Red rose petals floating above the water, Ye Lan splashed the water around her fair skin once in a while as she was taking the bath and leaning on the bucket idly.

Lovely as the lotus, she looked like a charming fairy as she was shrouded in the mist.

All of a sudden, Ye Lan stopped and her eyes sharpened, since she smelled something different among the strong fragrance of flowers—smell of blood.

She watched her surroundings vigilantly.

It was weirdly tranquil inside the room, with some occasional splutters of the candle. The cold wind came in through seamless windows, causing the beaded curtain swinging and jingling.

Ye Lan had all of the sound in her ears.

“Ding-dong…”

There were drops of liquid falling on the water from the beam and ripples of red were formed.

This was… blood!

Ye Lan looked up with her eyes wide open; another drop of blood dropped—someone’s on the rooftop!

She flew all the way up, tearing down a piece of sheer curtain to wrap herself up, leaped out of the window after putting on a white fox fur coat and finally landed on the rooftop after moving alongside the column on the porch.

She did all the clean moves like lightning. The men in black didn’t even have time to react.

“Who are you? Why are you here?”

Ye Lan shot him a sharp look, her voice piercing cold. The man in black was shocked to see such a little girl with an imposing character and full of boldness.

He held his breath and tried to slash at Ye Lan while Ye managed to avoid the powerful cut and landed three meters away from him.

Ye’s white fox fur coat was caught by the tip of the sword and broke into two pieces.

The chilly wind kept blowing and only half piece of the sheer curtain was left on her to cover her body, the front of the gauze swinging. Her exposed skin was as white as the snow at night.

The man in black hurried to cover his eyes and whispered to himself, “See no evil! see no evil…”

Ye Lan, however, wasn’t feeling embarrassed at all and thought it was funny to see the person in the ancient times being such a nerd.

She half closed her eyes and lowered her body, kicked out pieces of grey tiles when she found the chance. The tiles were rushing towards the man like darts.

This time, the man had a quick reaction and kept off the tiles with his rolling sleeves. With the tiles shattered into pieces, he flew again and ran outside of the peach forest.

“Stop there!”

Ye Lan soon caught up and fought with him as they found it hard to beat one another.

“You can’t get away as you are injured!”

The man remained in silence and let out the sound of hum as if he was mocking Ye Lan’s being overconfident. He kept waving his wrist, his sword flipping in his hands, causing some dazzling move and forced Ye Lan to back up.

However, the man had no intention to keep engaging in the fight and moved back after making some moves.

Ye Lan cast a cold look at his fading figure; a smile appeared around the corner of her lips. The man in black made his escape but couldn’t make any further out of blue. He tried to get up while his body was fastened to the ground, shivering.

Ye Lan landed in front of the man.

“You… fooled me!” The man looked at her, grinding his teeth and then pulled a silver needle out of his Quchi acupoint.

Ye Lan ignored him and tied the man on the column of the building and pulled off his mask, seeing a pretty and clean face.

Under the faint light of the candle inside the room, the man’s profile seemed to be tough and full of stubbornness and pride. A murderous look was obvious hidden under his thick eyelash and in his bright eyes.

After a moment of staring at Ye Lan, he found that she was dressed poorly and his behavior out of etiquette. He then blinked his eyes awkwardly and lowered his head.

Ye Lan on the other hand, sneered as she noticed the flush on the man’s cheeks while approaching him.

Suddenly she leaned forward towards the man, “You better answer whatever I ask, otherwise…”

“Otherwise what?” The man’s eyes met Ye’s eyes motionlessly, “Kill me or slice me, whatever you like!”

As they were close to each other, a special female body odor lingered around the man’s nose. He cast a short look at her white neck and soon turned his head around.

His cheeks flushed even redder.

Ye Lan then kept herself steps away from the man and started to look at him up and down. She found him being so timid and cute like a little mischievous boy.

A faint smile on her face, she pursed her lips and said, “Interesting!”

“Still play tough while in my hand, huh?”

“Only because I was injured, or I will never be defeated by a stage-three spiritual cultivator.”

Ye Lan scoffed, “Just admit it, being defeated is being defeated!”

