Ch68.1 - Major General, We Will Meet Again Someday
13 min read3,286 wordsMature
These past years, the alien race fought against the Empire many times and were forced to retreat and hide in different places, constantly trying to plan their counterattacks. In their hearts, their hatred for Lei Ming had risen to an immeasurable level.
As soon as they heard his name, the aliens would tremble in both fear and rage, wishing desperately to devour the meat on his body and drink his blood.
When the man saw his enemy lingering on the brink of life and death, he fell into an incandescent joy. His face warped as he laughed out loud, not stopping even as he spit up blood.
“Lei Ming, so a day like this will come for you too.”
He lay on the ground with all the vulnerable points of his body exposed to his enemy.
Chen You floated in mid-air, panicking, as his brain filled up with scenes that were bloody enough to require mosaic censorship.
He asked the system, “Other than waiting for my time to come, is there anything I can do?”
The system said, “You can enjoy the sight of a one-sided killing.”
Chen You was on the verge of tears, “Don’t joke with me. My courage is small.”
The system stated, “It’s starting.”
Chen You watched as Lei Ming was kicked a few meters away like a sack of potatoes. He floated in front of the man as the other party reached through his body, grabbed Lei Ming from the back, and raised him above his head, throwing him into the distance.
“Shit!”
Chen You anxiously floated up and down, left and right, “Lei Ming, hurry and wake up!”
Lei Ming remained unconscious.
The man stepped on his body heavily, crushing him, “Aren’t you very powerful and domineering? Famous Major General Lei Ming, why is it that you’re just like a dog right now?”
Chen You gnashed his teeth in anger, “I’ll beat him into a hornet’s nest!”
The system said, “Calm down. Your mood right now is too messy. It’s bad for your brain.”
Chen You replied, “I can’t really control it.”
He saw the big hedgehog suddenly stare at Lei Ming’s pants as the expression in his eyes turned strange.
It was a world of ice and snow where one alien was simultaneously spitting blood and getting scared. What did he want to say? It was a bit frightening.
Chen You’s gaze also fell onto Lei Ming’s pants. At first, he was surprised, but then he turned completely bewildered.
The master had not yet awakened, but the two pendants unexpectedly soared to the sky, appearing on the scene with great momentum.
Big brother, what is your intent? Are you trying to scare off your opponent with your pendants?
Chen You didn’t understand, but he sensed that something big was going to happen, “Is Lei Ming going to wake up?”
The system answered, “Use your own eyes to observe.”
“…”
To be honest, Chen You’s current mood was akin to a powerful army forcefully crossing the Yangtze River. With people kicking people and horses trampling on enemies, the charge was utterly routed.
His mind was in a mess.
The man’s mentality was stronger than Chen You’s. Due to his shock, his eyes were bulging out of his head, “Hahahahaha! Lei Ming, turns out you were never human!”
Chen You couldn’t help giving a thumbs up. Yes, that’s right. Big hedgehog, you’re very smart. He’s not human. Eight hundred years ago, you might have been from the same family.
So there’s no need to kill.
The man gave no indication that they might be related as his breathing turned rapid. It seemed that he was calculating something.
Chen You’s spirit trembled, “That big hedgehog shouldn’t be planning to cut Lei Ming’s two pendants, right?”
The system stated, “Could be.”
Chen You shivered even harder. The alien was simply too ferocious. At a time like this, he’d even disregard his own body that’s vomiting blood to think carefully.
Look at the child next to him. He has the same number of pendants. If you want to do something, do it to him, ba.
Anyways, it’s not like he could use them. He had long wanted to get rid of them.
No matter how hard Chen You shouted, the man paid no attention to the body on the side.
Chen You thought hard and asked the system to move his body, along with its two pendants, and turn it over.
The child suddenly flipped over. The man’s nerves were stretched thin and just as he was about to stretch out his hand, he noticed the movement and smiled, “Looks like there was another one here.”
“What a beautiful little one.”
The man patted the child’s face, “I know you’re awake. Open your eyes. Don’t sleep.”
His manner of speaking was extremely threatening.
Chen You hehe’d, If you hit a few more times, maybe I’ll open my eyes and be able to see you faster.
