As dawn broke, it strangely started to rain, a drizzle that felt unbearably oppressive.

Han Shanshan hung a badge around my neck, a serious look on her face. I guessed the Wang family’s defenses were tight.

I said to Xia Yitian, "Take a look at this."

Han Shanshan nudged me in the minivan, and I followed her gesture to look at her waist. There was a gun, indicating that Comrade Han Shanshan was also armed.

"Whatever happens, I’ll be the first to protect you." Han Shanshan chuckled ambiguously.

"Han Shanshan, are you daydreaming again?" I sneered at her, thinking to myself that I just hoped I wouldn’t have to protect her. "Look at how pale your captain is now."

Huo Dade, who was used to Han Shanshan’s behavior, awkwardly said from the front, "Xiao Han, your brother Xia is a real capable person, don’t doubt it."

"Of course, he’s just good at scaring people and extorting money."

Han Shanshan is the kind of person who has a hole in her head. She had long forgotten the incident where she was hanged in her bedroom, and even if she remembered, she would think it was just a wire.

She didn’t forget that I saved her, which means she remembered that I took a thousand yuan red envelope from her.

I ignored her and looked at the old man sitting calmly behind, feeling a chill. The old man’s aura of yin was quite strong, and I wondered how he had lived to this age, especially as a forensic doctor. Even I felt nervous around him.

"Those who need an autopsy are usually victims of wrongful death. For this old man to still be alive with such a strong yin aura is a miracle."

"This is Lin Lao, our county’s old forensic doctor. Lin Lao, this is Xia Yitian, the brother I told you about. Why don’t you two chat a bit?" Huo Dade introduced me.

"Young man, your yin aura is quite strong." Lin Feiyu’s words caught me off guard.

I smiled. I’ve been exposed to yin aura since childhood, making me particularly sensitive to it. He could see my yin aura at a glance, which made him a high-level person: "Hehe, old senior, so are you."

"Since the Ninth Princess went into hiding, my yin aura has been exposed."

"Haha, you don’t seem like someone who deals with the supernatural. You don’t even carry any tools. Do you have any other special skills?" Lin Feiyu probed.

"Old senior, I do have special skills." I thought about it and decided to be honest.

"Hmm, no wonder. What’s your relationship with that Zhao family boy?"

"Friend."

"Do you understand who the Wang family is? Do you know Wang Heng?"

"Coffin seller, Wang Heng is the head of the Wang family, right?" I recalled what Zhao Qian had told me: "The Wang family sells coffins and is also very skilled at exorcism."

"Do you still want to go, knowing this? The more powerful a person is, the less likely they are to be possessed. Who is Wang Heng? A man who specializes in funerals and is the head of the Wang family. How could he be possessed?"

"I know about the Wang family but still dare to go. Isn’t this like a lamb entering a tiger’s den?"

"I have to go." I said resolutely.

"Oh, if you don’t have anything to protect yourself, stay close to me. Your yin aura is even stronger than mine, making you more likely to attract those things." Lin Feiyu was quite understanding.

"Okay." I nodded, appreciating his consideration.

"Lin Lao, what kind of things are you talking about? Are they ghosts?" Han Shanshan asked curiously.

"Han girl, it’s none of your business. It’s better for you not to ask." Lin Feiyu said seriously.

"If you don’t want to say, fine." Han Shanshan pouted, looking like she didn’t care.

The car soon turned into the back entrance of the hospital morgue. The scene outside the morgue startled me!

In front of the morgue, a crowd of people stood, like a bustling market. Many of the younger ones had tattoos, looking like they weren’t good people.

"Mobsters! Look at the kind of people the Wang family who sell coffins keep." Huo Dade spat, glaring at a few young men blocking the way.

"No wonder they need guns. The Wang family has such a background."

"Move aside!" Han Shanshan said fiercely.

The young men didn’t want to move, but soon a burly middle-aged man pushed through the crowd, cursing as he walked over: "What, you still won’t move? Can’t you see it’s Brother Huo?"

"Wang Dong, you’ve grown bold, daring to block the back of the hospital?" Huo Dade frowned and got out of the car.

"How dare I, Brother Huo. Since my brother left, these young men have been unruly. Please don’t be angry." Wang Dong looked apologetic but didn’t mean it.

Wang Dong is Wang Heng’s younger brother. His brother is the legitimate heir to the Wang family’s coffin shop, but Wang Dong manages a group of idle people from the underworld and does some shady things, which is quite unusual.

The women and family members were crying at the morgue entrance, a black coffin blocking the way, covered in funeral paper. The flower wreaths stretched for tens of meters, creating a grand scene.

