Chapter 5

Gordon: "..." —— Without saying a word, he suddenly threw an object resembling a grenade.

"Bang" —— The grenade-like object exploded in mid-air, emitting a blinding flash.

I (voiceover): "Damn, you suddenly pull this off, almost blinding my golden eyes."

On the scene, apart from Gordon and Jonathan (who had super telepathic abilities and knew Gordon’s tactics in advance), the other three were temporarily blinded. Jordan used the ring to release Green Lantern energy, attempting to materialize weapons for a counterattack; Bid shot black threads from his wrist to cover his body, forming a battle suit; Kent focused on his hearing and touch to avoid the impending fierce battle and prevent collateral damage.

Gordon: "Your ring, which you are proud of, can release Green Lantern energy, materializing the user's imagination into various weapons and tools, indeed very powerful. But what exactly are you materializing now? A knife? A sword? Or a saw?"

I (voiceover): "A knife? A sword? I guess it’s a club. But why is the materialized object so unstable? Did Little Green’s ‘strict’ training on Oa planet just a bunch of lies and boasting? Or did he bribe the instructors to pass?"

Jordan: "What are you talking about? I’m materializing a machine gun. If you don’t want to die..."

Gordon: "A machine gun? Try pulling the trigger and see what it shoots." —— While speaking, he calmly took a gun from the drawer of the desk and loaded it (all custom-made).

Jordan: "How can this be..." —— Unable to shoot anything with the "machine gun."

Gordon: "Let me explain it to you. The Green Lantern’s ability to materialize things from their imagination relies most heavily on their visual organs."

Jordan: "What do you mean?" —— Confused

Gordon: "Can you expect a blind person to accurately draw a picture on a canvas? Without a reference, how can they draw? So, as long as you are blind, you cannot accurately materialize any object, making you useless. You might as well leave those two aliens behind."

Jordan: "Do you know the consequences of this? The Guardians won’t forgive you." —— Threatening

Gordon: "The Guardians? Just a bunch of old, stuck-up, self-proclaimed greats. Am I afraid of them?"

Jordan: "Damn!" —— Released the Green Lantern energy from the ring to perform a wide-range attack, a green light "storm" swept through the office.

I (voiceover): "Because you can’t see, you choose to use a wide-range attack... Not wrong, but aren’t you afraid of forcing the other two neutral characters into the enemy camp? They’re afraid of getting caught in the crossfire too."

"Bang" —— The sound of a gunshot, Jordan fell to the ground in pain, his body convulsing and twitching.

Kent: "What did you do? If you kill him, you’ll really be at odds with the Guardians." —— Surprised

Gordon: "Don’t worry, I used a special stun grenade designed for superhumans. It affects his spinal nerves, posing no life-threatening danger or risk of permanent disability. In a few hours, he’ll be back to normal. During his convulsions, it will be enough for my subordinates to remove his ring and subdue him."

Kent: "But even if you subdue Jordan, if you don’t extradite those two aliens to Oa, you’ll still offend the Guardians. They might send other Green Lanterns to Earth to force the issue. Can your organization handle it?"

I (voiceover): "Indeed, according to the synopsis I read, the Guardians’ Green Lantern Corps alone has 3,600 members, not to mention Oa’s other armed forces. Can your organization win this war?"

Gordon: "You’re overthinking it. My actions will gain the understanding of the Guardians on Oa. There won’t be a conflict with their subordinates."

Kent: "Understanding? What do you mean?"

Gordon: "I can’t tell you the specifics, but I can say that [our comrades are spread across the world, even infiltrating certain interstellar organizations]. You can figure it out yourself."

I (voiceover): "Damn, this organization is too monstrous."

Kent: "..." —— "Aren’t you just boasting? Are you planning to use me as a pawn and a sacrifice if the Guardians and the Green Lantern Corps really attack? I’m not a pawn for your ambitions."

Gordon: "How could I? I’m your father! (I’m your father)" —— Cheerful

Kent: "Pah! (No)"

I (voiceover): "Looks like the old man uses this line as a mood regulator."

Gordon: "Sigh, is my good son still in the rebellious phase? Even if you don’t believe me, you should believe the organization. The organization is like your mother, raising you for twenty years and nurturing your talents, with deep affection."

Kent: "Deep affection? This sea is a dead sea, isn’t it?"

Jonathan: "Sorry to interrupt your father-son communication, but I have more important news. The Spider is losing control and going berserk."

Gordon: "Losing control and going berserk? What’s happening?"

Jonathan: "Jordan’s wide-range attack just activated the self-defense mechanism of the [Venom suit], which has now begun to erode Bid’s consciousness and fight for control of his body."

Gordon: "That shouldn’t happen. The [Venom suit] is designed to activate its self-defense mechanism only when Bid is knocked unconscious by an enemy, a passive defense. How could it actively erode his consciousness and fight for control?"

Jonathan: "I’m not sure if it’s a design flaw or something else, but the [Venom suit] has developed self-awareness and is now eroding the host’s consciousness and taking over the body... No, it has already taken over."

Gordon: "This experimental alien material disappoints me. It’s already causing problems so quickly. It seems we need to understand the technology before using it."

Gordon: "What’s this 2B monster babbling? Translate it." —— Asking Jonathan.

Jonathan: "He just came into being, a newborn, who doesn’t know any language and can only make meaningless sounds." —— Explaining after using his telepathic abilities to sense Venom’s thoughts.

Gordon: "A newborn? (Without hesitation) Child, I’m your father." —— Cheerful

I (voiceover): "Damn! You old guy, you’re just taking advantage whenever you can!!"
