Chapter 5

Of course, Shaoxuan didn’t intend for Caesar to really kill them; the tribe didn’t allow it. However, he absolutely wouldn’t give up what he had in hand, especially not to these three little brats.

While Shaoxuan was considering whether to punch or throw stones, the three people walking up the mountain didn’t notice him lying in wait. Their attention was more focused on other things, wary of flying stones. They didn’t know which path was the safest, so they could only roughly judge and avoid places that made loud noises.

"Zhan, are you sure it’s this way?" Sai, who was walking in front, dodged a stone that fell from above, looking angrily at the person hiding behind him, his eyebrows almost standing on end.

The timid boy named Zhan shrank his neck and said, "Definitely. My father is in charge of patrolling today. He saw Mai come down this way. He should be close. Mai is a mid-level warrior, so he must have left a lot of good stuff."

Sai snorted, kicked a stone that had fallen at his feet, and continued walking forward.

As Sai and the others got closer, Shaoxuan held his breath, waiting for the best moment.

After working together many times, Shaoxuan didn’t need to say much. He gave Caesar a signal and then suddenly dashed at Sai, his right fist clenched, aiming for Sai’s face.

Sai’s reaction wasn’t slow. He was the strongest among the three. Caught off guard by Shaoxuan’s sudden attack, he couldn’t fully dodge it, only managing to turn his head to avoid a hit to his nose. However, his face still suffered, and before he could react, his jaw was hit hard. The consecutive attacks made Sai dizzy, and he fell backward.

But this was just the beginning. In just a moment, Shaoxuan’s fists rained down on Sai’s face.

In the end, Shaoxuan didn’t choose to use stones.

Even with bare hands, these solid punches were no joke.

The people of the Flame Horn tribe had strong physical constitutions. Even children who hadn’t awakened their totem powers were far stronger than most people Shaoxuan had seen in his previous life. Shaoxuan didn’t hold back in his punches, wanting to resolve the situation quickly.

On the other side, as Shaoxuan charged at Sai, Caesar pounced on Ye. As Shaoxuan had trained him, Caesar didn’t bite Ye’s flesh directly but clamped down on the animal skin and the grass rope tied around his waist, dragging him in another direction. Even though Caesar was still a puppy, he could easily drag a ten-year-old child, preventing Ye from causing trouble for Shaoxuan and not giving him a chance to get up.

As for the third person, Zhan, he was the most timid of the three, neither as fierce nor as strong as the others. Shaoxuan left him for last.

When Shaoxuan suddenly attacked Sai, Zhan and Ye were both startled. Before Ye could help Sai, Caesar pounced on him. Seeing the sharp teeth so close, Zhan and Ye almost wet their pants, especially Ye, who was being dragged away by Caesar, shouting for help.

Zhan, who was left behind, took a while to react and then swung a wooden stick at Shaoxuan.

While Shaoxuan was punching Sai, he also kept an eye on Zhan’s movements. He dodged the wooden stick with his head, feeling a burning pain on his back from the hit. He didn’t immediately dodge Zhan’s stick but punched Sai even faster.

Sai was two years older than Shaoxuan and had a stronger build, but as a child who hadn’t awakened his totem power, he quickly lost his fighting ability under Shaoxuan’s relentless attacks.

Shaoxuan panted heavily. If he couldn’t end the fight quickly, he would be the one to lose. He had suffered enough from hesitation in the past six months.

Having dealt with the biggest troublemaker, Shaoxuan rolled to avoid the wooden stick and looked at Zhan. The ferocity from beating Sai was still in his eyes, making the already timid Zhan’s hands tremble.

Seeing Sai beaten to the ground, Zhan knew he couldn’t retaliate in the short term. Ye was clearly in a difficult situation, and his panicked cries could still be heard. Tightening his grip on the wooden stick, Zhan felt a chill run down his spine. Meeting Shaoxuan’s gaze, he instinctively looked away.

Seeing Zhan’s cowardly appearance, Shaoxuan knew he was already thinking of retreating. Standing up, Shaoxuan took a step toward Zhan.

Shaoxuan’s pace wasn’t fast, but each step made Zhan feel a heavy blow to his heart, and with each blow, Zhan’s face grew paler.

Among the two, Zhan was the one with a weapon and the taller one, but in terms of momentum, Zhan was clearly at a disadvantage. When Shaoxuan was just a step away, Zhan trembled, threw the wooden stick, and quickly backed away a few steps, indicating he didn’t intend to fight Shaoxuan anymore, showing his weakness.

After so many confrontations, Zhan knew that if he made this choice, Shaoxuan wouldn’t continue to beat him, even though he had hit Shaoxuan with the stick earlier.

Sai, who was just starting to recover, saw Zhan’s cowardly behavior and almost spat blood. Damn, what a lousy teammate!

When Sai realized the attacker was Shaoxuan, he inwardly cursed. They hadn’t fared well against Shaoxuan in previous encounters, and this time, he hadn’t even had a chance to retaliate before being beaten to the ground. Sai felt extremely frustrated!

They had risked coming to pick up some loot, but they hadn’t expected Shaoxuan to be here, and even earlier than them! Was this guy a wolf with a keen nose?! On their side, not only did they come late, but they also lost the fight. Thinking about this, Sai looked at Shaoxuan with a deep-seated hatred.

Shaoxuan ignored Sai. He didn’t want to let Zhan off so easily today, but he didn’t beat him to the ground like Sai. Instead, he kicked him toward Sai.

Picking up the wooden stick that Zhan had dropped, Shaoxuan walked to where Sai and Zhan were lying on the ground. He weighed the stick in his hand, wiped the blood from his fist onto it, and then smiled at the two.

Seeing that smile, Sai and Zhan felt a chill down their spines, wishing they could run away immediately, as if something terrible was about to happen. But Sai was lying on the ground, unable to stand, and Zhan, sitting on the ground, quickly tried to back away.

Shaoxuan leaned down and swung the wooden stick at Sai and Zhan, his movement sudden and decisive.

In that moment, Sai and Zhan felt their breath stop, their bodies turning cold, their eyes fixed on the stick swinging down.

Crack!

The stick hit the ground between Sai and Zhan, breaking instantly, and the front part shattered, sending splinters flying onto their faces, causing some cuts.

Shaoxuan leaned closer to the stunned two. "The loot is mine. You can come over after I’m done. Got it?"

His voice wasn’t loud, but it carried an oppressive force, making Sai and Zhan feel that if they didn’t show weakness, that stick might have hit them.

Sai didn’t say anything, still glaring at Shaoxuan, while Zhan, trembling all over, nodded quickly, showing his understanding and caution.

No wonder his parents didn’t let him approach the children from the cave. The children from the cave were truly terrifying, even more so than Sai, who often beat people. Zhan thought.

Shaoxuan didn’t waste any more time on them. Since Sai and the others could come, others might also come. Shaoxuan could only rely on his wits to deal with three children, and that was with Caesar’s help. If there were more people or older children, Shaoxuan would have to retreat.

Thinking of this, Shaoxuan quickened his pace in picking up the loot.