The man slapped the youth’s face until it was red and swollen, but he still didn’t wake up. He reached out his hand and made a surprised sound.
“He’s dead?”
Then how did he turn over just now? The man felt a chill crawl up his hands and feet. Was he just imagining things?
Well, it didn’t really matter. They were all dying anyways.
The humans were despicable and ruthless. This time, he had barely escaped disaster.
The man laughed. Now that he caught a scapegoat, he would be able to face his people.
Chen You watched as the alien tore at his clothing revealing a chunk of missing flesh with the bones protruding.
Spirits can’t smell blood and aren’t able to experience nausea, otherwise Chen You would’ve gone to vomit.
Abruptly, his point of interest changed focus, “What the fuck. That’s horrifying! This alien’s pendant is covered in thorns!”
The system commented, “You’re getting excited over something so trivial.”
“Oh…” Chen You meaningfully prompted, “sounds like you have a story to tell.”
System, “…”
Chen You floated over and squatted as he took a closer look at the alien’s pendant. There were so many thorns densely packed onto the surface, he wasn’t sure if they suffered from claustrophobia.
Isn’t this the alien king? How could it be female?
The system explained, “For the aliens, the females are responsible for supporting their families and serving as the main labor and fighting force.”
Chen You asked, “Then what about the males?”
The system replied, “They’re responsible for being beautiful flowers and commanding the female work horses.”
Chen You, “…” What an illogical setting.
Fortunately, his mission target was not an alien, otherwise he not only would have to complete the task, but he would also have to raise a husband.
The man pressed against his wound, a muffled groan stifled in his mouth. His face was covered in sweat as he screamed, prolonging his life and hanging onto his last breath with all his might.
“Lei Ming, seven years ago, you killed my husband.”
The man squeezed out a sentence from the slit between his teeth, his face deathly pale, “I’ve always dreamed of killing you myself.”
He pulled a thorn off of his body, blood dripping down, and stabbed in the direction of Lei Ming’s neck, “Die!”
In the time it took to produce a spark from a flint stone, Chen You was pulled back into his body. He immediately grabbed a gun and aimed at the alien. Peng-peng-peng, he shot several times.
The man slowly wriggled his neck around, “Little one, you’re not dead?”
Chen You’s scalp turned numb and his hands shook as he continued to peng-peng-peng-peng-peng.
The man was shot into a honeycomb but still did not fall. Unexpectedly, he rushed towards Chen You at a terrible speed.
Since he didn’t take any precautions against an attack, Chen You’s weak little body was easily thrown down. Even worse, his gun was knocked out of his hands.
It’s over.
Chen You asked the system if it could give him another one.
The system replied that it would not, implying that Chen You should just resign himself to fate.
Chen You was unwilling to surrender to destiny. He was deathly afraid of getting ensnared in a pit.
The man held the gun and fondled it as his pupils constricted, “This isn’t from the Empire.”
Chen You complained in his heart, You’re so powerful you can tell this with one look. Why don’t you just ascend to Heaven already?
The man questioned the child and seized him, “Little one, I didn’t see you holding this in your hand. Tell me, how did you do it?”
Chen You tilted his head away, Motherfucker. Laozi doesn’t want to tell you.
The man haha’d and, without wasting a single second, shot at Lei Ming.
Chen You, “…”
He went into a frenzied rage, “If you want to beat me, what are you shooting him for?!”
“Does your heart hurt?” The man said, “Don’t think I’m ignorant. You two are a couple.”
“Because of you, Lei Ming didn’t enter the battlefield, right?”
The corners of Chen You’s mouth twitched, You’re well-informed.
The man continued to play with the gun, “Forget it, that’s not important.”
He took the pitch-black muzzle of the gun and aimed it at Lei Ming, “One person, one gun, both are indispensable.”
Unfortunately, the gun was out of bullets.
With this dramatic turn of events, Chen You couldn’t help but bai-bai.
The man’s smile turned gloomy and cold, his five fingers turning into sharp thorns that headed towards Lei Ming.
Chen You summoned this life’s full potential to surpass his limits and jump in front of Lei Ming, blocking the alien’s claw strike.
In the pit of his stomach, there was a bloody hole the size of a large bowl. Chen You’s first thought was, Fucking shit. After doing this and that, I still ended up as a simple human shield.
