Will see the clothes when return home tomorrow?

Ping Zhaofu was shocked.

She meant that work would start tomorrow, but it would not be completed in a day.

When she used to cut clothes for Ping family, it took her at least ten days to do for one piece. Even if she didn’t have to go to the fields now, his clothes must not be shoddy. The stitches must be fine, and it definitely cannot be completed in one day.

But she didn’t have the courage to show her powerlessness under his displeased eyes.

“Yes, what about the materials? You have to choose the materials.”

“Go and ask Aunt Chen, there should be leftover materials for the clothes last time, and the size should be recorded.” Cha Xiangye pinched Ping Zhaofu’s chin, “I look forward to returning home tomorrow.”

He raised the corners of his mouth, raised his single eyebrows slightly, and his eyes were sharp. Such a smile made Ping Zhaofu’s back chilled. Although he followed his mouth with a smile, there was no smile in his eyes.

Early the next morning, Ping Zhaofu rushed over to Aunt Chen and brought back a piece of cloth and Cha Xiangye’s body size chart.

Ping Zhaofu thought that there wasn’t much time, so would make a simple style of home clothing.

Although she was not confident, but would still have to do it.

The two maids also came to help as soon as they finished their housework.

Fei’er’s needlework was not good, she sewed slowly, and often got her fingers poked accidentally. On the other hand, Rou’er was quite familiar with sewing. When Ping Zhaofu asked curiously during chatting, she realized that her mother was a tailor. Rou’er was fascinated by that, so she helped her mother a lot. But later because of the increased family members and expenses at home, in order to reduce the burden of the family, she signed a letter to become as slave.

Ping Zhaofu couldn’t help sighing that they have their own hardships, and understood that they always felt helpless to support themselves.

“I liked Madam from the beginning.” Rou’er smiled, “Madam has no arrogance, unlike the previous ladies who were all daughters of rich families, not only all of them were bossy and arrogant, they also followed the secon….ah!” Suddenly her arm being screwed, Rou’er yelled in pain.

“Watch your mouth.” Fei’er warned.

Rou’er quickly covered her mouth.

“What happen?” Ping Zhaofu asked curiously.

She only heard a word of ‘second’ and then was interrupted by Fei’er.

“No, no!” Rou’er hurriedly shook her hands and head.

“I don’t mind, please tell me.” She was also very curious about the ex-madams, and wanted to know the reason for their deaths.

She never believed that it was like as rumoured that both of them were tortured to death by Cha Xiangye. After all, she had annoyed Cha Xiangye so many times, but he had never done anything terrible on her. At most, he told her not to show up in front of him. He just threw tantrum, as usual.

So the real reason why the first two wives passed away made her even more curious, but she had never had a chance to find the truth, and even if the maids or other servants accidentally spilled the beans, someone would be reminded next to her, as if to deliberately concealed her.

She couldn’t help but to think of Aunt Xu’s explanation that day– Don’t walk around.

Is it possible that there was a trap somewhere in this house, and you will lose your life if you accidentally fall?

But Rou’er insisted on refusing to continue the unfinished statement, and Fei’er was tight-lipped. Ping Zhaofu could not continue to ask more, so she suppressed the confusion.

Rou’er’s extremely efficient in the work assignment and the three people’s non-resting efforts, they finally finished sewing the clothes before Cha Xiangye returned home.

When Cha Xiangye stepped into the yard, Ping Zhaofu just finished the last stitch and quickly cut the thread and got up to greet him.

Cha Xiangye glanced at the unironed clothes on the table, “Is it done?”

“Yes.” Ping Zhaofu nodded, her eyes were sore from overuse, there were bloodshot in her eyes.

Cha Xiangye stretched out his hand and smoothed Zhaofu’s tired eyes, feeling a little sad.

He didn’t know that his request was too much. At that moment, he just wanted to know how much she could do for him, competed with another man with a naive attitude.

