Early the next morning, Chu Dong woke up to the sound of running water. He sat up in a daze, his pajamas loosened, revealing a snow-white collarbone. Sunlight poured in from the balcony and fell on him, illuminating his black hair and bright skin.
Wu Yue came out of the bathroom after washing and saw that he was awake, he said uncomfortably, "Dong'er, awake?"
Chu Dong stared at him, slowly kneeling and sitting up, his broken leg made him stagger on the bed. Wu Yue hurriedly walked over, fearing that he would fall, so Chu Dong stretched out his hand and put his arms around his neck.
He called 'Dad' softly, prolonging his voice and acting spoiled, "Good morning."
Wu Yue was in a complicated mood, he held Chu Dong back with his big hands, "Well, get up and change clothes since you're awake."
"Dad..." Chu Dong put his arms around him, refusing to let go, and rubbed his shoulders, "I felt so comfortable last night."
Wu Yue froze immediately, only to hear the Chu Dong ask again, "Can dad help me more in the future?"
Wu Yue held Chu Dong's shoulders, stretching a little distance between as the two looked at each other. Chu Dong's eyes were full of expectation, without a trace of impurity. Wu Yue didn't dare to look at such clear eyes, and couldn't help but shift his gaze away, "This kind of stuff, in the future..."
Chu Dong looked at him with his head tilted slightly, and gradually becoming a little solemn, "Will you only let others do it?"
"No," Wu Yue denied subconsciously. Although comforting the sexual needs of the young Chu Dong should never fall on his father, but whenever he thought of a strange man taking advantage of Chu Dong, his blood would surge to his head. He'd have the urge to beat someone.
Chu Dong blinked, smiling softly and burying his head in his arms. Wu Yue really had no choice. This wasn't good, he was unwilling, but what else could he do? Wu Yue kept sighing in his heart, he helped the tangled Chu Dong into the bathroom and helped him wash his face and brush his teeth.
After getting Chu Dong dressed, the two ate breakfast and went straight to the hospital. Lao Li had already made an appointment for them to check in to. Chu Dong was examined in the department. Wu Yue ran up and down to pay the fees and find the right people. This time, he was tossed till afternoon.
Chu Dong was hungry and laid on Wu Yue's shoulders. Wu Yue took him to find a restaurant near the hospital to eat lunch, he scanned the results of Chu Dong's inspections and sent them to Lao Li. Lao Li called and said that he had received the documents and that the expert team had arrived in Beijing, they would meet them after their meeting tomorrow.
With nothing to do for quite a time, Wu Yue took Chu Dong to visit the Forbidden City. It was the off-season for tourism, and there were almost no people in the Forbidden City. The river was still bleak in the early spring. The two of them went in a circle around the palace walls and ran into a few cats. After dinner, they went back to the hotel to rest.
On the third day, Wu Yue and Chu Dong finally met with the foreign doctors and researchers. After a conversation, the other party brought out the new product for Chu Dong to try. The trial product was a model that's more suitable for an average adults. Chu Dong's skeleton was thin and small, so for the time being, they could only look at the performance and durability of the prosthesis. The new product was indeed different from most prostheses on the market. The shape was designed to completely mimic the shape of the human leg. It had the shadows of bones and muscles and the surface was covered in shiny metal. The joints were mechanically precise, and it looked very strong in design.
After Wu Yue learned about all aspects and performances of the prosthesis, he made the decision almost immediately. When he asked Chu Dong, Chu Dong also obediently said, "I'll listen to dad." After that, they discussed how to customize, when they could receive the product, and the matter of the regular maintenance and feedback. Wu Yue signed a contract and paid a large deposit.
Chu Dong followed Wu Yue in his wheelchair, trying to take a peek at the amount of money in the contract from behind, but Wu Yue who turned to look for him caught him and picked him up from the wheelchair.
Wu Yue teased him: "What are you looking at?"
Chu Dong was taken away by the man with a smile, lying on the man's shoulder, watching the contract be hidden away and giving up.
They spent another two days in Beijing before taking the plane home.
Three months later, Wu Yue finally received the customized prosthesis for Chu Dong in the hospital. Under the guidance of the doctor, he put on Chu Dong's custom-made calf prosthesis. Chu Dong was carefully supported by Wu Yue and got up from the wheelchair.