Dad, I’m going to see mom now. This was Chen You’s last regret as he lost consciousness.
As he crashed into Lei Ming’s chest and closed his eyes, his blood spurted onto Lei Ming’s heart and soundlessly dissolved without a trace.
When Chen You regained consciousness, it was nighttime. He couldn’t tell whether he was dead or not, but as he raised his head to look around, his gaze was captured by a pair of blood-red eyes.
“A ghost—”
A familiar voice rang out, “It’s me.”
Chen You fell into a daze for quite some time before he collected himself and asked, pleasantly surprised, “Major General, you’re okay?”
“Un.” Lei Ming hugged the boy, not concealing his excitement, “How did you wake up?”
Chen You was stumped.
He hesitated for a few seconds, and then answered, “I don’t know.”
“When I woke up, I saw a monster with thorns on its hands and feet attacking you, so I threw myself at it.”
Chen You rubbed his chest. What the fuck, where’s the hole? It’s gone? He touched it again but only felt that it was warm and flat, completely free of injury.
His efforts were not wasted and he yelped in surprise. Chen You went to inspect Lei Ming’s body and discovered that the gunshot wound was gone as well, along with the other injuries inflicted by the alien.
If it wasn’t for the faint blood stains on their clothes, he would’ve thought that it was all in his imagination.
Though they weren’t human, the two of them were the same race, and compared to the aliens, they seemed to be even more powerful.
Or was Lei Ming the only powerful one, and he was only there to shine a light?
“444, is it you?”
“It’s me.”
Chen You was dumbfounded, “This really is your doing?!”
The system replied, “Just letting you leave with dignity.”
Chen You, “…”
Lei Ming thought that the child was scared, so he kissed the youth’s face and restrained the murderous intent in his eyes, “That alien, where is he?”
Chen You’s face was confused.
This isn’t right. After the bloody cavity on his body was pierced through, the alien hadn’t died yet. He should’ve killed Lei Ming.
What happened afterwards?
Where’s the alien?
He asked the system what happened to the alien, but the system was taciturn.
Lei Ming tightly hugged the boy and stopped inquiring further, “If you can’t remember, don’t force yourself to think about it anymore.”
Chen You tightly hugged Lei Ming back. You’re okay, I’m okay. We’re alright.
In the next moment, Chen You was kissed by Lei Ming, both of them passionate.
The snow was extremely cold, and as soon as they set their butts down, they fell into a deep hole.
Chen You suddenly hissed in pain. Lei Ming was eating him. How else would one describe it? He actually took his blood and swallowed it into his stomach, his teeth grinding against the break in the skin as he gulped down one mouthful at a time.
It was extremely unsettling, making his hair stand on end.
At this time, Chen You suspected that Lei Ming might have eaten that alien.
Though he might not even know it himself.
When Lei Ming finally reacted, his mouth was already full of blood, the strong flavour permeating his mouth.
In a flash, Lei Ming was struck dumb. He didn’t seem to understand what was going on.
Chen You’s neck was already mutilated and bloody, it was unbearable to see. He resisted the urge to curse, “Major General?”
Helplessly, Lei Ming pulled the child into his arms. His arms forcefully encircled the boy and he trembled slightly as he spoke in a hoarse voice, “I’m sorry. I hurt you.”
“It doesn’t hurt,” Chen You lied. In fact, he wanted to cry from the pain, but he changed the subject and asked, “Major General, why did you bring me here?”
Lei Ming’s face rubbed against the boy, “This is where I grew up.”
Chen You asked, “So Major General brought me home?”
Lei Ming replied, “Yes.”
“Now that you’re alright, we’ll return to the capital star. The temperature here is too cold, you won’t get used to it.”
Don’t, ah. I’m going to leave soon. It’s unnecessary to toss about. Besides, if we go back to the capital star, we’ll have to confront your old man. It’s too troublesome. Chen You said, “I really want to look around Major General’s home planet.”
“Since we’re already here, won’t Major General take me to sight-see?”
Lei Ming stared fixedly at him, “Okay.”
Chen You was truly curious. He was looking forward to seeing Lei Ming reveal a snake’s tail at least once before he left.