He just wanted to make sure that he was the only one in her heart and trying to keep her away from temptations, hoping he would be able to gain more attention from her so that “he” could not compete.

“Let me try.”

His voice was extremely gentle this time, and Ping Zhaofu knew that he was in a good mood, which represented that today’s efforts were rewarding, and his happy face was full of smiles.

Fei’er picked up the clothes and handed them to Ping Zhaofu.

This was a plain robe without any special patterns on it, which quite simple and elegant.

After shaking off, Ping Zhaofu put on Cha Xiangye. Unexpectedly, his right arm was fine, but the cuff of his left hand was accidentally sewn to death, and Cha Xiangye’s hand couldn’t reach out.

Fei’er was shocked at the first sight, because she was the one who sewed the left cuff, which was terrible.

She stepped forward in a panic and wanted to plead guilty, but she didn’t expect Ping Zhaofu admitted her mistake instead.

“Sorry, I accidentally sewed the sleeve to death.”

Cha Xiangye looked around at the panic faces of the three people, and asked quietly, “Do you sew it alone?”

Ping Zhaofu bit her lip, not knowing how to give the correct answer. Did he mention that she only allowed to do it by herself? But the maids actually helped her.

To say that she finished sewing all by herself, it would be a lie. Plus she couldn’t do such thing as well, as if taking the credits of the maids.

“Yes…” She raised her eyes to meet Cha Xiangye’s gaze, “Rou’er and Fei’er helped me. My sewing is not good, so I have to rely on their help, but I accidentally stitched the sleeve to death…”

“Madam…” Ping Zhaofu took the fault on her own and moved Fei’er away with her eyes.

If the same problem happened on different people, the outcome would be different. Ping Zhaofu knew this well, so she helped Fei’er and took the responsibility on this.

And it was just a problem with the cuffs, and Ping Guifu didn’t get involved, she guessed he wouldn’t be angry.

“Go and cut the cuffs.” Cha Xiangye took off his clothes, there was no trace of discomfort between his brows.

She guessed it right!

While Ping Zhaofu breathed a sigh of relief, she also secretly liked that she could gained insight into his thoughts and grasped his emotional changes. Although she still didn’t understand what he was upset about Ping Guifu. But she was told today by the two maids and learned that- before she got married, Cha Xiangye and the Ping family were not related and had nothing to do with each other.

So the problem in her thoughts were still unsolved.

“Madam, scissors.” Rou’er handed the scissors.

Sitting on a low stool, Ping Zhaofu cut the stitched thread apart and rearranged it, while Fei’er went into the interior room to help Cha Xiangye to change his clothes.

“What did Madam do today?” Cha Xiangye asked Fei’er.

Even though he had been informed of her activities throughout the day from the monitored, but occasionally on a whim, he would still ask the maids to speculate whether these two girls and Ping Zhaofu would deceive him.

Although these two girls were the servants of the Cha family, but he could see Rou’er and Fei’er liked Ping Zhaofu, unlike the previous two wives, these girls treated her differently. Since he gathered this info about three of them, he should be more cautious.

“Madam is sewing clothes for Master all day today.”

“Not been to anywhere else?”

“Madam mostly in the room or in the kitchen.”

This is the same as reported by the monitor.

“Not going around?”

“It seems that Aunt Xu once told her only to move around in the yard and not to go anywhere else.”

“Aunt Xu?” Someone had already mentioned to her secretly.

“Yes.”

“Very good.” Cha Xiangye snorted softly. “Take her out tomorrow and help her to buy some fabrics and jewellery.” He paused for a while and said again: “If there is nothing else, take her to the garden for a walk.”

Take a walk to the garden…?

Isn’t it easier to meet ‘that person‘?

What are you thinking?

If it were her, she would definitely want to lock Madam in the room and would not give her any chance to meet ‘that person‘.

Logically, Lord should pay more attention to this aspect than her.

Fei’er, who didn’t understand Cha Xiangye’s thought, said lightly, “Yes, Lord.”

