“Sinner! The world is destroyed because of you! Do you know your sins?”
“Know my sins, my ass! I only slept, what do I know? Since when can taking a nap destroy the world?”
“Your behaviour yesterday broke his heart! He was so sad that he divided his soul and exiled himself!”
“What’s wrong with rejecting a crazy person? Rejecting someone and refusing to fall in love with them can cause the end of the world?”
“But the one you refused is a demon!”
“…fuck off.”
______
Thirty-three realms away, gods resided in the Ninth Heaven.
Li Hong didn’t know if there were immortals outside the Ninth Heaven, but in Hexu Valley outside Jiuxi Town, there really were immortal cultivators.
It’s not just Hexu Valley. There were hundreds of cultivating sects, big and small, throughout the continent. People in the secular world were proud of being able to enter the mountain gate. Although the road of cultivation was narrow and most people could only glimpse the doorway in their entire life, this little doorway is said to prolong one’s life and thus, was enough to make people flock to them. It can be said that on this continent, a cultivator from a famous sect may have a higher status than the emperor of a small country.
In Li Hong’s opinion, this phenomenon was absurd.
Birth, old age, sickness and death are all human nature so why bother walking onto the single-plank bridge of hardship where sometimes, the end wasn’t even clear, in order to defy nature’s laws. Those who are gifted, fine, but those who have no talent yet still desperately want to enter the mountain gate and abandon their wives and children at home in the process? Those who abandon their originally carefree secular life? If they weren’t crazy, then what were they?
“As long as you enter the mountain gate to cultivate, even if you don’t master cultivation, you can still live for a few more years. Who doesn’t want to live longer? Having said that, without these people willing to spend money, what would these cultivation sects rely on to support themselves, and who would you rely on to serve you tea and water?”
Li Hong heard Tianshen whispering into her ears and retorted expressionlessly, “Thank you. I am a tree now, relying on the sun and rain. I can live if it’s in Hexu Valley falls.”
Tianshen was so peeved by her words he snorted angrily, and stopped speaking.
Li Hong didn’t feel any joy from winning that argument either. She looked up at her own branches and leaves that hid the sky and covered the earth. She then laid on one of the sturdy branches and yawned lazily.
—Yes, her branches were omnipresent.
Li Hong was originally an ordinary student who had just entered society, and lived a life of working overtime from nine to five. Originally, she could only be classified as a “modern city girl” at best, but once she had issued a good person card, the world was destroyed.
After waking up the next day, she found that the world had become a piece of scorched earth. It was a really bad memory. Then she was scolded by a kid who claimed to be the “Guardian” which was also not a good memory. In short, Li Hong learned that the person she thought was a hobo and had rejected in the park the night before was a demon. He was heartbroken because of her rejection. Thus, he cut his soul into a few pieces and threw it into the realms, so as to avoid this cruel world. He fled to lick his wounds but this world was promptly abandoned by him.
With the devil absent, Yin and Yang were reversed and as a result, the world fell into chaos. Within one night, the world met its end. It was at this time that Tianshen appeared in front of Li Hong. Within the three thousand worlds, he was officially in charge of looking after and protecting the Guardian of Li Hong’s world. He never expected Li Hong to cause such a big screw up while he was taking a nap. In order to fix the mistake, he forced Li Hong to go to the realms to coax back the reality-escaping demon god, remedy her mistake and save the world.
“As long as everything is back in its place, I will fulfill one of your wishes. Whatever you want, I can help you, even if you want to become the richest person on Earth!”
Li Hong was not interested in the remuneration promised by Tianshen, but she can’t bear a scorched earth. What does a world in chaos mean? No power, no water and no internet, even games can’t be played!
Rationally speaking, what joy would a life without games have?
Even if, in her own heart, she was cursing this irresponsible glass-like heart that dared to imitate Voldemort slicing his own soul, she had no other option but to cooperate with Tianshen.
“Just let him experience having a relationship. I asked my colleagues to check, and it was because he was too sad from your rejection that he cracked. As long as he gets what he wants, he will naturally return to his body and leave the realms!”
“So it means I have to go and find him a girlfriend to make sure he lives his life happily? Am I his mother?”
“…If not, you can just fall in love with him! Isn’t he like this because of you? Anyway, this is the trouble you caused, so you have to solve it!”
“Oh, then I’ll be his mother.”
Forced to be the mother of the broken god, Li Hong entered the realms with Tianshen. In order to help her coax the glass heart ancestor, Tianshen promised to find her the most convenient identity, so Li Hong became a tree.
The tree was the source of Hexu Valley’s spiritual veins, the treasure of the town. It was respectfully called Master Patriarch’s sacred tree by the whole school because the tree addressed the founder of the mountain as elder brother.
The gender of the transfigured person was female, and her body looked like a seven or eight-year-old loli, the kind that doesn’t wear socks or comb their hair.
Tian Shen was muttering by her ear and she was very annoyed. In order to avoid trouble, this guy appeared around her as a spirit, so even if she wanted to, she couldn’t block his mouth.
Tian Shen said, “Li Hong, why did you lie down! We have to go help the great god. If he doesn’t go back, what will happen to our world?”
Li Hong originally wanted to say no hurry, but Tianshen’s next sentence stopped her short, “You are still 3500 meters short of meeting him.”
Li Hong’s eyes suddenly sharpened, and she asked, “Where is he?”
Tian Shen replied, “It is reasonable to say that he should be in Hexu Valley. Why don’t you head into the valley to search?”
