materials, as well as fund the cost of renovations.

These things were done by his father’s assistant. That assistant retired this year, so Cen Muqi personally took it over. This was the first time that he came here.

He used to be too young before. Then his father got into the accident and his mother became depressed. So there had been no chance for him to come see this place where his mother had grown up.

Cen Muqi listened to the dean talk about the past, but his eyes were on the small playground downstairs. The dean saw him stop and looked at where he was looking. She smiled and said, “The children can smile so happily thanks to your help. Look at the man playing a guitar who’s surrounded by the children. He’s not from our orphanage either, but he often comes here over the years, so the children are very fond of him.”

“Does he come here often?”

“Yes. His family adopted a seven-year-old boy here seventeen years ago. Unfortunately, the child was tragically killed twelve years ago. And he probably started coming here four years ago.”

Four years ago, Ji Naitang was eighteen years old and had moved out of the Ji house.

Cen Muqi stood on the corridor on the second floor and looked down. Ji Naitang played the guitar while singing “The Doll and Bear Dance” and dancing and bouncing along with the children.

The afternoon sunlight was bright and shone on him. Accompanied with the pure smile on his face, one couldn’t look away from him and couldn’t help but indulge in it.
