"..."
I opened the door as quietly as possible and finally succeeded in infiltrating the Demon King's castle.
"Is... no one here?"
When I entered, for some reason, there was no one there.
However, that was actually convenient for me.
I immediately decided to explore the castle to find the room where the Demon King should be.
"Ha, ha... Heal...!"
There was a time when I thought finding the Demon King might be easy.
Now, I am being chased by several guards who appear to be demons.
Some are running on their feet, while others are floating in the air with wings on their backs, chasing me.
While desperately running, I kept searching for a room that looked like it could be the Demon King's.
"Hey, thief, stop right there!!"
From behind, I could hear shouts and something that seemed like weapons being thrown at me.
Needless to say, my already pitch-black cloak now had several holes, and dark red blood was seeping through them.
If I got hurt, I would heal myself.
I just kept casting Heal and running to avoid being caught by the demons chasing me from behind.
"Ha, ha... Did I lose them...?"
I caught my breath with a healing spell and looked back to see if anyone was still there.
Thanks to the healing spell and my relentless running, all I could see was a long, empty corridor.
However, it was a fact that I had been discovered by the demons.
By now, my information might have spread throughout the entire Demon King's castle.
That means I really need to find the Demon King as soon as possible.
"But, I still can't find him..."
While running and using healing spells, I kept searching for a room that looked like it could be the Demon King's, but all the doors looked ordinary, and I couldn't find the right one.
"Hmm?"
Suddenly, I noticed a door that was slightly more decorated than the others.
Although I didn't think it could be the Demon King's room, I decided to check it out just in case and approached the door.
*Click*
"!?"
However, just as I was about to touch the door, it was opened from the inside by someone.
I quickly stepped back and braced myself for the person coming out of the room.
"Oh..."
The person who came out was the maid who had guided me to the entrance when I left the castle.
"...Are you... Anest-sama?"
When the maid noticed me, she squinted her eyes for a moment but quickly returned to her usual expressionless face and, surprisingly, guessed my true identity as the "Pitch-Black Savior."
"..."
I was at a loss for words and frozen in place, stunned that my identity had been revealed so suddenly.
"...No, it seems I was mistaken. I apologize."
Then, for some reason, the maid said this and bowed slightly.
I didn't understand why she was doing this and was just confused.
"The Demon King's room is that way. It's a bit complicated, but once you get there, you should be able to figure it out."
"Eh?"
*Click*
Before I could say anything, the maid returned to the room and even closed the door for me.
"..."
What just happened?
I think the maid realized who I was.
Yet, she did nothing and just told me where the Demon King's room was.
"Thank you..."
I left a small, almost inaudible thank you, hoping she could hear it, and decided to start looking for the Demon King's room again.
Even though I had already been told the location by the maid, it wasn't much of a hassle.
Following the maid's directions, I found a place that was indeed complicated, but there was a door that clearly stood out from the others.
"Um, Heal..."
I wasn't particularly tired, but I cast a healing spell just in case.
"Okay, let's go..."
I made up my mind and placed my hand on the large door.
The coldness of the door was transmitted through my hand, and it was a welcome sensation to calm my excited heart.
"Well, there's nothing else to do but try my best..."
I gathered my strength and slowly pushed open the heavy door.
All for the sake of bringing Lily back—.
