Ch48 - How Many Pendants Do You Have?

Chen You only made it two steps forward before he was lifted off the ground by a large hand and thrown away in a parabolic curve.
He had only recently come of age and was thin and short. With this single move, he was directly flung from one end of the room to the other.
Fuck me. The handcuffs shackling his wrists ended up crashing into his lower jaw, immediately causing a burst of pain that rendered the heavens and earth asunder.
“Ai—”
Chen You wailed, his mouth full of blood. He felt like his teeth were going to fall out.
He used his tongue to feel around. None of his teeth were gone; they were all there. Luckily, everything was fine. If not, then he wouldn’t be able to eat anything.
Even if the skill granted by the system was super weak, he still wanted to see how much he’d be able to eat.
Chen You lay flat on the ground, his hands on the floor. As his body made a strenuous effort to get up, a combat boot stepped firmly on his back, exerting a considerable amount of strength.
“…”
For the first time in his life, someone had stepped on him. Chen You needed to see which son of a bitch was the culprit. He twisted his neck around and saw a pair of big, flared nostrils. Lao Zi will remember you. Sooner or later, I will return this foot to you.
Slaves are not as valuable as animals. The latter can be slaughtered for fresh meat and taste much more delicious than canned food. As for the former, other than being used as cheap labor, they are good for nothing.
Especially with a slave this ugly, one look is enough.
Lei Ming turned around, “What happened?”
The big nose immediately reported, “Major General, this wretch’s brain must be 80% water. He actually tried to attack you.”
When the man looked in his direction, Chen You kept shaking his head. I didn’t, Major General. I really didn’t do it.
Just look, I’m wearing handcuffs and the top of my head barely reaches your chest. It’s impossible for me to think about doing anything, right? I know you’re not like that big nose and those other idiots, you’ll definitely see the truth.
Lei Ming looked at the young boy on the ground, his face covered in snot and tears. He was originally horribly ugly, but now he looked like a little monster.
I’m being disliked. The target is giving me the cold-shoulder. Chen You held his breath, “System, he’s not going to hit me, is he?”
System, “Wait and see.”
Chen You, “…”
Reaching out, with the idea that it’s harder to hit a person who is smiling, he bared his teeth and grinned but, consequently, only looked even uglier.
Nobody could bear to look at him. This little thing forsaken by the heavens should just be thrown away. If he died earlier, he would be able to reincarnate into a new body earlier. For someone like him, continuing this life would only force him to suffer.
Chen You’s tears kept dripping nonstop. What the fuck, I don’t want to live like this either. The big nose’s military boot is crushing my spine. It hurts so much.
A strange atmosphere pervaded the hall. One or two people actually felt pity for the ugly wretch, thinking that his brain must have some kind of hole.
Lei Ming seemed to have important matters to attend to, so he indifferently walked towards the exit.
Chen You stared after him, eyes wide open. He’s leaving just like that? Stay a little longer! Suddenly, he was hit by a flash of inspiration and thought of a method that was equivalent to seeking death.
“I have important information!”
The hall abruptly fell silent.
This was the second time Lei Ming had stopped, extremely abnormal behavior for the major general.
Chen You felt a rush of relief. With an optimistic outlook, there was still hope for him as long as he didn’t panic.
The big nose squatted on the ground and slapped Chen You’s face, “What kind of information could you possible have?”
Fuck, Chen You cursed in his heart. You’re just some passerby. Why can’t you be quiet as a chicken? Don’t go stealing the show, okay?
Chen You stretched out a finger and pointed at Lei Ming, “I’ll only talk to him.”
Lei Ming frowned.
“Major General, this subordinate thinks that the wretch is making things up, wanting to play tricks.”
The big nose’s words were met with a unanimous agreement.
Chen You didn’t have time to be angry at all these people who spoke out against him. He anxiously called for the system, “Hurry, help me think of a way out!”
The callous and unfeeling system, “Think for yourself.”
Chen You was freaking out, “I can’t think of anything.”
The system continued to be cold-hearted, “Did you thoroughly read through all of the target’s information?”
Chen You didn’t want to think about it, “I did.”
System, “Dishonest.”
Chen You immediately admitted his mistake, “Fine, I didn’t.” Earlier, he had only casually glanced at the content displayed on the screen. In earlier worlds, he had done the same and everything worked out alright.
System, “Take a serious look.”
Chen You, a good baby, went to study and quickly found something.
Lei Father had brought Lei Ming back for adoption after completing a mission on another planet. In recent years, he had been searching for answers about his past.
Chen You couldn’t refrain from thinking back to the first world; recalling the love letter he had read gave him goosebumps. “It can’t be that you want me to pretend to be his mother and father, right?”
System, “…”
The pain on his back eased up. Chen You found that the big nose was suddenly standing off to the side. He hadn’t noticed when Lei Ming stopped in front of him.
Lei Ming’s face remained impassive as he opened his mouth, “Little kid, liars get punished.”
Chen You didn’t want to hold a conversation while he was on the ground. The position was degrading and made him feel inferior. He sat up excruciatingly slowly, shackles rattling as he spoke at a volume audible only to the target, “I have a black stone.”
Lei Ming’s pupils shrank.
The onlookers didn’t know what the little wretch said and only saw the major general’s expression turn strange.
“Major General…”
Lei Ming raised his hand, signaling for everyone else to leave the premises. He pressed the light brain on his wrist and a stone appeared on the screen, though it was merely a photograph.
Chen You promptly reacted, “The one I have is just like this.”