His legs were white and straight, and the mutilated empty trousers pants now had a prosthetic leg attached. The prosthetic leg was exactly of the same shape and length as his original calf, the surface glowed with a dark gray luster and texture. The cold metal machinery was spliced with the warmth of a human body, but it didn't have the slightest incongruence. Standing in place, Chu Dong's slender fingers held his rolled up trousers, like a mythical piece of artificial intelligence returning to the present from the future.
"Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?" Wu Yue was so excited that he couldn't speak straight. He held Chu Dong's hand tightly, "Can you walk?"
Chu Dong looked at him, his big clear eyes curling slightly and smiling, he slowly took his first step with Wu Yue's firm support.
The doctor confirmed that Chu Dong could walk, and after teaching them in detail how to use and maintain the prosthetic limb, they let them go home.
Wu Yue put away Chu Dong's wheelchair and crutches, and after getting out of the car, held him patiently as the two slowly went upstairs. Once he had on trousers and shoes, Chu Dong didn't look handicapped in the slightest. He adapted to the prosthesis and took Wu Yue's fingers while going upstairs step by step. Some sweat had beaded on his little face.
Chu Dong raised his face and smiled at Wu Yue, "Dad, I walk so slowly."
Wu Yue stroked the fine sweat on his forehead, "It's fine, we'll go slowly."
It took them twenty minutes to go upstairs and reach home. When Chu Dong reached a flat space, he walked around the house by himself. He still hadn't gotten used to the feeling of having support under the leg, and when the road was rocky, Wu Yue nervously followed behind him for fear of him falling. Chu Dong asked him not to worry and just walked slowly. Wu Yue followed his instructions and went to the kitchen to cook.
Chu Dong walked to a mirror, lifting his trouser legs, and focusing on observing his prosthetic limb. He lifted it up and took a look. After bending his knees, the prosthetic limb tilted backwards. He put down his pants, went to the bathroom to take a pot of water, and went to the balcony to water the flowers. Standing while watering the flowers was much more convenient than sitting. Chu Dong quickly took care of all the flowers, he put down the kettle and turned to walk to the kitchen.
When Wu Yue was washing the vegetables, he heard the sound of footsteps behind him, a pair of thin white arms hugged his waist from behind. Chu Dong leaned against his back and stopped moving.
"Dong'er, Dad is cooking."
"Hmm," Chu Dong released his arms and stood next to him, also picking up food, "Let's cook together."
Wu Yue smiled, "Alright, you wash the vegetables and I'll fry them."
Chu Dong, under the guidance of Wu Yue, washed the selected vegetables handed to him. Whenever he needed to move, Chu Dong would always look down at his legs before moving. They cooked the meal together, and Chu Dong took the initiative to wash the dishes after the meal.
After a while, Chu Dong called for Wu Yue in the bathroom. Wu Yue went over and saw Chu Dong put a stool in front of the bathroom mirror, holding a large bath towel in his hand, he stood in front of the mirror and looked at him, "Dad, I'll cut your hair."
After hearing what he said, Wu Yue touched his hair and looked in the mirror. Recently, he had been too busy running the business and taking care of Chu Dong's school stuffs. He had forgotten to shave his stubble and didn't care about the messy hair, he looked a bit sloppy.
Wu Yue sat down in front of the mirror and Chu Dong put a bath towel around him, "When did Dong'er learn how to give haircuts?"
"I saw from TV."
Chu Dong rolled up his sleeves and gave him a simple wash. After drying, he took the scissors and cut off the slightly longer strands. He was very attentive. He carefully looked at the scissors in hand and helped Wu Yue cut his hair little by little, he used the clippers to shave the back of the neck.
Wu Yue was very surprised: "Really?"
Chu Dong gently pressed his neck and said softly, "Dad, don't make trouble, I'm afraid I'll cut you."
Wu Yue didn't tease him and sat still. Chu Dong helped him straighten out a simple short hairstyle with steady and thin hands. He then shaved him with some shaving foam to clean the stubble and scrubbed it with a towel. The man in the mirror gradually looked very sharp. After cleaning up, Wu Yue's handsome and heroic features became more prominent, his sword eyebrows and starry eyes gleamed.
Chu Dong helped Wu Yue take off the bath towel as Wu Yue looked at himself in the mirror, "Dong'er, your craft's better than a professional."
