Chapter 1

"Alright, it's getting dark, let's call it a day."

With that, my father, Edward, informed me that we were done with the work. At the same time, he stopped the magic he had been using to enhance his body for plowing the field.

"Got it, Dad. Let's head back."

"Sure thing."

He ruffled my hair with his muscular, rough hand. It felt more like he was messing it up rather than petting me. While enduring this, I placed the hoe I had been using on my shoulder and deactivated my body enhancement magic.

We were already covered in sweat and mud from the continuous work since morning.

"Hey, Dad, can I take a bath today?"

"Of course, you can!"

Although I don't need to ask anymore, I still do for the sake of formality.

In the beginning, I was told not to waste magic even for making a small amount of hot water, and to use it for farm work instead. Even when I said I had enough magic, it wasn't accepted, and I couldn't take a bath.

"At that time, when you made the bathtub and filled it with water using magic with those empty eyes, I thought my son had gone crazy. But after you forced me into the bath, I couldn't live without it anymore."

Father laughs heartily and tells this story almost every time.

At first, the father in this world had a very strong say, so I had no choice but to endure and obediently follow his orders.

One day, I don't remember much about it, but it seemed I had reached my limit. I made a bathtub and filled it with water using earth magic, and forced my father into it, saying, "Just try it."

Since we only used a small amount of water to wipe our bodies before, the pleasure of soaking in a tub full of hot water and washing off the dirt was too much for my father to resist.

I knew I might get a beating, but the result was worth it.

By the time we finished talking, we had arrived home. Our house, located in a border area, is not small. I even have my own small room.

I thought that poor farmers' houses would be shabby, but according to my father, when the village was first established, dozens of magicians hired by the nobles visited and quickly built quite impressive houses using magic.

I've been mentioning it, but magic exists in this world.

Magic is a common part of life, and everyone uses it conveniently for daily tasks.

People use water magic to create drinking water, fire magic to start a fire, and magic to enhance their bodies, among other things.

Anyone can understand and use the magic within their bodies, and simple tasks like producing water or fire don't require incantations.

Since anyone can use it easily and mainly for daily life, it's called "living magic."

According to the village priest, to use powerful magic like attack magic or the kind used to build the village's structures, one must study extensively at the magic school in the capital.

The priest also says that if one loves and is loved by the gods, one can use healing magic. Priests who can use healing magic are sent to remote villages like this one in their youth to accumulate virtue.

That's why he is kind to children like me and often tells us stories.

By the way, I have no memory of meeting a god when I was reincarnated, nor have I heard their voice or received any cheat-like skills or magic.

The reason I have a surplus of magic is that I started training from a very young age, as my memories returned immediately after birth.

I'm quite confident in non-incantation magic, but compared to the rest of the village, it's not much. I certainly can't build a house in an instant.

While I was lost in thought, my father lightly tapped my head.

"Daydreaming again? Did you come up with some weird idea?"

"No, Dad, I was just thinking."

"Then get inside quickly, dinner and a bath are waiting."

I replied, "Okay," and followed my father into the house. As usual, my mother was preparing dinner, and the smell made my stomach growl.

"Welcome back, Ed, Luca."

"Welcome back, big brother, daddy."

My young, still-tongue-tied sister ran up to me, trying to hug me. I wanted to stop her because I was dirty from field work and would get her dirty too, but I also didn't want to make her sad. In the end, I hugged her back.

"Welcome back, Alice, Mom."

"Hey, why did my little angel call you first and even hug you despite being so dirty?"

The latter part was directed at me. You can tell that my father is extremely indulgent with my two-year-old sister, to the point of being ridiculous. He even glares at me just because he wasn't called first.

This time, it was even worse because she hugged me.

When my father acts so immature, my mother scolds him.

"You'll be disliked if you glare at Luca like that."

"Wh-what? I'm disliked?"

My father looks devastated, as if the end of the world has come, just because my mother made a joke involving my sister. It's honestly embarrassing.

I handed my sister over to my mother and left my father to his misery as I headed to the bath.

◇◇◇◇

"Alright," I muttered, activating my magic and recalling the past.

When I first regained my memories from my previous life as a baby, my mother used water magic to wet a cloth and wipe my face, and wind magic to cool me down when it was hot. That's when I realized magic existed and that I had been reincarnated into a different world.

I have a vague understanding that something unfortunate happened due to a very selfish person in my previous life, leading to my arrival here.

Personal details are hazy, but I can clearly recall the knowledge and common sense that my previous self had, as if watching a video.

As I delved deeper into my memories, I began to integrate the magic I had activated within me with the external magic, making them rotate as one.

When my mother used magic while holding me as a baby, I could clearly feel the movement of the magic inside my body. I thought that this instinctive ability to move magic must have developed from being exposed to it as a baby.

This habit of daydreaming started when I was a baby. After all, babies have nothing to do but drink, excrete, and sleep.

What does a bored baby do when they see magic? Of course, they try to use it.

All my mother did was gather magic in her palm and say, "Water."

I did the same, gathering magic in my palm and muttering, "Water." Since I could only say "uiu o" as a baby, the magic still worked.

The magic only wet my palm, so my mother probably thought I had touched something dirty.

The first time I used magic, I felt something being pulled out of my body. I wasn't tired, but it was a strange feeling, as if something important had been taken away.

I realized that using magic made something leave my body, and it would return after some time.

It was obvious that this "something" was magic, but it took a while for my understanding to catch up with my intuition.

With that, I stopped thinking and used magic.

I knew that the amount of water in living magic is determined by the amount of magic, and the temperature by the image in my mind. So, when I activated it, the tub filled with water to the brim, just as I imagined.

I filled it to the brim because I would only wash my hands and face before dinner, and I wanted to store extra water for the whole family to use.

Recently, everyone has been using more water because they know I have plenty of magic, which makes me happy.

Although I prefer to take a bath after dinner, my father insists on eating first.

I scooped water from the wooden tub, washed my hands and face, and even rinsed my mouth. Then, I called my sister and helped her wash up in the same way. After that, my father and mother washed up, and we all had dinner together.

The rest of the evening was just taking a bath and going to bed.

This is a typical day for me, a ten-year-old living in a remote farming village after being reincarnated into a different world, without any cheats or cliché plot twists.

This is my first novel submission.

I hope you enjoy it despite its many flaws.
