Chapter 100

Finding Lily's whereabouts seemed easier than expected, or perhaps the two werewolves who "kidnapped" her didn't anticipate that a high-ranking vampire would go to such lengths to rescue a werewolf. They had merely confined Lily in an old warehouse on the outskirts of the north, but they hadn't completely sealed off the werewolf's scent... or the scent of a silly dog.

Of course, it was also possible that Kasa Aiben lacked the ability to do so. After all, according to Vivian, few werewolves knew advanced magic. Their personalities didn't seem to be the type to meticulously study barrier techniques. The Black Mist talent of the Aiben family was already one of the few "top-tier magics" among werewolves. They knew how to use their talent to hide themselves in the darkness, but it was difficult for them to create a barrier to hide others.

However, there was now a problem facing Hao Ren: the northern outskirts were quite far from here. He would have to cross the entire city and a large suburban area to get there, and the northern and southern outskirts were at opposite ends of the city! Vivian's bats could fly there at 120 miles per hour, defying scientific norms, but if Hao Ren ran, the flowers would be withered by the time he got there. Given Lily's silly nature... a fight might have already broken out by now.

"Shall I carry you and fly again?" Vivian stretched her limbs, preparing for a heavy flight. "I can use a spell to make us invisible; ordinary people won't notice us. However, high-altitude, high-speed flight... I'm fine, but you might feel a bit uncomfortable."

Hao Ren sighed. "Let's do it this way. If Lily starts a fight, it'll be too late to say anything."

Vivian "whooshed" and spread her large bat wings, extending her hand to Hao Ren. "No time to waste, let's go now."

"Wait a moment, I'll leave a note for Izaak." Hao Ren waved to Vivian, ran into the house, and grabbed a pen and paper. He scribbled a short note explaining the general situation with Lily and his destination. At this moment, he realized he had overlooked many details: among all the tenants, only Lily had a phone to maintain constant contact, and he had no way to track the tenants' locations. He also lacked convenient transportation... a myriad of issues were now exposed, but it wasn't the time to dwell on them. After this incident, he definitely needed to have a talk with Raven.

Leaving the note, Hao Ren and Vivian set off for the northern outskirts, racing through the wind.

High altitude, high speed, cold wind howling, and thin air made it impossible for Hao Ren to enjoy the so-called soft and warm embrace of a beautiful girl like Vivian (even under other circumstances, it would be impossible: Vivian's body temperature was a few degrees lower than normal). He felt a bit embarrassed about being carried by a girl again and shouted to Vivian, "I need to get new abilities from Raven 12345 as soon as possible. At the very least, I need to learn how to fly. Look at the trouble we've had..."

An ordinary person flying at high altitude and speaking at 120 miles per hour would probably pass out from lack of oxygen, but Hao Ren could hold on. He just swallowed a lot of cold air and small ice crystals. After shouting, he felt an indescribable sourness.

Vivian, being who she was, could hear the embarrassment in Hao Ren's voice and laughed it off. "It's quite interesting to carry you. I rarely have this experience. I've been a lone wanderer for many years, and now it feels quite fresh to carry someone around."

Hao Ren: "..." He felt the vampire girl's words were a bit strange but decided not to delve into it...

Vivian flew quickly, and it didn't take long for them to cross the entire city and reach a desolate area similar to the southern outskirts.

This was the northern outskirts, and a remote old industrial and trade zone far from the residential areas. Initially, a large number of factories, warehouses, and logistics companies had clustered here, naturally choosing a location far from human habitation due to pollution and noise. However, in recent years, with the re-planning of several major roads near the city and the shift in commercial focus, many of the companies operating here had moved to better locations, leaving the northern industrial and trade zone abandoned. Now, only a few heavily polluting or difficult-to-relocate companies were still operating, and most of the simple warehouses and factories were either partially cleared or completely abandoned. It was said that the municipal government was considering the redevelopment of this old industrial and trade zone, but that would be at least a few years away.