Li Hong retorted, “Well, if a grandma who hasn’t left forbidden grounds for hundreds of years suddenly went to the valley for a walk, wouldn’t you think it’s strange?”
Tian Shen was a little speechless, “…then what do you want to do?”
Just as Li Hongzheng wanted to suggest creating a few distractions and letting people from the valley send someone to investigate, a distraction came.
Her tree canopy suddenly curled up. For it to cause a commotion like this, it was obviously an instinctive reaction to feeling someone invading the forbidden area.
She lay on the trunk and watched as the old tree lifted up a thick branch, wide enough for three people to encircle their arms around it. She glanced at the intruding youth who, when compared to the tree, looked small enough to be a flower.
The young man cut a sorry figure and apparently seemed to have inadvertently broken into this place in a panic. He looked at Li Hong’s branch, which was high in the air, with a face full of despair.
At this moment, Tianshen shouted, “That’s him!”
Li Hong was stunned for a while, and for the first time, connected her own consciousness to the big tree. The branches that were about to come hacking down suddenly stopped and slowly came to rest on top of the desperate youth’s head.
The boy’s eyes were startled by the light that filtered through the gaps among the tree leaves, and he saw a girl wearing a plain cloth skirt with black hair scattered behind her, sitting on the branches, barefoot.
The sunlight shining through the leaves hit the small girl’s back, illuminating the fine features on her face in a golden glow. Her big and round green eyes swept the boy up and down and her pink lips hooking up when the boy suddenly came to a realization.
——Those were not human eyes!
Li Hong looked at the young man whose eyes were filled with wariness. Just as she wanted to say “Don’t be afraid”, she was interrupted by a flurry of commotion.
She was now this tree. Naturally, wherever the tree could sense, she could ‘see’ too.
Li Hong raised her head and looked towards the entrance to the forbidden ground. There were two or three disciples wearing Hexugu uniforms currently sneaking in. With just a glance, Li Hong could tell what was going on.
Suddenly, she lowered her head to ask, “Were you chased here by them?”
She didn’t know what the young boy was thinking but he gritted his teeth, and said, “Little sister, go farther. They are not good people.”
Li Hong was a little stunned when she heard this.
On the other hand, when Tianshen heard this, he couldn’t help but tremble, “As expected of the great god, always good and kind!”
Li Hong didn’t bother to remind the other party that ‘this kind god abandoned his responsibility and caused the end of the world’, and just asked, “Are you afraid of them?”
The boy gritted his teeth, “No. I’m not afraid.”
Li Hong felt that his response and attitude was right. No matter how desolate the world looked right now, he was a part of someone who had the power to destroy the world if he chose to abandon it. Sooner or later, he would become powerful. Even if he wasn’t prosperous now, he had to make himself prosperous.
So Li Hong said,”Okay, then you come with me to see them together.”
After that, she didn’t care what the teenager was thinking, jumped off the branches and walked towards the forbidden ground entrance. After two steps, she turned her head back to ask, “What’s wrong?”
The youth said, “Don’t go! They really aren’t good people! You- you are not human. You will be captured by them if you go!”
Hearing this, Li Hong was a little surprised. She looked at the young man again, and couldn’t help but ask, “Is he really the person you’re looking for?”
Tianshen huffed angrily, “Even if his appearance is different, it is impossible for me to not recognize his soul! This is part of the great god!”
Li Hong was a little emotional for a while. This part seemed to be a good person. Why is it that when he was whole, he was so irresponsible and glass-hearted?
Though she complained on the inside, she still told him, “It’s okay, the tree will protect me.”
The young man was skeptical, but Li Hong was too lazy to say anything. Seeing that he couldn’t stop her, the boy could only follow after her. It was strange; the surrounding vines and branches had originally been chasing and blocking him. However, when he was following her, they not only made it easier for them to pass through, but also took the initiative to open the way for them. The teen who had used almost an incense stick’s time to escape only used a cup of tea’s time to reach the edge of the forbidden area.
The disciples of Hexugu first saw the young man safe and sound , but before they could let out a breath of relief, they saw the green-eyed Li Hong. The leading disciple’s original complex emotions were instantly replaced with simple and rude schadenfreude, “Chen Lin! What nerve you have, fraternizing with a monster! I will take you and this monster to report to the head!”
The young man named Chen Lin was trying to explain something when he saw Li Hong raise her eyes to scan the leading disciple. A vine suddenly rose up, and lashed out at his face! Its strength was so great that it knocked this disciple to the ground, and caused him to spit out a few broken teeth!
Seeing this change, the other disciples suddenly panicked and pointed at Li Hong screaming, “D-demon!!”

Hello everyone! Ash, the TL here. I hope y’all enjoyed the first chapter.
I picked up another QT BG romance LMAO. I really love this genre and I definitely have a thing for demon & devils…. So I really couldn’t resist picking up 2 QT CNs at the same time… Honestly, I might die but for the love of QT, I’ll hang in there! Most likely I will be releasing one chapter every 2 weeks for this one. My other QT novel will also be 1 chapter per 2 weeks so I can alternate between the 2 novels.
I know there were quite a lot of footnotes. Generally, I prefer keeping everything closer to the unique Chinese idioms and language usage since it makes the reading experience more unique. I hope the footnotes weren’t too annoying and actually helped you better understand the text…
Anyhow, I gotta say, I’m already loving the novel. The ML is such a drama queen- I can’t with him. And neither can the MC either HAHAHA. She’s so done with his BS. I can’t wait to see how the two’s relationship develops. From the review I read, it’s gonna be quite a funny dynamic.
Anyhow, I’ll see y’all soon. Ash, out~