Lei Ming’s eyes narrowed with suspicion. Though his search for the black stone was no secret, it was unlikely that a child from a backwards planet would know about it.
When there was no reaction from the other party, Chen You hurriedly spit out all the information that the system gave him.
On Lei Ming’s neck, there hung a half-chunk of this black stone, the only thing on his person when he had been brought back for adoption. Through this clue, he hoped to find out more about his past.
The details given by the boy overlapped completely with his knowledge of the piece that was already in his possession.
Lei Ming gathered his composure, “Where?”
Chen You replied, “My home.”
Lei Ming asked, “Your purpose.”
Chen You said, “I want to follow Major General.”
He was small and weak, so he simply gave out the most believable response. “Only by following you, can my life and safety be guaranteed.”
Lei Ming coldly spoke, “Whether or not your life is safe depends on yourself, not who you follow.”
Chen You, Okay, I acknowledge that when you said those words, you were especially handsome.
The problem is, now I’m in chains, I’m a prisoner, and I’m an extremely ugly one at that. No one even wants me as a slave. You, on the other hand, are a famous major general serving in the army who can decide my life and death by simply raising a finger.
The gap between us is so wide, I’m not even qualified to attempt attacking and sustaining a mutual injury with you.
To everyone’s surprise, Chen You was sent out of the army and taken to the capital star. Once he arrived, he was immediately placed in a residence.
Lei Ming never appeared before him.
The shackles on Chen You’s hands were still in place, wearing into his skin. Though he studied them for half a day, his research showed no results.
This place, compared to the original body’s home planet, was on a completely different level. Here, all of the technology was highly sophisticated.
80% of all shackles could only be unlocked by pressing the device that people wore on their wrists. Chen You got lost in his fantasies, dreaming of the day when he’d finally be able to wear one. He thought it would feel like playing a VR game. It would definitely be very cool.
“I can’t find a mirror. Give me one.”
After Chen You begged for help, a mirror appeared before his eyes. He blinked, and the boy in the mirror blinked along with him.
Perhaps it was because he was mentally prepared, but when he finally saw his face he thought it was alright. His eyes, nose, and mouth were all in the correct position. The size of his face was average, and there were no deformities.
Just that…after taking a closer look, there was an indescribable feeling of ugliness.
Chen You truly admired Lei Ming’s ability to adapt. It was highly likely that if they had switched positions, he wouldn’t have regarded this ugly person as a human at all, but merely a thing that could talk.
With this mentality, the ugliness would be easier to endure.
Chen You felt it was of utmost importance that he firmly believe, I am not an ordinary person. I am a genius born with unique skills and talents. One of these days, I will shed my skin and become beautiful.
Whoever spits on me today will be swallowed down by me in the future.
When urinating, Chen You felt a bit awkward. His hands weren’t conveniently situated for such activities, so he could only tightly hold his twin brothers together.
The twins both had big heads and were quite heavy. After hauling them out, he would have to pause and take a breath. The picture they made was unimaginable to most ordinary people.
After Chen You pathetically emerged from the bathroom, he thought, I can’t do this. Chop it off, ba.
It’s good to be self-sufficient.
Thinking like this, a knife suddenly appeared in his hand.
Chen You, “…”
“I’m afraid of pain, can you make it not hurt?”
System, “No.”
Chen You threw the knife down. Bullshit. I’ll hang the knife up and keep it as a special weapon. If I get pissed off, I’ll use it to take revenge against society.
A few days later, two soldiers appeared. Chen You was taken to a starship, delivered to his backwoods home planet, and returned to a small house in his village.
On the road, Chen You had been thrilled, suppressing his squeals of excitement. A real starship, ah. It’s even cooler than the movies. The feeling of his heartbeat accelerating couldn’t be better. Unfortunately, once they reached their destination, he wilted.
He didn’t have time to care about the living environment at the village. Chen You panicked, “What’s that black thing? Quickly give it to me.”
System, “I don’t have it.”
Chen You nervously laughed, “Don’t make trouble.”
System, “I’m really not.”
Chen You angrily stamped his foot, “Fuck, if you don’t have it, then why did you give me all that information about it?”
System, “I want you to make your own guesses.”
“…”
Hit by the sin of ignorance once again, Chen You couldn’t imagine what Lei Ming’s reaction would be if he knew that Chen You couldn’t produce the stone and had been lying to him all along.
He would definitely be beaten to death.
Lei Ming walked over, his words brief and to the point, “Take me there.”
Chen You worried his lips. Don’t look for the stone. I’ll take you to see the ocean instead, Major General.
Lei Ming walked in front as Chen You followed behind. He fidgeted with his trousers, pulling at them. What should I do now?
It was uncertain what exactly occurred, but Lei Ming suddenly stopped and turned around to say something. Chen You was absent-minded, his head in a complete mess. One side thought it would be over in a few minutes, but the other knew the mission had failed before it even started. As Chen You inadvertently stepped on a stone, his center of gravity turned unsteady.
In a moment of desperation, Chen You waved his two arms around, dragging whatever he could reach down with him.
Caught off guard, Lei Ming’s waistband was pulled down a few inches though it remained fastened. His face turned pitch-black and he raised a foot to kick the boy away.
Chen You was kicked to one side, his expression lifeless. What the fuck. What did I just see now? Brother, you…surely it isn’t that your one is equal to two of mine?
He blurted out, “Major General, how many pendants do you have?”
Luoshenhua: Lol, as always, Chen You never stops digging holes for himself. Maybe he’ll learn to be less careless…some day…far, far, far in the future.