The current northern industrial and trade zone was a barren land filled with old factories.

Vivian and Hao Ren landed on the roof of a two-story color steel building. Vivian dispelled the energy-consuming invisibility spell and pointed to a large facility not far ahead. "That direction. My bats are hanging under the eaves, and the big dog's scent is coming from inside. However, there are many swirling black mists around the warehouse, blocking all the entrances and exits. The bats can't get in. The Aiben family's werewolves... tsk tsk, as troublesome as they were back then."

Hao Ren stretched his neck and observed for a while. "It doesn't look like they've started fighting yet."

"Do you have a plan?" Vivian turned to look at Hao Ren. "Should we just start fighting?"

Hao Ren had a slightly troubled expression. Honestly, he had considered the possibility of a direct fight, but the situation seemed a bit complex. Strictly speaking, the two genuine werewolves weren't kidnappers. They had found Lily with the intention of finding a fellow werewolf. Although they had some concerns and didn't directly explain the situation to Lily, at least from their motives, they didn't intend to harm anyone.

But Hao Ren wasn't naive enough to think he could negotiate amicably and bring Lily back home. Real werewolves in this world were definitely not like Lily's quirky personality. As many stories suggest, genuine werewolves were irritable and difficult to deal with. His appearance... there was a high chance he would have to fight.

Hao Ren recalled his experience fighting giant wolves in the Dream Plane and tried to focus his mind, entering a combat state as described in novels. He then nodded his head toward the warehouse. "Do you know where Lily is roughly?"

"I have a general idea," Vivian pointed to the west side of the warehouse. "There's a row of windows shrouded in black mist. They should be office or duty rooms. Lily is in one of them."

"Can we lure those two werewolves away and then rush in to rescue Lily?" Hao Ren thought of a strategy. "Once we're all together, even if we have to fight, we won't have to worry about anything."

Vivian nodded, closed her eyes, and muttered a very complex incantation. A pale pink mist appeared from all directions and quickly condensed into a vague human figure, which was clearly Vivian's image.

The blood mist clone rapidly solidified into a near-solid form, and a group of small bats appeared behind it, flying around it. Vivian pointed toward the warehouse's main entrance, and the clone, accompanied by a large group of bats, charged straight ahead.

The blood mist clone didn't hide its presence, so when it was halfway there, Hao Ren saw a large cloud of black smoke surge from the warehouse's main entrance. The werewolves inside were indeed alarmed.

"Let's go!" Vivian grabbed Hao Ren's arm, and the two of them leaped from the roof like arrows, rushing straight toward the row of windows on the west side of the warehouse.

The surrounding area was filled with abandoned factories and piles of construction waste, so there was no need to worry about anyone seeing what was happening. Vivian didn't even retract her bat wings, gliding close to the ground at high speed. Hao Ren, though he could only run on the ground, managed to keep up by pushing himself to the limit.

The two arrived at the base of the warehouse's west wall without incident. Almost simultaneously, they heard a wild, beast-like roar from the direction of the main entrance, indicating that Vivian's clone had engaged the werewolves.

"My blood mist can corrode glass and ceramics," Vivian said with a sinister smile. "Many werewolves have fallen to this. I hope the Aiben family sent two smart ones this time."

Hao Ren looked up at the row of windows above. Based on the height, the warehouse was likely divided into two floors, and Lily's duty room or office was on the second floor. As Vivian had said, each window was shrouded in a living, black mist, which looked both disgusting and eerie.

Hao Ren touched his pocket, and a voice immediately sounded in his mind: "This device warns you, if you dare to throw me out..."

"Why would I throw you out when I'm full?" Hao Ren was exasperated with the data terminal, which was becoming overly sensitive. "I'm just looking for my phone to call Lily and see if she can break through..."

Before Hao Ren could finish, a loud shout came from nearby: "Damn it! It's you blood-sucking vermin!"
