Chapter 15: Miyamoto's Sincerity

Fang Mingyuan and the other two returned home with a belly full of anger. Fang Ya and his wife had already prepared the meal, but there was one more person in the house—Miyamoto Shuichi.

"Did you bring the person back?" Fang Ya asked casually when he heard Fang Bin enter.

He turned his head and, seeing the gloomy expressions on their faces, asked in surprise, "What's wrong? What happened?"

"Forget it, it's infuriating! Those despicable... " Fang Bin then noticed Miyamoto Shuichi sitting to the side and swallowed the rest of his words.

"Hey, Mr. Miyamoto, why are you here?" Su Aijun also saw Miyamoto Shuichi and asked in surprise. He hadn't told Miyamoto Shuichi where Fang Ya lived, so how did he find his way here?

"Mr. Su, I found out from your wife where you live. I came unannounced and disturbed everyone, I'm truly sorry!" Miyamoto Shuichi stood up and bowed. After Fang Mingyuan and the others left, Miyamoto Shuichi was restless in the hotel. Finally, he decided to come directly to Fang Ya's house. Fortunately, he spoke Chinese, so he didn't get lost along the way.

"Since you're here, Mr. Miyamoto, let's eat together." Su Aijun didn't mind and invited him. He was already very hungry, and if not for the anger, his stomach would have rebelled long ago.

"In that case, I won't be polite, I'm sorry for the disturbance!" Miyamoto Shuichi bowed again.

Because of Su Aijun and Miyamoto Shuichi's arrival, Fang Ya and his wife prepared six dishes and a soup, filling the table. Although they were all home-cooked dishes, in 1988, this was already quite a feast.

"Fang Bin, Mingyuan, what happened? Did something go wrong when you went to pick someone up?" Fang Ya's wife asked curiously.

"Hmph! Don't even mention it, it just makes me angry!" Fang Bin said irritably, "I finally understand what real traitors look like."

"Traitors?" Fang Ya, his wife, and Miyamoto Shuichi were all puzzled. How did this suddenly involve traitors?

"Let's talk about it later, let's eat first, we're starving!" Su Aijun gave Fang Ya a look, indicating that Miyamoto Shuichi was still there and it wasn't convenient to talk. Fang Ya understood and pulled his wife away, and they didn't ask any more questions.

Miyamoto Shuichi looked at Su Aijun, Fang Mingyuan, and Fang Bin with a hint of understanding. Su Aijun and Fang Mingyuan had adjusted their attitudes when they saw Miyamoto Shuichi, not showing much on their faces, but Fang Bin still looked somewhat indignant. Miyamoto Shuichi already had a good idea of what had happened. It seemed that something unpleasant had occurred when they went to pick someone up in the afternoon. This was undoubtedly good news for him. He just didn't know if it was the content of the contract that displeased them or the attitude of the person they met. If he could address the issue directly, his chances of success would increase.

Due to the unpleasant mood of Su Aijun and the others, no one mentioned the wine that Fang Ya had prepared. After the meal, Fang Ya and his wife took Fang Bin to clean up the dishes, while Fang Mingyuan led Su Aijun and Miyamoto Shuichi to another room.

"Mr. Fang, Mr. Su, I came unannounced and received such a generous welcome, I am truly grateful," Miyamoto Shuichi smiled. "I couldn't wait to discuss the details of the contract with Mr. Fang, so I had to resort to this. I hope you can forgive me. Can we take a moment now to look at the contract provided by our company? If there are any issues, I can promptly contact the company."

Su Aijun smiled, "It seems Mr. Miyamoto is a dedicated and excellent employee. Your company is fortunate to have someone like you."

Miyamoto Shuichi said with a hint of embarrassment, "To be honest with Mr. Fang and Mr. Su, I can't rest easy until the copyright contract is signed. I can't eat or sleep well. So I had to come and discuss it with you. I hope you can give me a chance."

Fang Mingyuan looked at Su Aijun and smiled, "Mr. Miyamoto, you're too polite. Since this matter is causing you so much distress, Uncle Su, let's discuss it now, no need to wait until tomorrow." *Weekly Shonen* was clearly not an option, with such a harsh contract, Fang Mingyuan would never agree to it. So, *Monthly Shonen* was the only choice left. Therefore, he needed to appropriately win over Miyamoto Shuichi.

Su Aijun, of course, understood Fang Mingyuan's intentions. Although he had initially favored *Weekly Shonen*, such a contract was not worth signing. Now, just thinking about it made him angry.

Miyamoto Shuichi quickly took out the contract from his briefcase, which was already prepared. There were two copies each in Japanese and Chinese. What made Fang Mingyuan happy was that the contract clearly stated that if there were any discrepancies in the interpretation of the terms, the Chinese version would prevail. Just from this, Su Aijun and Fang Mingyuan could feel Miyamoto Shuichi's sincerity.

Su Aijun and Fang Mingyuan each took a Chinese copy and read it carefully. Having seen the contract from *Weekly Shonen*, the differences with *Monthly Shonen* were obvious.

First, the *Monthly Shonen* contract was only for the copyright of the manga. The rights to adapt the work, the rights to the characters' images, and the rights to authorize merchandise still belonged to the author. It was noted that if the magazine helped the author successfully sell these rights, the magazine would take a commission from the transaction amount, but it would not exceed 15% of the total. It was also specifically noted that if Aniplex Co., Ltd. bought these rights, the magazine would not take any commission.

Second, Fang Mingyuan's future income would be based on the average royalties of Japanese manga artists of the same period. However, if *Yu Yu Hakusho* entered the top ten in sales or reader ratings in Japan, *Monthly Shonen* would pay him at the top manga artist's rate and make up for any previous royalties.

Third, the deadlines and quantity requirements for submissions were much more lenient compared to *Weekly Shonen*. The rights and obligations of both parties were roughly equal.

Miyamoto Shuichi watched the two nervously. This contract was what he had worked hard to secure from the company for Fang Mingyuan. He believed the terms were quite generous and should be able to win Fang Mingyuan over. He also believed that *Yu Yu Hakusho* would definitely live up to the terms of this contract in the future.

After Su Aijun and Fang Mingyuan finished reading the contract, Miyamoto Shuichi asked, "Mr. Fang, if you have any objections to the terms of the contract, please let me know now. I will contact the company as soon as I return to the hotel and do my best to secure the best terms for you!"
