Warning: This novel has its fair amount of curse words so prepare you heart. Be aware that cursing is not cool and it should not be used on other people to hurt their feelings. Also backbiting is bad. I am not sure if I am doing this right…
"Ahh~~Ahk~ you.. you, what are you doing!"
Hearing the ear ringing scream, I stopped cleaning the corridor window and turned my head to find the class vice president Eun-Hye yelling. Her face was bright red with fury and she was glaring at someone.
Also, I spotted few of the female classmates whom Eun-Hye hangs out with, equally glaring… at someone. Oh, I can already guess who they are glaring at. Its Pork Belly*.
*a nickname*
"damn. Shove off you piece of shit!"
Pork Belly jumped up in front of Eun-Hye as he cursed unlike any elementary students of his age. Just like his nickname, Pork Belly was very fat that he looked as if he can burst out of his skin. The only part that didn't look round was his sharply raised eyes that was glaring back at Eun-Hye.
Shocked by Pork Belly's vigor and insults, Eun-Hye's eyes let out fat drops of tears. Eun-Hye was shivering and was feeling wronged.
"Hey! Pork Belly! Who do you think you are to make Eun-Hye cry!! Also, you were at fault not Eun-Hye so, why did you throw that rag at her!"
Ji-Sun who was one of Eun-Hye's friends stepped in front of Pork Belly. Ji-Sun's height was impressive against short and round Pork Belly but neither the height difference nor Ji-Sun's loud shout successfully scared Pork Belly.
"KKAAAK~~~ TTEW! (sound of Pork Belly gathering and spitting his mucous)"
"Ah~!! Wha!"
With emphasized noise, the thick spit landed on Ji-Sun's chest. It was very impressive how Pork Belly was able to muster up something better than cursing at his age. The might of the spit was so great that it petrified Ji-Sun and instantly made her cry.
Pork Belly stood there all sharp-eyed, Chubby-legged, and round-bellied. I could not help but grimace at how worthy Pork Belly was to be titled gangster. Thin and sharp slit of Pork Belly's death glares were still on the girls.
It was after school and our teacher left us, instructing us to clean our classroom, so he was not available to handle the situation. There was, however, one other person who can stop this from getting any worse.
I urgently looked around the classroom but could not find the person I was looking for…
Students from other classrooms started to gather around the area of commotion. I could not see Pork Belly or the girls anymore, but I could easily guess from the sound that Pork Belly was continuously spitting at the girls. One by one, girls who were crying from the shock of Pork Belly's spit multiplied.
Urk, I really don't want to associate myself with that bastard… I threw the rag that I was holding onto a table and walked toward the crowds of kids.
"I'm going to shove maggots down your throat, you shit face! You wait…I'm going to.."
"Hey, Pork Belly. You better stop."
I pushed crying Ji-Sun aside and stepped in front of Pork Belly with a wry face. Pork Belly who was about to conjure up more swear words turned his eyes on me.
Usually I do not interact with Pork Belly, but because of my position as a class representative I sometimes had to talk to him. Pork Belly did not participate in any of the conversation that I initiated, until now.
"Son of bitch, you shut your trap."
The atmosphere was heating up with all the bodies present. Pork Belly was glaring at me with his fist clenched. His face was getting red with agitation.
Just then, I remembered what teacher told us, the class representatives, at the beginning of the school year.
The teacher told us not to bully Pork Belly and treat him with care, but in this case, I realized, it was Pork Belly who was pushing us away not the other way around!
Hearing the curses directed at me, I could no longer heed to the teacher's request. I was about to counter Pork Belly with words of my own when I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Don't get angry Jung-Ah*."
*'Ah' in Jung's name is not part of the actual name. It is a word added to the single letter name (in this case, Jung) for gentler sound*
When I turned my head, my eyes found the slightly tall and handsome class president. This was the person whom I was looking for earlier, Lee Yun-Su.
My face instantly relaxed as I met his light brown eyes.
"Eun-Hye and Ji-Sun, would you guys like to go home first? I will let our teacher know. For the rest of you, teachers are going to come back any time for cleaning inspection, let's try to finish cleaning by then."