"Brother Huo, as you can see, my brother kindly provided funeral services for the Zhao family, even selecting the best coffin. But the Zhao family boy came back drunk and beat my brother to death. If you don’t help me, I’ll take matters into my own hands." Wang Dong’s words were polite but carried a threat.

Huo Dade immediately glared at Wang Dong: "You take matters into your own hands? Go ahead, I’ll lock you all up! Are you trying to make my life harder?"

"How dare I, Brother Huo. Why don’t you come in first? My father said this matter is complicated. Even if we put him in the coffin, my brother can’t leave. Something is blocking him." Wang Dong’s expression changed after saying this.

"What’s complicated? You’re just trying to confuse me." Captain Huo’s brow furrowed, fearing the worst.

"A Dong, what are you arguing with Little Huo about? Let Uncle Lin in!"

As they were arguing, a hoarse voice came from behind the crowd.

"Father." Wang Dong didn’t dare to delay, waving his hand to clear a path.

At the morgue entrance, the old man from the Wang family sat in a chair, his brows furrowed like tiger stripes. He looked at least eighty but was as strong as a young bull.

"Xiao Lin?" The old man looked at the police car.

"Brother Wang, I’m here." Lin Feiyu squeezed through the crowd, carrying an iron briefcase, showing respect to the old man.

"I knew it would be you. No one else in the bureau can do it." The old man nodded toward the morgue door.

We all looked at the entrance, and immediately we were shocked.

The door was covered in dog teeth and talismans, and the ground was stained with a thick layer of blood. I saw two dead black dogs, one with its teeth pulled and the other with its blood drained. The teeth hanging on the door were probably from the old black dog, and the blood was from a young black dog, used to ward off evil.

"Brother Wang, you’re too kind." Lin Feiyu’s cold sweat appeared on his forehead.

"I have nothing to say. We’ve known each other for a while, but I just want you to be careful." The old man sneered.

"Brother Wang, do you have anything to say to me?" Lin Feiyu’s face was calm, but his heart was racing.

"Say? We both know what the Zhao family is like. They manipulate feng shui and exorcise evil, but they can’t cast curses or control ghosts. Although a young girl from the Zhao family, Zhao Qian, knows feng shui and can exorcise evil, they can’t do such things." The old man said confidently.

"Zhao Qian, right? The Zhao family only has her who knows a bit about exorcism and feng shui."

"Right, Brother Wang, what do you mean?" Lin Feiyu asked cautiously.

"What do I mean? Since the Zhao family doesn’t know how to exorcise, they should stay away and let someone who knows handle it! How dare they ruin my son’s life! Do they want to reduce the four major families to three! Do they think they can just walk into my territory? Can they control it!" The old man’s face turned red, and he stood up suddenly!

The dozen or so young men around him immediately touched their steel pipes and blunt objects.

Huo Dade and the other detectives were scared by the old man’s stance and took a step back, even Han Shanshan put her hand on her waist!

Lin Feiyu’s face turned slightly pale, and he sighed: "Brother Wang, when saving someone, you can’t consider so much. Zhao Qian was in a life-threatening situation, and the Zhao family boy had to act harshly. He didn’t know that Ah Heng was possessed. It’s the person who cast the curse who should be blamed. Why are you angry at me? In the past, I was just a forensic doctor, not someone who could control the situation. I just clean up after."

"Hahahaha, Xiao Lin, you’re right, well said. But don’t underestimate me, Brother Wang. I’m not so confused as to mix up relationships."

The old man’s eyes, which had been fixed on Lin Feiyu, slowly turned to me, his brows furrowed: "You’re here for the Zhao family’s little girl, right? I want to see what you can do! Can you withstand the wrath of the Wang family! Can you protect her Zhao family!"

The hooligans around me all looked at me, following the old man’s gaze. I frowned, feeling a chill. It seemed the old man already knew about my relationship with Zhao Qian, which made sense since I spent the whole day with her at the Zhao family’s village yesterday. Her reputation made it hard for me to remain unknown.

"You’ve exposed me to the light, even in this drizzle. You’re comfortable, but I’m not."

"Old man Wang, I don’t understand your family’s affairs and don’t want to get involved. Since the situation has taken a bad turn and can’t be resolved, let your families fight it out. Even if the four major families are reduced to three, it’s none of my business. However, Zhao He and Zhao Qian are my good friends. If anything happens to them, I feel I need to protect them. Old man Wang, do you think this is reasonable?" I stared at the old man, my face expressionless.
