The next morning, just after Hu Yang finished washing up, he heard a knock at the door.

Opening the door, he saw the female teacher who had brought him to the dormitory yesterday. Her name was Rika, and she looked to be around eighteen years old, full of youthful energy.

Hu Yang invited her into the living room. Rika glanced at the sleeping Gueyuebird and asked, "Is that little guy your Pokémon?"

Hu Yang nodded with a smile, "Yes, it is."

Rika leaned in for a closer look, her curiosity piqued. "I've never seen a Pokémon like this before, but since you have a Pokémon, it should be simple."

Rika hadn't come over to chat. She placed a few books on the table and explained her purpose:

"Many of our school's teachers were once traveling trainers, and they lack teaching experience before joining us. So, before they start teaching, we give them an introduction to the important points they should pay attention to."

Trainers don't travel forever. After retiring, professional trainers often take up different careers based on their interests.

Hu Yang was aware of this.

Rika pushed the books toward him, and Hu Yang saw that one of them was titled "How to Become a Popular and Good Teacher."

Rika said, "These books are for you. Next, I'll introduce you to the main courses at our school."

"Thank you for your trouble," Hu Yang said gratefully.

Rika, with a smile, began her introduction: "At our school, besides basic literacy and math courses, there are four main courses related to Pokémon."

"The first is the Pokémon Type Course, which explains the interactions between different Pokémon types."

"The second is the Pokémon Move Course, which introduces various moves that Pokémon can learn and their effects. This course includes move demonstrations, where teachers use their own Pokémon to show different moves to the students, which can be very effective."

Hu Yang understood. She meant that he could have Gueyuebird demonstrate its moves in front of the students.

Hu Yang couldn't help but recall the scene of Gueyuebird using Root Fluctuation.

...Using it in front of the students, he couldn't even imagine what would happen, and the commotion it would cause.

However, the move modification template on his golden finger was still intact, so he decided to try modifying those four moves later.

"The third is the Pokémon Ecology Course," Rika continued. "In this course, we introduce the living habits of Pokémon and their main habitats in the wild."

"The fourth is the Pokémon Ability Course, which focuses on helping students understand the abilities of Pokémon and the effects of different abilities."

"Which course will I be mainly responsible for?" Hu Yang asked, thinking that he was suitable for any of the three courses except the ecology course.

However, Rika didn't follow the usual logic. She continued, "Our school currently lacks a teacher for the ecology course."

Hu Yang was speechless.

"So, after a discussion by the school committee, we've decided to have you teach the second-year ecology course." Rika asked, "Can you do it?"

Hu Yang hesitated, "I might not know much about Pokémon ecology."

In the games, there was no ecology to speak of, and the ecology in the anime was more child-friendly.

"That's not a problem. The other ecology teachers don't know everything either," Rika said, her eyes filled with anticipation.

"After all, there are still many unknown things in the Pokémon world. So, we have prepared teaching materials, and you can follow them for your classes."

Hearing this, Hu Yang relaxed. "That's good."

After finishing her instructions, Rika got up to leave. Hu Yang saw her to the door, and as she turned to leave, she said:

"There's still one day before the students start school. During this time, you can familiarize yourself with the school environment."

Hu Yang nodded. Rika walked a few steps and then turned back:

"By the way, the school is connected to the Orange Flower Forest at the back. There are many wild Pokémon there, and the ones in the outer areas are very friendly to humans. Just don't go too deep."

Hu Yang, who had just managed to get out of the Orange Flower Forest, didn't want to return to that place that brought him so much pain, but he appreciated Rika's kindness. "Thank you, I understand."

Rika left.

Hu Yang then had a chance to check the time.

8:37 AM

Gueyuebird was still sleeping. Hu Yang went to check on it and then returned to the living room to read the books Rika had brought. He prepared his lessons, combining the content of the books with his past experiences from school.

8:50 AM

Gueyuebird opened its eyes and flew out of the open window.

By this time, Hu Yang was fully engrossed in the textbook compiled by the Hoenn League.

There were many Pokémon ecology facts he didn't know, such as the fact that a Caterpie's growth cycle is only about a month long.

Its easy capture and rapid growth make it one of the Pokémon recommended by the League for new trainers as a suitable companion.

Another example is that Fearow leaves its nest on dark stormy nights to soar through the rain.

According to scholars, this might be a way for Fearow to train itself.

These little-known secrets of Pokémon fascinated Hu Yang until a lively Magikarp was thrown in front of him.

"Ga!" Gueyuebird pressed the Magikarp down with its beak to stop it from struggling.

Hu Yang was speechless.

He looked at the unfortunate Magikarp and reluctantly rescued it from Gueyuebird's clutches.

"It's full of bones, you can't eat it," Hu Yang poked the Magikarp.

He remembered that according to the setting, Magikarp only had scales and bones and was not edible.

In the original anime, when Team Rocket and Ash's group were drifting at sea, they once thought about eating a Magikarp out of hunger. However, Meowth couldn't bite through it, and James angrily kicked the Magikarp back into the sea, where it evolved into a Gyarados and took revenge on them.

"Ga?" Gueyuebird didn't understand.

"Forget it," Hu Yang sighed, picking up Gueyuebird and placing it on his shoulder. He put the Magikarp in a plastic bucket half-filled with water and took it outside to release it.

He remembered Rika's words about demonstrating Pokémon moves and used the move modifier on Gueyuebird.

But as soon as he opened the list of available moves, a message appeared in his mind: [Move locked, cannot be modified].

Hmm? Can't modify?

Hu Yang was taken aback.

Can other Pokémon be modified?

He looked at the Magikarp in the bucket.

[Species: Magikarp♂]

Hu Yang was speechless.

The move modification option for Magikarp was available.

So why not for Gueyuebird?