"So I'll be cutting dad's hair from now on."
It just so happened that Wu Yue needed to go out to walk some errands, he was much more refreshed after being cleaned up by Chu Dong. Chu Dong took out a shirt and a black jacket from the closet and handed it to him, "Wear this."
Wu Yue felt like something was wrong after changing his clothes. He raised his arm to look at the sleeve and asked, "Is this new?"
"I ironed it for dad." Chu Dong's expression looked a little helpless, he gave Wu Yue the clothes. "These clothes have all been tucked deep inside the closet, they're all wrinkled, I ironed them all. Dad shouldn't throw them away in the future."
a
Wu Yue felt very warm and grateful in his heart, he patted Chu Dong's head, "I see."
Before going out, Chu Dong hugged Wu Yue and kissed him on the face before waving goodbye. This had become a small ritual for them, and Wu Yue had gradually gotten used to Chu Dong doing it every day.
After Wu Yue went out, Chu Dong began cleaning the house. He had wanted to do this long ago. Wu Yue was very busy and often careless. Although he swept and mopped regularly, it could be said that most men could do the same if not a better job. Chu Dong had a slight habit for cleanliness, but due to inconvenience, he could only watch and sigh secretly.
Chu Dong gathered up the aprons, swept the floor, mopped, and cleaned all the corners inside and out. He wiped around with a rag, and all the garbage was put in big bags and packed away. He progressed slowly, cleaning up slowly, he became busy all afternoon making the house clean and fresh.
This was the first time Chu Dong had been busy for so long. Seeing that it was time for dinner, he went to the kitchen and started cooking dinner.
He followed the technique and steps he watched Wu Yue do every time before, learning a little clumsily and laying down two bowls of noodles. There was one egg for him and two for Wu Yue. He carried the noodles to the dining table and put down the bowl, he turned on the small chandelier hanging on the top of the dining table, and the warm yellow light poured down, making the noodles on the table look shiny and hot.
The door was opened by key and Wu Yue hurried in, "Dong'er, Dad came back late today, are you hungry..."
Before he could finish speaking, he smelled an appetizing scent. He raised his head in surprise and saw Chu Dong standing by the dining table looking at him, he looked a little shy, "I made dinner, Dad."
The light fell on him, making him full of brightness and warmth. Wu Yue stepped forward, looking at the two bowls of noodles on the table, and touching Chu Dong's head subconsciously.
Chu Dong rubbed his palma together, and said in embarrassment, "I don't know if it tastes good or not, it's the first time I've made this."
Wu Yue replied seriously: "It smells so good, it must be delicious."
He took off his jacket and put it aside, sitting down and picking up his chopsticks. He ate, snorting. Chu Dong sat opposite and looked at him, "How does it taste?"
Wu Yue gave a thumbs up and said vaguely, "Our Dong'er is a talented little chef."
Chu Dong eyebrows curved into a smile, he then he lowered his head to eat his own noodles. Wu Yue had a big appetite and ate fast. He ate a large bowl of noodles in a few big mouthfuls. Chu Dong was afraid that he wouldn't eat enough and gave some noodles from his own bowl.
Wu Yue could see that he had cleaned the house. As long as Chu Dong was in a good mood, no matter how busy or tired he was, Wu Yue would be put in a better mood.
After dinner, Wu Yue had just turned on the TV when Chu Dong ran over and got into his arms. He leaned against his shoulder.
"Dad, can I cook for us from now on?"
Wu Yue hugged and embraced him lovingly, "Do you like cooking?"
Chu Dong nodded, "Dad can concentrate on work, I'll do all our housework in the future."
a
Wu Yue couldn't help but laugh, teasing him, "Won't you become tired?"
"I'm not tired." Chu Dong leaned on his shoulder dependently, "If it makes it easier on Dad."
"So you were feeling sorry for your Dad."
Chu Dong usually cuddled around Wu Yue's neck like a cat when he had his arms around him. No one spoke and both of them eased around each other. After a while, Chu Dong raised his head again and suddenly asked, "Did Mom do the housework before?"
Wu Yue was taken aback for a long time, it took him a long time to react, "She didn't do it much, why is Dong'er asking this?"
"So it's Dad who cooks and mops the floor?"
