Qin Feng helplessly welcomed his first overtime after rebirth. That night, he was only allowed to leave when it was almost 8 PM. Of course, given the hotel's nature, this couldn't be considered overtime; at most, it was a delayed end to his shift. The next morning, as soon as Qin Feng arrived at the hotel, he received a formal overtime notice.
Due to the large number of guests, Manager Wang, considering the shortage of waitstaff, summoned all the kitchen helpers, including Qin Feng, who were somewhat useful and had decent appearances, to the banquet hall.
When guests dine at the hotel, various issues are bound to arise. Qin Feng's role tonight was similar to that of a tour guide, but for dining.
To play this role perfectly, Qin Feng, for the first time, toured the entire hotel inside and out. Before the wedding banquet officially began in the evening, Qin Feng had already figured out small details like which restroom had a stronger smell.
As night fell, Qin Feng changed into a small suit for the waitstaff early and stood in front of the glass, finding himself quite presentable. He had to admit that although the woman who gave birth to him was unreliable in many ways, she had still passed on some good genes. Qin Feng resembled his mother, with a delicate but not effeminate appearance. This had given him a good rapport with women in his previous life, but unfortunately, both of his beautiful girlfriends broke up with him because he couldn't afford a house.
Qin Feng shook his head in front of the mirror, shaking off these unpleasant memories.
No matter what, he probably wouldn't encounter them in this life, and even if he did, he would pretend not to know them. Besides, if they met him, they really wouldn't recognize him.
Thinking this, Qin Feng couldn't help but smile.
"Hey, handsome, stop being so self-absorbed!" A figure suddenly appeared in the glass, and Qin Feng turned to see the waitress who had been scolded by Manager Wang yesterday.
Qin Feng smiled slightly and said, "It's you."
"Who's 'it's you'? Do you even know who I am?"
"I know, but I don't know your name."
The waitress chuckled and said, "You're quite smooth for your age. You must have caused a lot of trouble for the girls in your school, right?"
"What do you mean by 'trouble'? If there was any, it was a pure relationship," Qin Feng said with a smile.
The waitress laughed, giggling a few times, and said, "Can a relationship be described as pure?"
Qin Feng shrugged, "That depends on whether your thoughts are pure."
Just as he was speaking, Manager Wang appeared from the corner like a ghost. The waitress, seeing him, quickly said, "I'll go first. By the way, my name is Chunxiao. Call me Sister Chunxiao, okay?"
Qin Feng nodded and stood there, waiting for Manager Wang to approach.
Manager Wang walked up to Qin Feng, his eyes still fixed on Chunxiao's back. He continued staring at the air for two seconds after she turned the corner before turning to Qin Feng and saying, "You're still young. The most important thing right now is work, understand?"
Qin Feng nodded cooperatively.
Manager Wang was satisfied. He reached out to adjust Qin Feng's collar, which didn't need adjusting, with a face that seemed to say, "I actually like men," and praised, "You look completely different in this outfit. I think you should go back to school."
Qin Feng grinned and said, "Working here is pretty good too."
"Ah..." Manager Wang sighed, put his hand down, and shook his head, sighing, "You think it's good now, but when you get older, you'll realize the pain of having no education..."
After giving special instructions to Qin Feng, Manager Wang, along with three other waitstaff, left the private room.
Taking advantage of the half hour before the evening wedding banquet, Qin Feng went to have dinner. After dinner, the wedding banquet began.
Today's wedding banquet wasn't particularly grand, but the groom's family had certainly spent a lot. Each table cost 3000 yuan, and there were 50 tables, totaling 150,000 yuan just for the meal. Even for the urban middle class, it would take nearly a year to earn that much. Considering the accompanying house, car, dowry, and wedding candy, the total cost would be at least 2 million yuan. And this was only 2003!
"Human beings are indeed animals. For the sake of passing on their lineage, they're almost willing to risk their lives," Qin Feng thought, feeling a bit afraid. If he still couldn't get married in this life because of a lack of money, he should be struck by lightning, right?
The wedding banquet started at 7 PM and lasted until nearly 9:30 PM.
Qin Feng helped the guests open red wine and fetch bowls and chopsticks, not exactly busy but not idle either.
After the banquet, Qin Feng had to help clean up the hall. By the time he finished, it was almost midnight.
However, Qin Feng couldn't leave yet because it was his official night shift, so he had to wait until the hotel officially closed. The good news was that he could rest the next day.
Qin Feng thought Manager Wang was particularly cunning. If he rested the next day, his overtime pay would be averaged out, making this night's work essentially unpaid.
However, Qin Feng actually wanted to rest. Even if his body could handle it, his mind couldn't.
After cleaning up the hall, which had been thoroughly messed up, Qin Feng received a new task.
He hurried back to the kitchen, picked up a dish called "Three Ways of Lobster," and delivered it to a private room not far from the wedding hall.
Pushing open the door, the room was filled with smoke, like a temple on New Year's Day. Four drunk men were laughing and boasting, their words slurred, talking about billions and billions, making Qin Feng's mouth twitch.
Qin Feng placed the lobster on the table and was about to leave when he was stopped.
"Don't go yet, I have a question for you. If you answer well, I'll ask your boss to give you a raise!" The one who seemed the most drunk pointed at Qin Feng with a cigarette in his hand.
Another slightly more sober middle-aged man immediately said, "Brother, you're mistaken. This kid is just a waiter. He doesn't know anything!"
"Nonsense!" The drunk man waved his hand, his eyes unfocused, "I just heard a professor from Dongou University say that sometimes, the more inexperienced someone is, the better ideas they can come up with. Why? Because their thinking isn't constrained by rules!"
Seeing that all four of them were completely drunk, Qin Feng happily interjected, "The professor is right, I think so too."
The four drunkards couldn't help but laugh.
"Old Three, listen to this. These kids are so slick!" The drunk man took another puff of his cigarette and asked Qin Feng, "Kid, I ask you, what do you think will be the most profitable thing in ten years?"
Qin Feng smiled slightly and said a word that left everyone in the room puzzled: "E-commerce."
