The warehouses of the Rexlar Empire come in many varieties. The most fantastical are those that store magical items. In an empire with nearly 30 billion people, one can imagine just how many valuable items its warehouses might contain. Or perhaps, one cannot imagine.
Gongsun Murong and Nalasha now stood outside the sixth warehouse. After going through a series of complicated procedures, the warehouse doors finally opened for them. The moment the warehouse opened, the magical lamps lit up, illuminating the entire space. The two of them stood inside, curiously looking around.
The warehouse was vast, roughly a square hall of 10,000 square meters, with no tall shelves. Instead, every few steps there was a box on the ground, covered with glass, and on a soft cushion inside was an item. Next to each item was a small sign, detailing its name, the materials used to make it, and its function.
"Wow, wow, so many valuable things," Nalasha said, flying up to a height of two meters, her eyes wide as she looked down, speaking happily.
Gongsun Murong also showed a pleased expression; he did not yet have any magical equipment. He had originally planned to find an opportunity to spend some resources to have someone make a set that would be useful. Now his wish could be fulfilled, and the items he would receive were even better than he had imagined.
As he walked down the aisle, he carefully examined each magical item, pondering how to assemble a complete set. Ideally, he wanted a set that could provide assistance for all types of magic. But he knew this was only a dream; even Nalasha did not have a set that could assist all types of magic. Lucia's red equipment provided assistance for fire magic, with only a slight boost to mental energy for other types.
So, Gongsun Murong thought he needed to find five sets of equipment: wind, earth, fire, water, and plant. He could use them in critical moments as needed.
He saw a pair of earrings, described as wind-type, light blue, and of the sixth grade. He thought they were good; magical items were graded from one to nine, with nine being the highest and one the lowest, and the most common being those of the sixth grade.
"Murong, I have a new dream. I want to have many, many warehouses in our own home, each filled with countless treasures, and I can visit them whenever I want," Nalasha said, lowering her height to look at the earrings in front of Gongsun Murong. "Murong, do you like wearing earrings?"
"I don't, but I'm willing to wear them in battle, along with anklets and hairpins," Gongsun Murong said frankly.
He preferred clean and simple clothing. Although many men here dressed up, even buying cosmetics, it was not his style. He was more focused on enhancing his strength. He didn't care much about whether he gained strength through external means. It would be impractical to fight bare-handed in any situation to prove his ability. How would one fight in a space war? If an enemy fleet came, would they just float in space? That would only indicate three things: poverty, lack of warships; exceptional combat ability, not needing warships; or foolishness, only a fool would make such a choice.
Nalasha was also very practical; as long as they could defeat the enemy, the means didn't matter. The two of them, with very practical thoughts, carefully selected items in the warehouse.
In the end, Gongsun Murong only chose two and a half sets of equipment: a seventh-grade fire set, a seventh-grade wood set, and a few seventh-grade plant accessories, missing a pair of bracelets, a belt, and a staff.
Nalasha was just there for the show; she didn't take anything, as none of it was better than what she had. Her equipment improved as her strength increased. There was no other equipment like Nalasha's in the entire empire; only a historical book mentioned such items in a corner, stating that the highest level of magical equipment should be alive, resonating with the user's physiology. After that, there was no more information.
Moreover, the true power of Nalasha's jewelry was not in wearing it directly but in using it with her coffin, including the set with its own space. Lucia wore a necklace during battles that Nalasha lent her. Lucia couldn't use Nalasha's items to enhance her strength but could open the space inside.
So, Nalasha just looked, exclaiming at the beautiful magical items.
Emperor Rexlar waited outside. Seeing the two come out, he asked, "Have you chosen?"
"Not yet, only two and a half sets, still lacking," Nalasha said, gesturing with her hands, one showing two and the other five, interpreting the 'five' as half a set.
"What about Gongsun Murong?" Emperor Rexlar asked again.
"It's Murong, I don't need anything; I have better," Nalasha said, pouting, seemingly unimpressed by the items.
Emperor Rexlar understood. He had seen the battle footage; Nalasha had been suppressed, so she returned to exchange a water set for an earth set and then went back to fight. This suggested that Nalasha had other complete sets of equipment.
Where did they come from?
Emperor Rexlar pondered. Could they be spies sent by an enemy country or continent to gain his trust and harm the empire? Impossible. He wouldn't send Nalasha and Gongsun Murong as spies; it would be too costly and not worth it. So, their identities were intriguing.
"Open another warehouse," Emperor Rexlar said, unable to figure out where they came from, and called the manager to the next warehouse. This was a true favor; even his own royal children didn't have this privilege. Was one warehouse not enough?
Gongsun Murong and Nalasha happily headed to the next warehouse. Emperor Rexlar followed with a smile, glancing back at the previous warehouse. It definitely had complete sets of seventh-grade magical jewelry for all types. Gongsun Murong couldn't select them, which meant one thing: the compatibility issue between the jewelry.
Even as a Celestial Mage, he couldn't perceive the compatibility. The only way to know which was good was to try different combinations. But the two didn't spend enough time to try each piece.
Could one of them directly perceive the compatibility through the jewelry?
If so...
Emperor Rexlar couldn't help but get excited. He planned to ask later who could directly perceive it. He would have them help combine the items in the empire's warehouses to enhance overall strength.
"Your Majesty, is it the compatibility issue?" Manager Nigel also thought of the same problem.
"Yes! Possibly," Emperor Rexlar said, nodding slightly.
Nigel became excited. He thought of some magical items that seemed good but actually decreased overall strength when used. These were substandard items that could be used alone but not in combination. They were cheap and rarely chosen. Some people tried to combine them, but it usually took decades to find a set, and those with other ways to make money wouldn't waste their time.
If Gongsun Murong or Nalasha had this ability...
Rich, rich, they would be rich.
He would talk to them later. Nigel's face showed a mischievous smile, as if he was planning something bad.
"Hmm?" Emperor Rexlar noticed and glared at his manager.
"Your Majesty, there are many incompatible pieces of jewelry," Nigel reminded.
"Oh!" Emperor Rexlar's eyes darted, showing a sneaky look, but he quickly composed himself
