Zhong Qi and several of his younger brothers had all learned kung fu at a modern boxing gym in Wan Chai. They were not considered the tough guys in the underworld, but rather a group of people who had become close friends while learning kung fu. After three months of training, they had gained an advantage in street fights against the local thugs, which boosted their confidence. Zhong Qi, with even greater determination, led four of his brothers to venture into Kowloon Walled City, eager to experience the underground fighting ring. However, it was not possible to step onto the ring immediately upon entering the city. Even if one was not afraid of death, the ring organizers would not arrange a match for someone whose skills were unknown. They had to be scheduled and were specifically paired with a few others who had also learned martial arts for a week of sparring. Zhong Qi and his brothers performed well, defeating their opponents each time, which finally earned them the approval of the underground fight boss to participate in the matches.
However, to get a match, one needed to have a sponsor. In other words, a wealthy person had to be willing to pay for you to fight. If no one sponsored you, you would have to wait in line. Zhong Qi and his younger brothers were unknown, so naturally, no wealthy person would pay for them to fight. Therefore, during the waiting period, Zhong Qi also took on the job of running errands and placing bets for others, taking a cut of the profits. Deng Jiayong, also known as Deng Zhiyong, specialized in this job in the Walled City. Most of the time, he could only earn ten to twenty dollars, but today, Deng Jiayong had a stroke of luck. Big Brother Qiang, who usually attended the fights, could not make it today and asked someone to place bets for him. Zhong Qi thought that since he and his brothers were close to Big Brother Qiang, they would be the first choice to place the bets. However, to his surprise, Big Brother Qiang called the Walled City and asked Zhegu Yong to place the bets. Even more surprisingly, Big Brother Qiang bet 100,000 dollars, and Zhegu Yong managed to win 70,000. Deng Jiayong earned a thousand dollars in commission, which naturally infuriated Zhong Qi, who had already been annoyed with Zhegu Yong. Relying on his martial arts skills, Zhong Qi found out Zhegu Yong's background and located the martial arts school in the Da Keng Village shantytown, where he demanded money from Zhegu Yong. Earning a thousand Hong Kong dollars in a day, whether in the Walled City or Da Keng Village, was a significant amount.
Zhong Qi was confident that he and his brothers could defeat Zhegu Yong and the others at the martial arts school. Initially, everything went as Zhong Qi had hoped. Apart from Zhegu Yong, the school only had some young boys, the oldest being around fifteen or sixteen, who were easily dealt with. However, he did not expect that at the last moment, a man named Huo Dongjun would appear and defeat his brother who had learned Thai boxing with just a few punches and kicks! Huo Dongjun even boldly told them to all lie down, as if he were Huang Feihong in a long robe.
Zhong Qi's steps did not stop, and he adjusted his stance, moving around Huo Dongjun. Huo Dongjun, lacking the demeanor of a master, rubbed his eyes. Seizing the opportunity, Zhong Qi delivered a fast side kick to Huo Dongjun's head, accompanied by the characteristic shout of Jeet Kune Do, looking quite professional.
"Bruce Lee could kick people, but that doesn't mean everyone who learns Jeet Kune Do becomes Bruce Lee. Next!" Huo Dongjun, without moving his body, dodged the kick by turning his head and said.
As he said "next," Huo Dongjun stepped forward with a left lunge, quickly moving to Zhong Qi, who had not yet retracted his leg. He struck with both hands, delivering a series of three strikes from the Cai Li Fo Wulun Chui style, hitting Zhong Qi's left cheek, right waist, and abdomen in quick succession.
Before Zhong Qi could feel the pain, Huo Dongjun had already delivered a powerful elbow strike to his chest, sending him flying and crashing to the ground with a闷响 (muffled sound).
This was already Huo Dongjun showing mercy; otherwise, the strike would have directly destroyed Zhong Qi's lower body.
Zhong Qi struggled to get up, clutching his chest and spitting out a mouthful of blood, his body hunched in fear as he looked at Huo Dongjun. When he was teaching Deng Zhiyong and the other apprentices, his leg techniques had been very effective, so why were they useless against this guy?
Isn't Cai Li Fo just a bunch of fancy moves?
Seeing their leader being easily defeated, Zhong Qi's three younger brothers exchanged glances and attacked simultaneously. As they thought Huo Dongjun was intimidated by their combined attack, he took a half-step back. Then, he suddenly leaped forward, delivering a left hook to the head of the middle attacker. The attacker instinctively tried to block, but Huo Dongjun's right hand, shaped like a tiger claw, grabbed his neck. As he exerted force with his fingers, he retracted his left hand and kicked the knee joint of another attacker with his right leg.
With a "snap," the attacker's right leg seemed to break, and he fell to the ground.
