"Today’s bath was a failure."
Yesterday, I managed to control the bone man to a certain extent during practice, so I tried to perform the story of the old man who makes flowers bloom without a battle scene using the bone man. However, it ended up scaring and making my younger sister cry.
It seems that the combination of sticks resembling a human was not good, and it was even worse because it moved realistically.
Especially, the dog was scary.
Since showing scary things is not the way to go, I stopped the puppet show and switched to the children’s song of that story, and we sang it together, which somehow made her stop crying and cheer up.
I think I was a bit too proud of my improved technical skills, showing off and thinking, "Isn’t this amazing?"
I was focused on my own satisfaction as the creator rather than entertaining the audience, which is the most important thing.
I need to continue practicing to make natural movements, but the purpose is to incorporate them into entertainment. If the technology is not accepted, I need to lower it to make it more acceptable.
I want to show something that is both interesting and amazing, not just amazing.
I will take this failure as a lesson and strive to improve.
After all, a dog made of bones is just weird. The sound of "bone man" is also scary.
"Hmm, let’s just call it a 'bone' as it’s part of the 3D model name."
──The word "3D model" reminded me of one of the breakthroughs in games, the polygon fighting game. I’ve never played it, but I remember seeing it in a video about the history of games.
I thought of displaying only one arm as a bone.
"Maybe if I attach several thin rectangular plates based on this, I can achieve something like the early polygon models?"
The fingers are complex, so I reduced the joints and simplified them, and used water magic to attach plates around the arm.
The result was something that vaguely resembled an arm, more like the earliest robot model kits rather than a polygon model.
I tried moving it a bit, but as expected, it didn’t work well. The parts made of plates would shift and lag with each movement.
Even with the stick figure, I was controlling each part individually to make it look human, but in reality, everything was separate.
When the stick figure moves forward, I move each part forward, making it look like it’s walking. For example, if I forget to control the head, it will be left behind while the rest moves forward.
It’s like a marionette. Each part is not connected, and I control each part individually as if they were hanging by strings.
I think the reason my brain felt like it was burning during the puppet show was because of the massive amount of control I was doing.
I think the way I control things is a bit crazy, but it’s the only way I could do it. My brain is quite capable, and the more I do it, the better I get, so I’m pushing through with brute force.
If I could control the entire figure as a single unit, it would be much easier. I could reduce the control of the stick figure and combine squares to create a character like a pixel art figure that can move.
Thinking about this, I created a famous red-hatted plumber using water magic blocks.
It looks exactly like it should, but when I move it, the large number of blocks causes it to shift and create gaps, just like the polygon model.
I thought about making the parts integrate after creating and combining them, but I couldn’t do it before.
"Haa!! I’ll use all my magic to integrate them! – Just kidding, if it were that easy..."
The magic of each part, which was separate, had integrated into a single magic.
"Huh? No way? It worked! Why?"
I said "all my magic," but I didn’t use much magic at all; I just thought about it, and this time it went smoothly.
Before, no matter what I did, something blocked it, and it didn’t work at all.
I couldn’t believe it, so I created a stick figure and tried to integrate it, and it worked.
When I made the stick figure walk, I could tell that the control was much easier. Controlling each part to make it look like it’s walking was much simpler and cleaner with just the image of walking.
What caused this to work?
I’ve been doing magic excitation and circulation since I was a baby, and I think I’ve gradually increased my magic power and quality.
Still, I felt like I was hitting an impenetrable wall, and I was certain that quantity and quality alone wouldn’t do it.
Without any evidence, I thought about it based on my memories from my previous life:
One, there are levels, and if you level up, you can do it.
One, there is proficiency in magic, and if you keep using it, you can do it.
One, a skill has emerged, and you can do it.
If they exist, maybe I can do it because my skills or proficiency have increased, or maybe my level has gone up from using magic continuously.
"Ah, damn. This doesn’t help me understand anything."
By the way, I hardly know anything about this world outside the village.
It’s not that I didn’t have a way to know, but I had to help the village as soon as I was past the toddler stage.
Children who can’t use magic well are basically assigned to carry crops. There, I gradually learned self-enhancement.
It was a new job, and at first, I was told to move my body and work, and when I was exhausted, to use magic to move. I would quickly reach my limit, so I would force myself to eat and sleep.
On rest days, I played with Renael and others.
Otherwise, it was a repeat of this, and the years from four to nine passed. They say this is the best way to learn self-enhancement, but I think it’s too much to push a single-digit child, even with adults watching.
By the time I turned ten, I suddenly managed to create a bath, and that’s how I got to where I am now.
Until then, I was barely managing to take care of myself. I know my parents love me, but they were always tense, doing something like being chased, for reasons I don’t know.
Recently, things have really become peaceful. I think it’s thanks to the bath and my younger sister.
For knowledge, I think the priest might know a lot, so I’ll ask him directly next time, not just listen to his sermons. I avoided it before because I was afraid of saying something strange and revealing my secrets, but I want to properly understand the basics of magic.
This time, my magic mysteriously evolved? I’ll use what I can.
I have a new idea, so I’ll create it and make Alice happy this time.
