Chapter 61

Although Nangong had a bunch of genuine weapons in his hands, he was still just a mortal. This was evident from his fighting style: he couldn't fly or move through the earth, nor could he lift a thousand jin. Even a small rock falling from above would make him dodge. Seeing this, Hao Ren's confidence soared, and he stepped forward, using a brick to knock down this half-baked demon hunter who couldn't accomplish anything.

He used his data terminal.

"This thing finally works once!" Hao Ren looked at Nangong, who had fallen straight to the ground, and felt quite satisfied as he looked at the hexagonal metal block in his hand, which resembled an ashtray. He thought that after experiencing countless unpleasant user experiences, he had finally discovered the one function of this thing that worked properly. However, the data terminal clearly didn't agree—over the next few minutes, it cursed in Hao Ren's mind for five minutes. Hao Ren felt he should find out where the mute function was on this thing.

"Trouble dealt with, let's start the operation!" Hao Ren shook his head gracefully, and immediately, Vivian and Lily transformed, starting to bombard the surrounding undead armor that was gradually breaking free from the rune control. They quickly cleared a large area of the undead that had approached the group. However, just as everything was going according to plan, a situation that made everyone's eyes twitch occurred: a rope suddenly dropped from the large hole in the ceiling!

The emaciated Indian monk, who had also not left, was now descending from the sky, just like Nangong!

Hao Ren looked at the two superwomen who were wreaking havoc, then at Nangong, who was already lying on the ground. He gritted his teeth and stomped his foot, feeling that he should show some decisiveness as a man. Taking advantage of the fact that the emaciated monk hadn't yet adapted to the dark environment of the underground chamber, he rushed forward in two steps, and the data terminal's shrill scream echoed in his mind: "You, stop immediately! Your usage is—"

"Bang!"

The Indian monk, who seemed to have some skills like Nangong, was also just a mortal. A brick to the back of his head knocked him out on the spot—this unfortunate man had just slid down the rope and hadn't even touched the ground before he was lying there.

Hao Ren supported the unconscious old man and placed him to the side, feeling quite apologetic. He grimaced and apologized to the old man, who was wearing strange robes and smelled of spices: "Sorry, the situation is special—being awake would be more dangerous."

"Are you still being picky at a time like this?" Vivian spread her large wings and looked at Hao Ren with a strange expression.

"He's old, I have to apologize for hitting him on the back of the head, right?"

Vivian, for some reason, suddenly said, "…I don't see you being particularly respectful to me either."

Hao Ren: "…"

With no interference from outsiders and in a relatively open area with moonlight shining down, Vivian and Lily finally had room to maneuver. Under the sweeping attacks of a violent meat grinder and a perpetual polar storm, hundreds of iron cans soon lay on the ground. However, more than half of these iron cans were not completely "dead." These steel warriors had a vitality far beyond human imagination. Even if they were reduced to a pile of parts, as long as they weren't completely crushed, they could quickly reassemble. Soon, the hall was filled with the "clattering" sound of metal armor fragments rolling around, and countless limbs and arms were reassembling into armor on the ground. The sound and scene were enough to make anyone's hair stand on end, but Hao Ren's nerves were already accustomed to such scenes. He just felt that this way of fighting wasn't going to work: the armor's vitality was too strong. They weren't invincible, but they would immediately revive after being killed, which was very troublesome. Vivian's polar storm also needed a cooldown period, and the continuous release of cold air had already lowered the temperature in the hall to a dangerous level. Hao Ren was very worried that he would freeze to death before the armor did—or that Nangong and the Indian monk would freeze to death first.

They needed to move the battlefield to a wider area—or just run away.

"Let's quickly find a way up," Hao Ren looked up at the large hole above, "Once we get up, we can figure out what to do. We don't know how many more of these armors there are, and fighting them underground is a waste of effort."

"Okay!" Lily, who was still wreaking havoc with another unfortunate undead armor, was the first to run back when she heard Hao Ren's words. The werewolf girl had long been tired of this gloomy and cramped space. After sweeping away a group of enemies with her "warhammer," she was ready to break through. However, Hao Ren first gathered the two unfortunate men on the ground: "We need to take them up."

"Two people… plus you, that's not easy to carry," Vivian frowned, then suddenly noticed the two ropes hanging from the ceiling. She flew up and cut the ropes, then brought them back to Hao Ren, "Tie them together, I'll pull them up first. You and the big dog wait behind—big dog, can you get up by yourself?"

Lily looked up at the large hole that reached the ground and nodded confidently: "One jump and I'm up!"

Hao Ren marveled at the werewolf girl's jumping ability, then quickly tied Nangong and the old man together. With a flap of her wings, Vivian flew up with the two men.

A moment later, Vivian flew back into the cave: "It's done, I left them where the paranormal enthusiasts camped. You hit them pretty hard; they won't wake up for a while."

"Let's prepare to go up then," Hao Ren nodded, but suddenly remembered something and pointed to the black crystal half-buried in the rubble not far away, "What about this thing… how do we handle it?"

The demon stone that had caused all the trouble still lay quietly in the center of the hall. Despite falling from a great height and being hit by falling rocks, it didn't even have a crack. Hao Ren was sure the demon stone had "awakened," as it had clearly been impacted when it fell from the ceiling. Its tip had been flashing an unsettling red light since it landed, and the undead guards in the underground chamber had lost control due to the leakage of the demon stone's power. However, apart from that, the demon stone hadn't caused any more commotion or summoned a demon as Vivian had said. So, while everyone was busy fighting, they had subconsciously ignored it.

But now they couldn't ignore it: the demon stone was constantly flashing, indicating it wouldn't stay still. Moreover, it had a significant influence on the undead in the underground chamber. No matter how they thought about it, they couldn't leave it here.

At the very least, it needed to be moved to the surface, away from the surrounding undead—since the seal on the underground chamber was already broken, there was no point in keeping it in the demon's chamber.

Vivian immediately felt a headache when she saw the demon stone, but she knew they couldn't leave it alone. She turned to Lily: "Big dog, you carry this up, I'll take the landlord up."

Lily was immediately startled: "Why is it… hey, you're cheating!"

Before the werewolf girl could finish her sentence, Vivian had already grabbed Hao Ren's arm and flown out of the cave.

"Ah… it feels so good to breathe fresh air again," as soon as they returned to the surface, Hao Ren let out a long breath and sat down. Although he was "paid," he was still in the early stages of physical enhancement and could still feel tired, sore, and cramped. At this moment, he didn't even have the strength to stand up, "I need to catch my breath, tonight was really tough…"

"How come the big dog hasn't come up yet?" After a few seconds, Vivian looked at the quiet hole a few dozen meters away and asked curiously, "Is something wrong?"

As soon as she finished speaking, she heard Lily's "Hey!" from the hole, and then a silver figure shot up like a cannonball. Lily, holding the demon stone that was flashing red, jumped several meters above the ground and proudly shouted: "I told you, one jump and I'm up!"

Hao Ren and Vivian watched silently as Lily jumped out of the hole and then fell back into it along the same path...

Lily then started jumping up and down: "Can someone help me..."

"Give me a kick from the side..."

"Otherwise, I can't land outside!"

It took her three tries to finish her sentence.

Vivian stepped forward and kicked her: "You idiot! Can't you jump in a parabola?!"

(We're first in the Three Rivers, keep working hard, only two days left!)
