Chapter 52 - A Loving Breakfast
3 min read759 words
Ji Naitang was immersed in his nightmare. Although he was very clear that it was a dream because he had already experienced these things before, he couldn’t wake up from it.
It might be because he saw Qiu Yue and Qiu Liwen, so he couldn’t help but think of the past; the past that he was deliberately trying to forget.
His life was divided into three stages: before the age of ten, from age ten to eighteen, and after the age of eighteen. The first two stages were very painful. The third stage was slightly better because he had moved out of the Ji house, even though his painful mental state did not lessen.
When Ji Naitang woke up the next morning, he found out that he had overslept. Work started at 8:30, but it was now 9:00. The bed was empty. Cen Muqi probably went to the company.
After he got up and washed up, he found a cup of milk on the table in the living room, with a note underneath it.
Drink the milk first. Breakfast is in the kitchen. If it’s cold, warm it up in the microwave. Rest at home today. Aunt Su won’t be coming over, so order takeout for lunch.
Aunt Su wasn’t coming today? Then who made breakfast? Ji Naitang drank milk while he looked around the kitchen. Breakfast was omelet rice with a ham omelet and a bowl of lean meat congee. It was very hearty and everything looked beautiful, exactly like those pictures online.
Ji Naitang had a bad feeling. He held back and heated everything up, just as he finished his milk. He thought about it and pulled out his phone to take a picture of the food. Then he scooped up a spoonful of omelet rice. Then he sighed. Sure enough, Cen Muqi made this breakfast.
Cen Muqi’s cooking skills were really bad, but he was very focused on the food’s appearance so everything looked beautiful. Unsuspecting people would certainly think that the food was made by some chef. But once they tasted it, they would discover that such beautiful food actually tasted really bad!
The omelet rice was sour, the ham omelet was salty to death, and the lean meat congee had no other taste other than burned. Ji Naitang had to wonder if Cen Muqi used a whole pack of salt when he made the ham omelet. That was why there was so salt in the congee!
But Cen Muqi had made it personally. Ji Naitang had the mentality that he had to eat it even if it was poisonous. After he bravely ate everything, he felt that his stomach problem would become more serious in the long run.
He posted the picture in his circle of friends on WeChat, with the tagline: Thanks to a certain someone for the loving breakfast he made for me this morning. I ate it all. [Love] [Love] [Love]
A few minutes later, he received a call from Yao Yuanjing. “Ji TangTang, what did your post mean? Are you dating Cen Muqi’s housekeeper?”
“Yao Chunhua, don’t talk if your IQ is low.”
Yao Yuanjing instantly gnashed his teeth in anger when he heard the name “Yao Chunhua.” But they were on the phone, so he couldn’t beat him up even if he wanted to. He was suddenly a little sad. “Naitang’er, I haven’t seen you for several days. I had no feeling when I used to see you all the time. Now that we’re separated, I suddenly miss you. Do you miss me?”
Ji Naitang said heartlessly, “Why would I think about your mom if there’s nothing wrong? Does your mom know what an unfilial child you are?”*
[The way Yao Yuanjing said “Miss me” sounds like “Miss my mom.”]
Yao Yuanjing was so angry that he wanted to throw his phone away. “I didn’t ask you if you miss my mom. I asked you if you miss me!”
“Oh. No.”
“Ji Naitang, you really have no conscience!” Yao Yuanjing was devastated. He felt that having a heartless childhood friend was a waste of his feelings. He wanted to go online and post again.
“How’s the company been lately?”
“Very good. Just focus on dating and eating your loving breakfast. You’re so shameless when you’re showing off your love. By the way, are you guys together now?”
Ji Naitang suddenly remembered that he wanted to ask someone, so he asked, “Yaojing, how do you get along with those mistresses of yours before? Do you let them ask for things?”
