Chapter 56 - I’m Here to Deliver the Report

Ji Naitang didn’t have the number of the doctor who gave him the examination, so he went to the hospital instead. The doctor was Chen Yan. The report was already out. Chen Yan had read it because Cen Muqi called him yesterday to ask about it. The ailment wasn’t serious, so he didn’t prescribe any medicine. Ji Naitang just needed to pay attention to his diet.

Ji Naitang suddenly thought that if Cen Muqi frequently cooked for him, he might have to come back to get a gastroscopy.

“Qi and I were classmates in primary, junior, and high school. We agreed to study medicine together, but there were some changes in his family. So, he didn’t study medicine and chose business management instead.”

Ji Naitang knew that the changes Chen Yan referred to were Cen Muqi’s father dying in a car accident and his mother trying to commit suicide, but became depressed. So, Cen Muqi’s original goal was to be a doctor?

“CEO Cen must have been very popular when he was a student, right?”

“Of course. The worst one was Old Leng. That’s the Leng Qifei you saw last time. He grew up with Qi and they have a very good relationship. But no matter where they go, his limelight is always firmly covered by Qi. That’s why he found a girlfriend finally in university.”

Ji Naitang quietly inquired, “What about CEO Cen? He must have had a lot of relationships, right? After all, so many people like him.”

Chen Yan hated iron for not being steel as he said, “How can that be? We always thought he was an idiot. Later we found that that he has high requirements. Ordinary people can’t even enter his eyes. When we were about to graduate university, he had one relationship, but they broke up soon after.”

“Why did they break up?”

“After he graduated, he had to come back to take over the family business. The other person didn’t want to come back to the country and wanted to stay abroad, so they broke up. Long-distance relationships are hard, not to mention a relationship in two different countries.”

Ji Naitang knew that there used to be someone by Cen Muqi’s side, but he didn’t know the details. Now that he heard Chen Yan’s words, he didn’t know whether he should be jealous of that person or thank the person for refusing to come back to the country.

But he thought more about it and felt that Cen Muqi must have been very sad when that person refused to come back with him. Ji Naitang felt sad and started to hope that the person came back with Cen Muqi.

Even he didn’t understand his contradictory mood.

“Is that person a foreigner?”

“No. That person is from our city. So, they had affinity, but it wasn’t deep. They couldn’t make it last a lifetime.”

Chen Yan then felt that it wasn’t very good that he said these things. “These things happened five or six years ago. Qi probably forgot them. Anyway, the person he likes now is you.”

“You misunderstood. Actually, CEO Cen and I aren’t like what you think. I just……” Ji Naitang didn’t know how to explain. He was actually very happy that others misunderstood that he and Cen Muqi were a couple. But Chen Yan was close to Cen Muqi. It would be very embarrassing if Chen Yan said something to Cen Muqi due to his misunderstanding.

Chen Yan smiled and said, “What misunderstanding? I never saw Qi care so much about anyone else besides his mom. Although you two are men and it’s not convenient to publicize it, you don’t have to hide it from me too.”

Ji Naitang froze. It seemed that there was always someone telling him that he and Cen Muqi were in love. He heard it so much that he was starting to believe it himself.

However, when Cen Muqi agreed to let him stay, he didn’t say that they were going to date. Moreover, he had never mentioned anything about it during their daily interactions either.

He went to the CEO’s office and knocked on the door. He went inside when he heard “Come in.” Cen Muqi was looking down at some documents.

“CEO Cen.”

Cen Muqi looked up. He asked, puzzled, “Why are you here? Didn’t I tell you to rest at home today?”

Ji Naitang walked over to the desk and placed the medical report on the desk. The he said seriously, “I’m here to deliver the gastroscopic report. CEO Cen, you promised that if I give you this report, you’ll let me see your WeChat nickname for me.”
