Background of "Kingdoms of Power," Overview of the Advantages and Disadvantages of Each Country in the Game of Knights and Slaughter
Rheidian
Dorok
Vikia
Kuzgit
Sarand Sultanate
Swadia (Rheidian)
Located in the central part of Isolida (Calradia). The main resources are abundant food. (This is a personal opinion; please correct me if you are an expert.)
National Proverb: "Blood and glory are with me!" (Customized, customized)
Swadia is the most "pure-blooded" country among all, the original inhabitants of the Calradia continent. Due to its legitimacy, every king has always wanted to restore the glory of the "Rheidian" period.
Of course, only the kings truly know. Swadian soldiers are more like medieval French troops, with powerful knights and strong various units.
A very strong country in the later stages, with top-tier strength. As long as the leader does not recklessly kill people in the early stages, it is not impossible to fight against three countries alone in the later stages.
Note: Early, middle, and late stages refer to game time. The later the game, the higher the number of troops and the elite level of the troops each lord can lead!
Swadia's characteristic troops (national representative troops): Swadian Knights
National Advantages: The best cavalry and the best various professional troops (referring to other secondary troops at the same level). Most castles are tall and well-defended, and the trade routes are the best.
National Disadvantages: Poor geographical location, poor ratio of high-level troops in the early stages, and poor trade routes during war. Swadia is a country that becomes extremely powerful in the middle and late stages. However, if it starts wars recklessly in the early stages, it can be problematic.
Dorok Kingdom
Located in the area with the most mountains on the continent (southwest?), rich in resources (high cost for traders, but high profit).
National Proverb: "True warriors are not born, but are made through strict training and iron discipline! —— Wei Ji Di"
Dorok is an original inhabitant of Calradia, always a federal state. It values freedom and was once a vassal state of Rheidian. Later, it became independent, and the concept of freedom is deeply rooted in its people.
Dorok's soldiers are somewhat like a mix of medieval Byzantine and Venetian troops. It is the country with the best discipline and the most complete system among all.
They once bravely defeated the strongest cavalry of the continent. —— Very powerful...
Dorok's characteristic troops: Dorok Militia (although crossbowmen are practical, the militia is the representative)
National Advantages: The best defensive troops, more troops for lords in the early stages, good geographical location, excellent militia trade routes, and the highest income.
National Disadvantages: High requirements for high-level troops in field battles, no cavalry, few professional troops to choose from in the later stages, and distant trade routes. Dorok is a strong country in the early and late stages, but it declines a bit in the middle stages. If it can turn the tide, unifying the world in the later stages is relatively easier compared to other countries.
Vikia Kingdom
Located in the snowy region of the continent (the protagonist's location), with iron and animal hides (fur, leather products, etc.) as the main goods.
National Proverb: "Bravery is the contempt of death and pain! —— Tacitus"
Vikia may be the first foreign nation, initially ruled by the Calrad Empire and later by ancient Rheidian. It became independent during the civil war of Rheidian.
These warriors from the snowy land have bravery and resilience deep in their souls.
Vikia is somewhat a mix of medieval Welsh (archers), Saxon (infantry), and Dacian (cavalry) (completely my personal opinion), with the best mixed formation among all countries.
It can effectively counter the troops of all other countries. However, it is said to lack discipline.
National Advantages: The best mixed formation, the best archers, excellent initial troops, and a high ratio of high-level troops for lords in the early stages.
National Disadvantages: High dependence on mixed formations, strong opposing countries, and a high number of lawless elements internally (more than the regular army).
Vikia is an excellent country in the early and middle stages. It can defeat most countries at this time. It also performs well in the later stages, but the front lines cannot be too long, or internal troubles will be fatal.
Kuzgit Khanate
Located in the grassland area of the continent (north?), with food and horses as the main resources (although there are spices, they are not as significant as in the Sultanate).
National Proverb: "If you want peace, prepare for war! —— Vegetius"
The Kuzgit Khanate is a foreign nation, initially small tribes living on the borders of ancient Rheidian.
Later, large tribes divided some areas during the internal strife of ancient Rheidian, becoming aggressive and constantly moving on the battlefield.
I personally believe the Kuzgit Khanate's troops are modeled after the Huns. Historically, the Huns did invade Europe. The troops have the highest mobility, but other aspects are average.
Kuzgit Khanate's characteristic troops: Kuzgit Lancers (not the strongest, but truly unique. They form very quickly)
National Advantages: The strongest country in the early stages, the fastest formation of high-level troops, high mobility, and strong aggression (no one can match them in looting money and food).
National Disadvantages: Average in sieges and defense, weaker in comprehensive strength compared to other high-level troops, and prone to decline in national power in the later stages.
The Kuzgit Khanate follows the Hun strategy, focusing on looting money, food, and territory.
Nord Kingdom
Located on the coast of the continent (southwest?), with salt and linen as the main goods.
National Proverb: "Return with your shield or on it —— a Nord (Spartan) mother preparing her son for battle" (Although I wanted to use "I came, I saw, I conquered," this sentence better represents the situation of Nord warriors)
The Nords occupied the north during the civil war of Rheidian, excelling as warriors, excellent merchants, and cultural learners. —— It is said that they once aimed to conquer the entire Calradia. —— Very powerful...
The prototype of Nord soldiers is similar to the North European and Anglo-Saxon axe warriors. They are incredibly brave and fearless of death.
Nord Kingdom's characteristic troops: Nord Royal Guards
National Advantages: The best infantry, the strongest siege troops, the best mixed battle troops, the shortest trade routes, and high regional income.
National Disadvantages: Slow formation of high-level troops, low survival rate of initial lord troops, no cavalry, and a purely offensive infantry country. Very fierce.
Sarand Sultanate
Located at the farthest edge of the continent (the southernmost?), with spices and horses as the main products (this is my current view).
National Proverb: "The walls should tremble at the noise of the cavalry and chariots."
The Sarand Sultanate was once a small tribe under the rule of the Calrad Empire (based on various sources). It became powerful and established a country during the Rheidian era. (Since there is no NPC to tell the hidden story, this is based on existing information.)
It has always had ambitions for the continent (possibly due to religious reasons). Due to the arrival of the Kuzgits and the bravery of the Doroks, it has never invaded the inland.
The Sarand Sultanate seems to be modeled after a medieval Muslim country, and its role in history is still unknown. (Since there is religion in the game, I see the Crusades...)
Sarand Sultanate's characteristic troops: Sarand Mamluks
National Advantages: Powerful field troops, a very high ratio of high-level troops for lords, low maintenance costs for troops, high taxes, high profits from peaceful trade routes, and generally united lords (regardless of how it is managed, this country is truly united).
National Disadvantages: Relatively weak in sieges, easily countered by other countries' troops (theoretically), and very unsafe trade routes during war due to long front lines.
Playing the Sultanate is currently the most stable country. As long as it develops well, it can conquer the world in the middle and late stages!
I found an article online about the analysis of the armies of each country in Knights and Slaughter. I am sharing it for book fans who have not played Knights and Slaughter to understand the background of the story.