He said to the system, “I’m positive that Xiao Ming and I are snakes.”
The system retorted, “Isn’t it obvious by now?”
Chen You roared, “Then at the beginning when I asked you whether I’m a snake, why did you lie and say that I’m not?”
The system countered, “You can’t tell? I was just testing you.”
“Your IQ is worrying. Keep working hard.”
Chen You pouted, So annoying, I don’t want to play with this tool anymore!
“What are you thinking about?”
The voice in his ear pulled Chen You back to reality. He scratched his face, “It’s so cold. I wonder when the sun will rise.”
Lei Ming unbuttoned his overcoat and wrapped the youth up, “It will be light soon.”
Chen You lay in the man’s embrace. It was warm, giving him a sense of security that had nothing to do with his firm chest muscles.
He felt that the man’s aura seemed different. He couldn’t pinpoint exactly what had changed, it was too difficult to put into words.
“Major General, should we make a fire?”
Lei Ming pursed his lips, “A fire will attract some things. It’s not safe.”
Chen You fell into a daze. That’s right. In those TV shows, as soon as the protagonist makes a fire, all sorts of legendary monsters from the mountains will appear, and then the protagonist will take the opportunity to show off his skills.
If there is a heroine on the scene, it is essential for something to serve as an emotional catalyst for the two people.
When you get hurt, first you’ll say you’re cold, then you’ll say you’re hot. Once you really can’t bear it, I will consequently take off my clothes and embrace you.
Yi……
Chen You was severely corrupted.
After hesitating for a moment, Chen You ultimately decided not to ask Lei Ming about matters concerning the war, afraid of bringing down the mood.
“Major General, talk to me.”
Lei Ming asked, “Talk about what?”
Chen You said, “Anything will do.” Just don’t stay silent. I’m afraid that I’ll be eaten at any moment now. I’m really scared, okay?
Lei Ming thought it over, “When we get back, I’ll bring you to see your second brother.”
Chen You internally muttered, That really isn’t important. Truly.
Lei Ming added, “Slaves can be redeemed. It’s up to you whether you want your second brother to be freed or not.”
This so-called second brother was the chief criminal responsible for a large portion of the original owner’s hardship. The original couldn’t even count how much he had suffered. He was helpless to resist and could only pray to the Heavens, hoping the other party would one day get punished.
Bad people will have bad endings.
Redeem what body, ah. Just let him live like that. Otherwise, if he was released, he would just come out and harm more people.
“Major General, to be honest,” Chen You confessed, “I don’t have a good relationship with my second brother.”
Lei Ming, who had already learned this early on, only commented, “Is that so?”
“Un.” Chen You explained, “I grew up extremely ugly, so my eldest brother and second brother always ignored me and never wanted to play with me.”
Lei Ming knit his brows, “Is that all?”
Chen You added, “There’s too much. It would take me a while to finish describing even half of their wrongs. In any case, I’m not close with him, so I don’t care about his affairs.”
Don’t blame me, legendary second brother. I borrowed your brother’s body to complete my task, so I might as well help him fulfill a wish. Don’t you think so?
After he departed, he didn’t want Lei Ming to, out of love for him and his family, free that vicious second brother and keep him by his side.
He would definitely make trouble for Lei Ming.
Once Lei Ming finished listening to the youth’s words, he stated, “Then we’ll ignore him.”
Chen You un-un.
His eyelids turned heavy and he eventually fell asleep in the hollow of Lei Ming’s shoulder.
Lei Ming stroked the child’s back as his lips rubbed against the boy’s ice-cold ears in an attempt to warm them up.
There was a wound on the side of the youth’s neck. It was still frightening to see. Lei Ming’s throat rolled and his chest tightened.
His eyes turned red as he held back the urge to get closer.
Chen You let out a sobbing sound, “Hurts…”
Lei Ming woke with a start, breathing heavily. His face struggled to conceal the expression of shock at his strange actions.
He held the child and sat, rigid from head to toe, for a long time.
Luoshenhua: Welp, here’s the first half of this monster of a final chapter! (Yep, it’s the last chapter of this arc) After translating this, I’m just left wondering whether Chen You will ultimately leave this world after getting eaten, literally. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see in the final part…
