Chapter 80

For an entire afternoon, Su Yuan was pulled around by the soon-to-be-married couple, Su Huatian and Huo Yanxi, trying on various outfits.

According to Su Huatian and Huo Yanxi, the bridesmaid must make a stunning impression, so her attire and appearance must be appropriate.

As the bride's representative, the bridesmaid bears a very important responsibility throughout the wedding. While it is essential to choose someone with a good image, the unwritten rule is that she must be less attractive than the bride to avoid stealing the spotlight.

Su Yuan was well aware of her own beauty, which was quite good, and with a bit of dressing up, she could transform like a caterpillar into a butterfly. Fortunately, Huo Yanxi was not bad either, but a wedding where the bridesmaid and the bride are equally eye-catching would imply that the bridesmaid is stealing the bride's thunder. Although Su Yuan had never been involved in wedding preparations, she knew this was inappropriate.

She expressed her concerns, hoping to dissuade Su Huatian and Huo Yanxi from continuing to dress her up, but to her surprise, they just smiled faintly and remained unmoved.

Gradually, Su Yuan realized that in Su Huatian and Huo Yanxi's eyes, she was just a very cute toy. Su Huatian wanted to see his cousin's charm, while Huo Yanxi looked forward to seeing her former male classmate in female makeup. The two soon-to-be-married individuals were simply out of their minds.

After a tiring afternoon of changing clothes and applying makeup, Su Yuan finally dragged her exhausted body back home.

Su Caiwei had already prepared dinner. Seeing Su Yuan return with two bags and a tired face, she asked, "How was it at Grandpa and Grandma's? They must have been happy to see their granddaughter, right?"

Su Yuan gave Su Caiwei a look and said indifferently, "Mom, you've already taken care of everything. How could Grandpa and Grandma not be happy?"

This time, Su Yuan's return did not cause a huge stir, which was somewhat disappointing compared to what she had imagined. She thought that when her grandparents, who had known her as a grandson, suddenly saw her as a granddaughter, they would at least express some complex emotions, if not shock. But to her surprise, they were not surprised at all, as if she had always been their granddaughter. Her uncle and aunt treated her like a patient, showing concern and affection without treating her like a freak.

Her cousin, on the other hand, acted a bit more "normal," but as a family member, his behavior was not to Su Yuan's liking.

This trip back to her hometown made Su Yuan realize the power of her mother, Su Caiwei. It was as if a finely woven net had captured all the relatives related to Su Yuan. In their eyes, Su Yuan was clearly a "female pseudo-hermaphrodite," a girl who had lived as a "fake boy" for nearly two decades and was finally able to show her true self.

Su Yuan didn't know whether to be troubled or relieved. The lack of a dramatic clash of ideas, like a collision of celestial bodies, made her feel that life was a bit too mundane. Indeed, she had a slight masochistic tendency, but upon reflection, she realized it wasn't that she desired to be mistreated, but that the overly calm acceptance failed to highlight the shocking nature of her transformation.

In Su Yuan's view, her transformation was a monumental event, and it couldn't end so anticlimactically!

A scene came to mind: friends and relatives gathered for a casual chat, drinking tea and making small talk. Suddenly, someone interjected, "Oh, our Su Yuan has turned into a girl!"

"Oh, really?" And that was it. They would continue drinking tea and change the topic.

This was outright neglect!

But then again, a simple and ordinary life was the true essence. While a life full of excitement and danger was thrilling, it could also cost one their life. Once a person lost their life, they lost everything. The Creator was fair; often, giving one person wealth but not happiness, or giving happiness but leaving them impoverished.

Su Yuan emerged from her narrow-minded thoughts, stretched out on the soft sofa, and let out a slight moan of comfort, sighing that life should be this enjoyable. She turned to Su Caiwei, who was bringing out the dishes, and said, "Mom, can we eat now?"

Su Caiwei smiled and replied, "Sure, go get the rice!"

Hearing this, Su Yuan sprang up from the sofa, put on her slippers, and ran into the kitchen to get two bowls of rice for herself and Su Caiwei.

She was truly exhausted and starving. She had only had a quick meal with Su Huatian and Huo Yanxi at a food court in the afternoon and spent the rest of the day as a living mannequin. Through this experience, she deeply understood women's dedication to shopping, especially for brides-to-be, who seemed to shop endlessly. Even the bridesmaid's attire was meticulously prepared as a significant life event.

Su Caiwei's cooking still suited Su Yuan's taste. After finishing two small bowls of rice, she put down her bowl, leaned back in her chair, and felt thoroughly satisfied.

As usual, after a brief rest, Su Yuan and Su Caiwei cleaned up the dishes together. Then Su Caiwei pulled her into the bathroom for a bath. With previous experience, Su Yuan felt she could "calmly" handle these situations.

Although her mother's impressive figure and smooth, elastic skin still made her heart race and her breathing uneven, she reminded herself that her mother was just a bit more mature. She could treat it like looking in a mirror. Moreover, her mother was a person of character and integrity. Even though she helped Su Yuan apply body wash all over, not a single evil thought crossed her mind.

This woman was genuinely helping her daughter apply body wash, not taking advantage of the situation!

Especially since Su Yuan was on her period, bathing was a bit more complicated. Without experience, Su Caiwei had to teach her by example.

During the bath, Su Caiwei also let Su Yuan help her with her back, and Su Yuan took the opportunity to "take advantage" of her. After they both washed up and smelled fresh, they wrapped themselves in bath towels and came out of the bathroom.

Without her professional OL attire, Su Caiwei lost a bit of her mature aura, and the mother-daughter resemblance became more apparent.

"Tomorrow is your brother Xiao Tian's wedding day. Since you've agreed to be their bridesmaid, you must do your best and wake up early," Su Caiwei instructed before bed.

"What about you, Mom?" Su Yuan looked up with bright eyes and asked.

"Tomorrow, I'll go to the countryside. You can just follow the wedding procession."

"That's good!"

Hearing that her mother would be there, Su Yuan felt a bit relieved. A few hours earlier, she had been disappointed that her transformation hadn't caused a big enough stir, but now, the thought of facing a large group of relatives as a bridesmaid made her nervous, and she hoped her mother could share the burden.

Sensing Su Yuan's unease, Su Caiwei chuckled, rubbed her head, and hugged her. Even as a woman, Su Caiwei found a unique pleasure in holding her daughter. Over the past two days, she had treated Su Yuan like a pillow, enjoying sleeping with her.

And every morning, Su Yuan would cling to her like an octopus, seemingly treating her as a pillow as well.

-----------------------------------------

October 4th, the 19th day of the eighth lunar month.

Good for marriage, engagement, and sacrifice, but avoid funerals and making stoves.

Huo Yanxi's home was about a twenty-minute drive from Su Yuan's place. Early in the morning, Su Yuan got out of bed.

She put on the bridesmaid outfit she had prepared the day before. Su Caiwei grabbed her to apply a light makeup, but Su Yuan refused and escaped from her grasp.

Wearing women's clothing was already her current limit. Makeup was something she didn't need and couldn't accept.

Although Huo Yanxi had spent the entire afternoon the day before helping her choose outfits, hoping to make her look beautiful, as a bridesmaid, Su Yuan understood her responsibilities. She was there to support the bride and help ease her nervousness, not to compete for attention.

At 8:00 AM, Su Yuan, dressed in elegant attire, arrived at Huo Yanxi's home.

The atmosphere was already lively. When the guests saw Su Yuan's "elegant and luxurious" appearance, they were all impressed.

On the way, Su Yuan's charm had attracted quite a few onlookers. Finally, she breathed a sigh of relief upon reaching the bride's home.
