Today's deal could guarantee half a year’s good life for the coachman, but it was still not enough to marry a wife. He had to work harder in the Fengtian Academy; maybe within half a year, he could be rich.
Ha ha ha! The coachman wiped his mouth with his sleeves when he was thinking of the bright future and grinned. He felt warmer and more awake after he gulped down a few mouthfuls of wine to refresh himself. He kept driving the carriage around.
Libao had enough rest in the space when they strolled around. Ye Lan had upgraded again, so he shared the benefit as well. He felt so satisfied as if he had licked honey. His injury got better and his power had huge progress.
He came out of the space carefully when he couldn't hear anything from Ye Lan. He saw Ye Lan sleeping so soundly and having no sign of waking up at all. She had no idea where she was now. "What a stupid woman! How can she fall asleep like this? She's not afraid of being sold to others." Libao criticized Ye Lan, but he couldn't help taking out a cloak from his private coffer to cover her up. Though it was almost summer, it was still pretty cold at night. Ye Lan slept on the beautiful but unpractical carriage and curled up her body slightly due to the coldness, but she still slept so well.
Libao looked at Ye Lan helplessly and wanted to wake her up when he raised his hand. But he stopped after a second thought, "Forget about it!" He shook his head with a smile. He thought to himself that it was a good thing to sleep well. So, he decided to leave her alone and let her enjoy her sleep.
Libao turned into a man with the help of the amulet in his hand. His face looked so handsome. He pulled the curtain aside with his long fingers, and used his fan to pat the coachman who was driving. "Hey, dude. Why are you here?" Libao asked in such a friendly way that strangers would assume that he knew the coachman.
The coachman was stunned and he replied without thinking, "Mr. Ming asked me to take this lady home. What about you?" "Me? I took her home." Libao looked at the coachman and replied when he tried to hold her laugh back.
When the coachman realized what Libao meant, he showed a frightened face. With eyes on the road, he still turned around to look at Libao crouching in the carriage and Ye Lan who slept so soundly behind Libao. Who was this guy? How could he get on the carriage? "Hey, who are you! Where did you come from?" Was he an assassin? The coachman was so frightened and swallowed when he thought of this. Libao understood why the coachman was so scared It was indeed a bit frightening for him to come out of nowhere. But he was amused by the coachman’s wild guess.
Libao took over the coachman's whip and smiled at him. "I'm not an assassin, but I don't need you now. Go."
"Hey! Where should I go? I have to take this lady home." The coachman looked at Libao and asked him confusedly. Ye Lan was sleeping so soundly and had no idea of what happened in real life. Libao turned around to Ye Lan and smiled gently, "My master is asleep and I'll drive. You can go home!"
"How can I go home?" The coachman asked stupidly but he felt himself becoming light and flew away the next second before he realized.
"Just go home like this." Libao suddenly kicked the coachman out as if he were a ball. "Ahhhhh!" The coachman screamed and flew to the haystack next to him. The haystack picked by Libao was soft and comfortable, so the coachman didn't get hurt. Libao threw out a huge bag of gems and it landed by the coachman’s head. The coachman hid from it subconsciously, rolled over and sat on his knees. Then he slowly picked up the gems. He opened the bag of unidentified objects confusedly, only to find a bagful of gems. The lights of gems shone so brightly. The coachman was surprised; he knew that, in the imperial capital, the gems were most valuable. Even a low-quality gem worth ten gold coins, let alone the good gems given by Libao. A gem like this could be traded for one thousand gold coins. The coachman felt his life was bright. He became rich! He forgot about his horse and carriage. With the gold coins given by Ming Qingyu and the gems by Libao, why would he still want his horse and carriage back? What he had lost was not tenth the price of what he had gained.
The coachman was so happy and he waved his hand to show his gratitude to the moving carriage.
"Goodbye! Thank you, sir! Thank you, lady!"
Libao shook his head happily but didn't give an answer. These things were merely a heap of stones for him. He had countless of them. But they were precious coins to the mortals in this world. So, the things in this world were hard to say. Libao drove the carriage away carefully.
They two left here quickly. The coachman carried the large bag of gems home. And he lived a happy life ever since.
As for Ye Lan, she slept so soundly and didn't know what happened. Libao drove the carriage back to the Fallen Angels.