The last of Zhong Qi's younger brothers, seeing his two companions quickly subdued, instinctively tried to escape through the martial arts school's door. Huo Dongjun, still holding the neck of the middle attacker, used his body as a pivot, his black long robe billowing like a black banner. He kicked the back of the escaping attacker, sending him stumbling forward and falling to the ground just as he was about to run out the door.
Huo Dongjun released the attacker, who clutched his throat, now marked with five red finger prints, making it difficult to breathe. His chest heaved as he gasped for air. Huo Dongjun let the hem of his long robe fall and helped Deng Zhiyong, who had already sat up, to his feet. Deng Zhiyong, seeing Huo Dongjun's gentle demeanor, rubbed his waist and abdomen, complaining:
"Third Master, I was beaten, and you just lightly punished them? Break their legs!"
Huo Dongjun felt Deng Zhiyong's ribs, finding no serious injuries, and then helped the other apprentices up. Chen Zhiwei and the others, being younger, had not been hit as hard and were not injured.
"Uncle Fei, these are the ones who attacked us while our master was on the mainland visiting his teacher," Xia Rong said, leading a police officer into the room and pointing at Zhong Qi and his group.
The police officer, in his forties with a weathered face, sighed and shook his head at Huo Dongjun, who was smiling at him:
"Still smiling, Xia Rong said someone was attacking the school, and I knew it would be you again."
"Sorry to trouble you, Uncle Fei," Huo Dongjun said apologetically. "I didn't want to make you come so late, but I have no choice. How about I sneak some of my master's snake wine to show my gratitude?"
As Uncle Fei walked toward Zhong Qi, he waved his hand: "I appreciate it, but I have no interest in Lame Qing's snake wine. I want to live longer and don't want to end up in the police cemetery because of kidney failure."
"Hey! Are you okay? Do you need an ambulance?" Uncle Fei squatted down, patting Zhong Qi's face, his tone unfriendly. "Daring to cause trouble in Da Keng Village? Do you know what this place is called?"
Zhong Qi, holding his left cheek and abdomen, curled up on the cold floor, replied weakly: "What is it called?"
"It's called Pig Pen City! Outsiders call it Little Dragon City. Did you notice that there were no thugs on the streets when you came here?" Uncle Fei asked sternly.
Zhong Qi recalled that after arriving in Da Keng Village, he had indeed not seen any thugs or fly girls. The entire street was filled with uncles and aunties, which was unusual for a place like Da Keng Village.
Seeing Zhong Qi's confused expression, Uncle Fei explained: "Because this place is home to many big circles from mainland China. You came here to cause trouble? Do you want to die? Do you want me to pretend I didn't see you and let you continue to act tough? It's getting dark, so you can play as much as you want."
With that, Uncle Fei stood up, put on his hat, and prepared to leave.
Hearing the mention of "big circles," Zhong Qi was frightened and sat up, grabbing Uncle Fei's leg: "Sir, take me with you! I came here for the first time, I really didn't know!"
Joking, if he knew this place was full of big circles, Zhong Qi would have been crazy to stay. Now, everyone knew that the most dangerous people in Hong Kong were the big circle members. Even the big bosses in the underworld and the Kowloon Walled City were wary of the big circle members who had appeared in Hong Kong in recent years. These people were unreasonable, and if anything happened...
Uncle Fei kicked Zhong Qi's hand away, turned to Zhong Qi and his group, and winked at Huo Dongjun: "Alright, I'll take these cowards who are scared of the big circles to the police station for processing. I won't disturb your meal. I'll take the statements tomorrow when I patrol. Let's go."
"Thanks, Uncle Fei."
"Thank you, Uncle Fei!"
"Take care, Uncle Fei!"
Huo Dongjun led his apprentices to see Uncle Fei out of the martial arts school. Zhong Qi and his group, without waiting for Uncle Fei to speak, supported each other and followed him, afraid that he would leave them behind.
After Uncle Fei left with the group, Huo Dongjun turned back to the martial arts school, looking at Deng Zhiyong, who was still rubbing his waist and abdomen, and said to Chen Zhiwei: "Take the apprentices to set up the tables for dinner. I'll help your Fourth Master apply medicine."
Chen Zhiwei and Xia Rong ran to the kitchen to get the tables and chairs, while Deng Zhiyong looked at Huo Dongjun's long robe: "Third Master, why are you wearing a long robe? But you look very cool, like a handsome guy."
Huo Dongjun turned to close the door of the martial arts school, latching it as he said: "Do you think I want to? The master said that the clinic is a place for doctors, and one must wear a long robe when sitting in the clinic. It's so hot, I feel like I'm peeing boiling water! The master won't be back for at least half a month, and I'll definitely get heat sores."
Deng Zhiyong, rubbing his abdomen, followed Huo Dongjun into the martial arts school, laughing: "You can wear the long robe without the shirt! It would be much cooler, and you can just lift the robe when you need to pee, no need to unbutton your pants, and the aunties in the village who drool over you would be happy."