"Yes." As far as he could say, Wu Yue used to do almost all the work at home. Zhao Qian didn't really like doing housework, so Wu Yue took everything. He didn't think there was any problem with this, it didn't matter to him who did more work, as long as his lover and family was happy. With happiness and stability, he can dote on the other as much as he wanted for all his life.
Chu Dong nestled softly in the man's arms and stopped talking. Wu Yue stroked his hair, feeling that the child wasn't in a well mood, he tentatively asked, "What's wrong, Dong'er?"
Chu Dong turned his head, and said with a muffled voice, "Did Dad and Mom divorce?"
"No... not yet."
Although Wu Yue had deliberately refrained from mentioning this matter and those words, Chu Dong was smart and clever, he'd piece everything together over time. Wu Yue sighed, thinking about it. It hurt. Zhao Qian was so confident that he wouldn't be willing to go to take it to court, much less divorce. Since Wu Yue took Chu Dong back home, he had focused almost all of his energy on the child. He had neither the energy nor leisure to entangle with Zhao Qian, so everything had been dragged till now, there's been no worthwhile result so far.
Wu Yue was worried that this matter would affect Chu Dong, he was thinking about what to say in his heart when he heard Chu Dong say first, "Dad doesn't want to divorce Mom?"
Wu Yue was startled and looked at Chu Dong. Chu Dong also looked at him, his eyes were full of gentleness, grievances and attachment, "I'll always be with you and I can take care of you."
He snuggled against Wu Yue's chest, unwilling to let go, and sat on the man's torso straddling his legs. A beautiful undulating line formed from the thin waist to the round buttocks. Chu Dong bit Wu Yue's chin with eagerness, propping up his body and lowering his head to kiss the man's lips.
Wu Yue was slightly nervous and held Chu Dong's thighs, Chu Dong held his face and kissed him. The soft tip of his tongue pierced into his mouth countless times and stirred his nerves together. Chu Dong expressed a little anxiousness from the kiss, mixed with some inexplicable anger, it scorched and burned Wu Yue silly.
"Dong'er... ah..." Wu Yue was so stiff that he was bitten by the child so his tongue felt sore. He needn't know whether to cry or laugh, and without giving up resistance, pressed back to kiss Chu Dong. He was patient and gentle, like a big bear hugging a little sparrow, waiting for it to air it's anger and letting it vent until it's calmed down.
He thought of Chu Dong's dependence on him, this kind of need gave him an almost unlimited motivation to try his best and build a windless and rainless nest for Chu Dong. He even thought that if Chu Dong ever wanted to stay in this nest forever, he would keep building and expanding the base.
He would guard in front of this nest and cut off all the darkness and pain for his Chu Dong.
a
After Chu Dong got used to the prosthetic limb at home, Wu Yue began to formally schedule his enrollment and asked about it. He didn't want to let too many people around him to know about Chu Dong, especially Zhao Qian's family, for fear that someone would disturb their peaceful life. Fortunately, he had an old client whom he had a good relationship with working in a high school. He tried to ask and the other party was very enthusiastic, helping Wu Yue with his questions. After sharing several meals, he finally talked about the affiliated high school. It would be no problem joining a class, but they had to see Chu Dong first.
Wu Yue's original intention was to simply let the Chu Dong study from the first day of the first year, so that it would be easy to learn knowledge and slowly make friends. He took Chu Dong to meet with the people from the school, and they came and chatted with Chu Dong alone for a long time. After they finished, Wu Yue was told that he didn't need to waste time re-entering Chu Dong in a junior high school. In the next school year, he'll just need to take an exam to learn with the children from the class. They should just take advantage of the few months of free time and let the training classes make up for Chu Dong's knowledge.
Wu Yue still couldn't believe it, but the other party smiled and said that the child was very smart and could speak English. He was now at the junior high school level, so there was no need to worry.
Wu Yue went to ask Chu Dong again, but Chu Dong just replied obediently: "I just read it here and there."
Chu Dong nodded and smiled at him, "I can also sing English songs, do you want to listen Dad?"
He sang a very old English song at random, with a clear and standard tone, Wu Yue was stunned by this: "Dong'er, did you study this by yourself before?"
Chu Dong held his fingers, lowering his eyes and swaying his legs. He raised his head after a long while, showing a sweet and lovely smile, "Yeah, the dean has a radio, I sometimes use it so I learn a lot of stuff."
Chu Dong will be starting school by fall.