Ye Lan only knew that she was too safe to pay attention to anything, so she didn't bother. She just wanted to go to bed when she felt tired but she still had to deal with other stuff. In her dream, there would be Xiao Hei and his yummy peach blossom porridge.
Ye Lan returned to Fallen Angels happily with satisfaction. She didn't even know she was carried to her room by Libao.
Libao stopped the carriage at the back door of the Fallen Angels. Now the front door was so crowded. Libao checked the back door and felt so annoyed. Why were there so many people? Ah! There was no choice. Libao rolled his eyes and drove the carriage to the other side of the high wall. It was great that there was no one. Libao pulled the curtain aside and looked at Ye Lan who was still asleep. He shook his head, but didn’t wake Ye Lan up.
It was so quiet here. But the front door of the Fallen Angels was insanely crowded. The surroundings were illuminated by the colorful lights all over the place as if it were at the daytime. Though the girls' giggles could be heard constantly, they were not allowed to stand beside the street by Dan Niang in case they would damage the Fallen Angels' images. All the girls wore gorgeous and most fashionable clothes, so that they almost led the women's fashion trend in the imperial capital. Ladies from the upper class had to do something when they saw their husbands linger in this place. No matter what happened in the future, trying peaceful means before resorting to force was necessary.
If you wanted to win a man's heart, you would have to win his stomach first. Unfortunately, they wanted not only to eat, but also to watch as well. Food and sex were part of human nature.
So those ladies thought of dressing themselves up, so as to be more attractive. They sent a servant to the Fallen Angels in secret to draw what the girls wore, so they could let tailor remake the clothes.
But Ye Lan's jewelry store was not useless. So even if you used the best materials and jewelries to make those clothes, a small detail could make them less pretty than those worn by the girls.
So, they would inquire where the girls purchased their clothes from and they would naturally find the Jinxiu Jewelry. Then the Jinxiu Jewelry would be popular. She believed that once those women entered her shop, they couldn't easily leave. There was no woman who disliked clothes, bags or makeups. In this era, women had no habit of carrying a bag with them when they went out. Besides, they had their maidservants around, so they could only carry a dressing case. But even if the cases were so exquisite, they would be really big, heavy and inconvenient. Ye Lan had found the huge profits in this field and wouldn't let go of this profit easily.
By the time the women got the outfits that they ordered, the girls had already changed their style. So, they had to adjust to the trend of the next season.
In the end, the new clothes from every season could become something ladies crave for, so as to show their superiority over others. That would be fun. Ye Lan would give a few prominent but showy ladies the latest clothes before they were put into the market, and then the whole imperial capital would go crazy.
Ye Lan was satisfied with her plan.
The back door was decorated nicely. Several servants served here and even Old Cheng guarded here. Dan Niang guarded the front door and Old Cheng guarded the back door. This arrangement made Ye Lan at ease. They couldn't be fooled easily.
There was a big lantern hanging at the back door. In order to keep it lowkey, Ye Lan decided to buy off the whole street and let it become her own business slowly. But there was just a start and the real move hadn't come.
In order not to wake up Ye Lan, Libao drove to the back door. But the back door was full of luxurious carriages as well.
The front door was for every custom, but the back door was only for regular customers with girls they had been familiar with. The customers could enter the girls' gardens from the back door. Dan Niang and Old Cheng's business acumen could be seen from this case. Both of them were extremely shrewd.
Libao thought of entering from another place, so he drove the carriage to the high wall at the backyard. The horse stopped automatically. Its hoofs touched the ground liquidly. It shook its head, made a noise from its nose and then stopped. Libao was about to whip, but he saw the wall when he looked up. He suddenly had a new idea. He was not a human, so he did not have to walk. He could fly. He patted his head, thinking he was as stupid as a bear. He turned around, pulled aside the curtain and held Ye Lan out with his long arms without hesitation when he thought of it. Ye Lan was still asleep, so Libao could do whatever he wanted.
Libao held Ye Lan and jumped over the wall with his toes touching the ground lightly. The yard was so lively. The fair Hei was awesome! (Libao thought Ye Lan calling him Xiao Hei was not a wise choice. Xiao Hei’s skin was actually so fair. So, he nicknamed Xiao Hei the fair Hei!) He had no idea of where Xiao Hei find talents like Old Cheng and Dan Niang. Libao tilted his head and made a comment. No wonder Xiao Hei worked under Ye Lan! He was similar to her.