Yun-Su purposely placed his body in front of Pork Belly to block everyone's view and spoke gently to the classroom full of students. One by one, students began to disperse. With bustling sounds, classroom cleaning resumed its progress.
"Let us go too."
Yun-Sun pulled my arm, so I let him drag me a few steps before stopping suddenly. I asked him skeptically.
"Are you just going to let him be?"
To my indignant question, Yun-Sun sighed softly and shook his head.
"He is pitiful.. cut him some slack."
"Tsk, what do you mean he is pitiful? He is anything but pitiful."
I grumbled as I turned my head to study Pork Belly. He was clenching his teeth tightly shut with his thin slit of eyes sharply glaring at Yun-Su's back. His whole body was shivering with what seems like rage.
I was feeling very anxious.. That bastard was rumored to be very determined and wicked when it came to what he wants, revenge included. With a worried look, I glanced at Yun-Su but he was already walking away to help other students putting back tables to its original position.
Whenever I step into a lawn full of grass, I feel overpowered. Maybe I am intimidated by its sameness, grass after grass.
Yun-Su's house had a lawn that extends from its gate to the front door. It wasn't like they were separated by miles but whenever I stepped into that lawn I felt like I was there to visit a loyalty. Unlike walking to the front door of my house, I felt my heart tremble. Is it an excitement that I am feeling?
It is laughable that I feel this way about a lawn. If Yun-Su's house was that of a loyalty, then would Yun-Su be a prince?
"What are you smiling at?"
Eh? Was I smiling? Opening the front door half way, Yun-Su was looking back at me with a puzzled look on his face. I grinned at him and shook my head, side to side.
"Nothing."
"What, you like watching me from the back?"
I went in through the front door of the house pass Yun-Su. Hearing his joke, I wore an exasperated expression as I lightly shoved his shoulder.
"Piss off."
Yun-Su grinned wickedly, the teeth and all. I admired Yun-Su's perfectly lined teeth before stepping into the big living room.
"Nobody's home?"
"Yeah, mom went to play golf."
Golf? Now I think about it, my mom also plays a sport… She attends lessons for table tennis in the public facility. I was beginning to feel timid standing in that big living room when Yun-Su pulled my arm and guided me to the second floor to his room.
Yun-Su walked in front of me as he climbed the stairs and that made him look even taller. I enviously eyed his broad back as I asked.
"Hey, did you hear?"
"Hear what?"
"I'm talking about Pork Belly. I heard his mother is a prostitute."
I was expecting a shocking reaction from Yun-Su but he merely walked into his room without a word.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, I followed Yun-Su through the door and set down on his bed while rubbing my head.
"They said its true! He doesn't have a dad, he lives in XX street. You know the area? He lives there with his mom and his mom.."
"Ha Jung*. Don't do that. You remember what our teacher requested of us."
*Ha Jung is MC's full name. Ha = last name, and Jung = first name*
My heart sank a little as I watched Yun-Su talking from above my head with his stiff expression.
"No, I .. I only wanted to tell you what others were saying.."
I spoke in a faint voice, babbling on as if I was making excuses for myself. That was when I felt a slight weight on my bowed head.
I turned my eyes slightly up at Yun-Su, He was habitually stroking my head.
"Forget it. Pork Belly is pitiable, so we should do well by him. Don't make comments like that in the future."
"yeah, okay."
Yun-Su's expression relaxed, so I felt relieved. I smiled while nodding my head and Yun-Su smiled back at me. Yun-Su walked to his computer.
"Come here, this is the game that I was talking to you about…"
Yun-Su said as he picked up a game pack from the side of a bookshelf. I sprinted up from his bed and quickly walked to his side.
Wow~, just released game pack. Yun-Su rocks! All the while shrieking excitedly in my head.
TN: I picked this one to translate because I remember myself laughing out loud while reading it. I hope this can somehow make up for Ho-Chi’s misfortunes so far… or not. I will be translating this about once a week.
