September 19th, Wednesday.

The weather was pleasant, with a gentle breeze and bright sunshine.

As autumn approached, the midday sun was no longer as scorching as it had been in the previous months.

Near the dormitory area, a small playground was bustling with the Biochemistry College dormitory basketball tournament.

A total of 322 dormitories participated, meaning 322 teams were competing. According to the rules, the first round would eliminate teams to leave 80 candidates, from which 20 teams would be selected to advance to the semi-finals. The semi-finals would then determine the five teams that would enter the finals.

The game rules were the same as those of a standard basketball match, with a full court game divided into two halves, each lasting 10 minutes, with a 3-minute break in between. If the score was tied, there would be a 5-minute overtime.

Currently, the second game for Dorm 330 in Building 17 was underway, with their opponents being Dorm 316 next door. If they defeated them, Su Yuan and his team would directly advance to the top 80 teams.

The temperature on the rubber court was intense, but the spectators were enthusiastic. As the only one in the dorm who wasn't playing, Su Yuan wore a white sun hat and stood next to a half-box of mineral water, cheering for his teammates.

On the court, Ji Yehao, Gao Jun, and Yang Xiaowei moved swiftly, passing the ball back and forth. In no time, they had advanced to the opponent's basket.

"Go, Yehao!!" The students from Class 1 of Biotechnology cheered for him as he held the ball.

"Ah, we are of the same root, why must we be so ruthless to each other?" Su Yuan looked at the score of 34-18 and sighed. With a 16-point lead, just like in the previous game, the victory for Dorm 330 was almost certain. However, the feeling of eliminating a team from the same class was quite peculiar.

The crowd quickly dispersed, and Su Yuan helped everyone gather their clothes.

"Su Yuan, we did pretty well in this game, right?" Yang Xiaowei grinned, showing his white teeth.

Su Yuan smiled, "The process and the result were both good, but the score gap was a bit too large. Even if we don't consider the friendship, Dorm 316 must be pretty upset."

Yang Xiaowei laughed, "Winning and losing are common in games. Besides, this is about skill. It wouldn't be meaningful to deliberately let them win." He put down the ball and changed his clothes in public.

"Shall we go back and take a shower, or go eat something?" Ji Yehao asked.

"Of course, we should go eat something! We need a good lunch to celebrate our victory," Gao Jun called out.

"Let's go then!"

Su Yuan nodded, and the four of them headed to the food stalls outside the east gate.

After the meal, Su Yuan didn't return to the dormitory with them but instead boarded a bus. Xia Linfei had arranged to meet her outside to introduce her to a part-time job.

This was actually Su Yuan's idea. To improve her increasingly tight financial situation, she decided to find a proper part-time job. Relying on distributing flyers wasn't a long-term solution, and she had already realized how hard it was, so she didn't want to do it again.

She mentioned this to Xia Linfei on QQ, and the enthusiastic Xia Linfei immediately told her about a suitable job.

It was a tutoring job, with three classes per week, each lasting two hours. The student was a 14-year-old girl, not mischievous, but lacking in talent, particularly in Natural Science and Math.

Su Yuan thought this was great! If it were a 14-year-old boy, she might have hesitated, as boys at that age can be quite troublesome. But since it was a girl, it was perfect. Moreover, teaching Natural Science and Math to a 14-year-old should be manageable for her.

The pay was also good: 80 yuan per hour, 160 yuan per day, and 480 yuan per week.

There was no reason for Su Yuan to refuse such a lucrative part-time job.

After five bus stops, she arrived at the meeting place. She waited at the bus stop for a while before Xia Linfei finally arrived.

If they were going in the same direction, they could go back together.

The couple, busy with their business, had neglected their daughter's studies. By the time they realized it, she was already lagging behind her classmates.

Xia Linfei was originally the family's tutor, but after being admitted to graduate school, she needed to spend more time in the lab, so she recommended Su Yuan to take over.

Su Yuan was indeed very lucky. The Tang family had always been satisfied with Xia Linfei's tutoring of their daughter. Upon hearing that she was recommending a successor, they readily agreed, even keeping the hourly wage the same.
