This competition has three questions. The first one is to write an essay after reading a short story, the second is a situational essay, and the third is a topic essay with no genre restrictions, but the title is quite peculiar: "Give Me a Green Meadow."

Feng Yiping thought that the questions set by these teachers nowadays could rival those in ancient imperial examinations. The latter sometimes randomly picked two sentences from the Analects and combined them, while today's teachers are even more imaginative.

However, Feng Yiping has read quite a few magazines like Reader's Digest, Chicken Soup for the Soul, Yilin, Youth Digest, and Special Focus, and he also enjoys reading the columns of those literary figures at night, so this really doesn't stump him.

Two hours for three essays, the time is quite tight, and most people don't have time to draft their work.

Not long after the exam started, a few leaders came around for a quick tour. Later, the two invigilators at the front and back of the classroom were quite relaxed. There was no way anyone would copy someone else's essay in such a simple exam.

When the exam was about halfway through, the school leaders accompanied the city and county education bureau officials out in the school's "Shanghai" car, leaving Director Ye to manage things alone.

He had just taken a sip of tea when someone knocked on the door. The teacher who had been looking for him at the gate walked in, followed by a student who was hesitant.

"What's the matter?" He was a bit impatient, couldn't he have a moment's peace?

The teacher let the middle schooler explain the situation. Of course, the middle schooler mainly said there was some misunderstanding, he had apologized, but was still punched.

Director Ye was a bit angry after hearing this. This student was really too arrogant. "Did he say his name and school?"

"Yes," the middle schooler said urgently.

But Director Ye didn't rush to ask.

This was a bit strange. If the person who hit him didn't leave his name or school, it would mean he was in the wrong and felt guilty. Since the person who hit him boldly left his name and school, it could either be fake, or if it was real, the student was either extremely arrogant or believed he was in the right.

"Is this all you have to say?" Director Ye stared at him.

"Yes," the middle schooler stammered.

"Since you're not in class today and didn't participate in the competition, why did you come to school?"

"To get reference books," the middle schooler dodged.

In any middle school, they are very strict about relationships between boys and girls, so he didn't dare say he came to accompany a female classmate.

Director Ye understood that what he said was somewhat watered down, but he still favored his own students. On his turf, hitting his student, he had to get an explanation.

"Which school, and what's his name?"

"Liángjiāhé Middle School, Feng Yiping," Director Ye was taken aback when he heard this.

The teacher added, "He's the one who fixed the generator earlier."

The child didn't seem very arrogant! "Is their Liu teacher around?"

"He's outside."

Director Ye personally went to invite Liu teacher into the office. Liu teacher immediately understood what was going on but didn't rush, leisurely drinking tea and waiting for them to speak.

Director Ye explained the situation, and Liu teacher didn't argue, "When I returned to the hotel at noon, two girls saw me and cried, saying they were bullied at your school. Feng Yiping also admitted to hitting someone, but the details and the cause are different from what you said."

Liu teacher then recounted what Feng Yiping and the others had said, "In my opinion, although Feng Yiping hitting someone was wrong, it was understandable under the circumstances. I originally planned to report it to your school, but to avoid trouble between the two schools, I decided not to. Who knew I would be accused instead!"

"Three of our students, one of whom is the daughter of our vice-principal, grew up under our watchful eyes. She never lies or causes trouble. Feng Yiping, from what I know, has been an excellent student since third grade, ranking second in the county in the last two final exams. He gets along well with everyone at school and is liked by teachers, students, and even the kitchen staff. For such a student to hit someone in an unfamiliar place, there must be a reason, don't you think?"

Director Ye was a bit annoyed. If Liu teacher denied the hitting, he would have something to say, but Liu teacher didn't shirk responsibility and explained everything clearly. On his side, they only mentioned the favorable parts.

After some thought, he roughly understood the situation.

"I'm sorry, we didn't manage well, and I apologize for the inconvenience," Director Ye said.

"It's fine, both sides were at fault. Do you want me to have those three students apologize?" Liu teacher's words were soft but firm.

"No, no, it's not a big deal. It's over. Remember to give my regards to Old Zhang when you go back."

They were in the same system, and he had met Vice-Principal Zhang a few times. His daughter was bullied at his school, and he couldn't take her side, but it wouldn't be right to make her apologize.

After the exam, Feng Yiping was still waiting for Director Ye. According to what he said, wasn't he going to call the principal to praise him? Why hasn't he come yet?

"Quick, go to the station before the rain starts. There are only two buses left," Liu teacher urged everyone.

"Let's go. They've already complained to Director Ye, and it's good that they didn't come to you. What are you waiting for?" Liu teacher patted Feng Yiping's shoulder.

Indeed, teachers, regardless of whether their students are right or wrong, will always favor their own. Is this good or bad?

Also, these school officials are bureaucrats. You can't trust what they say.

It started raining halfway, and they didn't return to town until nearly seven. The special car from yesterday was waiting, and they arrived at the school by eight. Zhang Qiuling naturally went home, and Liu teacher took the remaining students to the canteen for dinner.

There was plenty of food left, and the dishes were good: stir-fried pork, fish head and tofu soup, water chestnuts with eggs from the nearby pond, dry-fried green beans, and braised eggplant, all in large portions, as if they had been tipped off by Liu teacher.

But when everyone returned to the school, they became more reserved in front of the teacher, unlike the scary scene last night. Liu teacher found it amusing; the environment really does change people! He encouraged everyone, "Eat up, show the same enthusiasm as last night, don't be shy!"

Everyone ate in small bites, looking at each other, a bit embarrassed and a bit amused.

Halfway through the meal, Vice-Principal Zhang came over with an umbrella, warmly greeting everyone and specifically speaking to Feng Yiping. Everyone understood that this was a father thanking him on behalf of his daughter.

Thank you very much for your support, and a special thanks to book friend jackiee000 for the tip!