The man in black still kept silent, acting like he didn’t want to argue with Ye Lan.

“You are from the Ye family?”

The man knew the worth of his words and said nothing.

Ye Lan wasn’t annoyed, but sneered and said provocatively to him, “Look at you, dressed like a decent man, only to find yourself a filthy hypocrite.”

“Shut up, stop slandering me!”

“Really? Did I slander you?” Ye Lan leaned even closer; her breath smelled like orchid, “Then who was the person peeping at me from the rooftop while I was having a bath?”

The man found himself speechless, his cheeks, though pale after losing too much blood, flushed again all over, he was annoyed and said, “I don’t know you were in a bath, I apologize.”

He took a lot of effort uttering with his face utterly pale. If he were an average man, he wouldn’t make it till this moment while being severely injured.

With the misunderstanding between the two gone, the atmosphere in the room seemed to soften a bit.

Ye Lan felt it was urgent to heal his wound.

“You are severely hurt. I will take care of your wound first.”

She turned around to fetch her sewing kit while a cold grunt came from her back, “This small injury won’t kill me.”

Ye Lan held her steps and then bypassed the table as she moved forward to get her sewing kit out.

“Even though it is a minor injure, it could go worse if infected.” Ye Lan helped the man lie on the bed after untying him, “If you get infected by tetanus, you can die within a night.”

“What is tetanus? What is infection?”

After a whoosh, Ye Lan realized that she was in the ancient times and nobody here knew anything about the modern medicine. She prevaricated this by talking some nonsense.

The man, however, was lost in staring at Ye Lan, he found her face exceedingly beautiful, the curve being so tender and soft while her eyes being icy cold.

She was helping him, one stitch after another, trying to stitch the wound with exposed bones. She was like a Merciful Goddess at this moment, but the coldness inside her made people think she was a Shura from hell.

“What’s your relation with the Ye family?”

“I am a daughter of a concubine.”

“Daughter of a concubine?” The man shook his head feebly, “I don’t think so, judging from your manners and spiritual power, you should be a daughter of the master’s wife.”

Ye Lan sneered at this, but continued to wipe the bloodstain on the man speechlessly.

“Nevertheless, how come a daughter of the master’s wife is doing things like taking care of the wound? This should be done by the servants… that’s so weird…” The man mumbled about until Ye Lan realized he had a high fever.

She searched along the man’s arm and found out that the tendons and vessels at his elbow had been torn apart and there was fluid coming out from the joints, causing an inflammation.

A high fever must be relived until the inflammation was diminished.

Nevertheless, where could she get the medicine to bring down his fever and inflammation in the Fengtian Continent?

Ye Lan looked up outside, the heavy snow was now falling again.

The next morning, a ray of the sun slanted into the peach blossom residence.

A high heap of snow stirred under the peach tree.

The man woke up and cleared the snow on his face, only to realize over half of his body was now buried under the snow.

The woman buried him alive?

He moved his neck and saw Ye Lan in her white fox fur coat sleeping in the snow as soon as he tilted his head.

Did she keep me company the whole night? The man’s heart palpitated out of blue.

Sensing the man’s look, Ye Lan immediately opened her eyes. The morning light filled in the man’s eyes are now blurred by her bright eyes, shining out the coldness.

“You are up?” Ye Lan helped the man up and shook the snow out, “Let me see your wound.”

The man quickly fended her hand off and kept some distance deliberately and then turned around to see the heap of snow.

Ye Lan could see that he was displeased and said, “So you are angry that I buried you deep in the snow?”

“You had a high fever last night and the snow can cool you down.”

The man kept being quiet and arrogant.

Ye Lan didn’t cast a further look at the man and walked inside the room, “As you are fine now, you may leave as you want.”

She pointed the peach forest and said, “Follow this track, you will see a fence and you will be on the main road after you cross it.”

Ye Lan stood outside the door and pushed the door open.

The sun light came from outside and cast a long shadow of her weak body on the ground. The halo slanted, accompanied by the flying dust of snow. Her lone shadow was now livened up by another tall figure emerging from the back.

She made a quick turn and pointed the man in the back with her sword.