When Cha Xiangye done changing his clothes, he walked to the outer hall, Ping Zhaofu was still fighting with the needlework.

He stood silently behind her, taking advantage of his height, his gaze flicked over her slender shoulders, and fell on her tiny hands that were extremely focused on stitching the clothes.

Because the sewing was on a thick winter clothing, so it took a lot of effort than usual. The hand pinching the needle hard that left the marking on her fingers, which shown how hard she worked today. There were also several holes in her fingertips that accidentally pierced by the needle. She had new wounds and were still bleeding. As soon as the blood drops, she immediately sucked into her lips for fear of staining the clothes.

Her hands were not delicate at all, they were very rough, and there were almost thin calluses in the joints, represented her hard work in the past.

His previous two wives were from wealthy families. They cultivated piano, chess, dancing and calligraphy since childhood. They were all first-class in stitches. They were good at embroidering. Compared with Ping Zhaofu, the stitches produced by Ping Zhaofu were much rougher, but there was another kind that feeling that makes people feel contented. Something that couldn’t be ignored, he could not tell what it was, but he was unconsciously attracted, watching her tailored and refused to look away.

He made a gesture to the two maids, Fei’er and Rou’er understood that and left silently.

“It’s done.”

Ping Zhaofu looked up happily, but found that Rou’er, who was standing by the side, had disappeared. From the corner of her eyes, she noticed someone was behind her. She turned her head, and saw Cha Xiangye, she quickly stood up.

“The sleeves are already sewn.” She opened the cuffs to show him.

“I will try it on.”

“Alright.”

Ping Zhaofu shook off the clothes quickly and helped him to dress.

She carefully adjusted the collar and straightened the cuffs.

“It seems a bit narrow here under the armpit.” She raised his arm. “Isn’t it?”

“It should be fine if to wear less one piece in it.”

“Should I unload a piece of clothing?”

“Okay.”

Ping Zhaofu was busy taking off his coat and helped him to try on again. This time the result was just a good fit. No matter the sleeve length or the hem, there was no problem at all.

“It’s just right.” Ping Zhaofu stepped back to admire her masterpiece, with a relaxed smile on her face.

Cha Xiangye smoothed the wrinkles on his body.

Although there were signs of rushing work everywhere, it was unexpectedly warm.

Maybe it wasn’t the cloth that warmed him, it was the heart.

“It’s time for dinner.” He smiled lightly.

“Okay.” Ping Zhaofu turned her head and saw that the maid was still not there, “I’ll get someone to bring food.”

After speaking, she hurried out.

On the way to the kitchen, she passed by a big tree, Ping Zhaofu noticed there seemed to be someone behind the tree. She walked around curiously and saw a young man sitting under the tree, looking up and closing his eyes as if basking in the moonlight.

Ping Zhaofu looked at the stranger in surprise.

She had been married for a long time, but had never seen this young man before.

He looked about twenty or so, his face was white as snow, delicate as porcelain, his features were exquisite and handsome, his lips were pale as cherry blossoms, his body was thin and he looked like a fairy.

“Excuse me…”

The young man opened his eyes, his black pupils were as dark as obsidian, clear and bright, and his beauty was breathtaking.

“Are you a tree god?”

She thought that someone with such a flawless appearance must be a god, especially he was wearing crescent-colored clothes that made him looked elegant. Like an inattentive person, he would fly into the sky and fly towards the bright silver moon.

The young man smiled when he heard the words, his eyes flashed with surprise, and was a little amazed by her question.

“Try to guess?”

The soft voice was like gurgling water, smooth like the gentle spring breeze, Ping Zhaofu thought that if he was a human, she had never seen such a beautiful one.

She felt that her mate was already so handsome that she was ashamed of herself that could not be matched, but she did not expect that even the tree god of the Cha family were so good-looking.

“I have to get back to work.” Ping Zhaofu remembered that she had to help Cha Xiangye to prepare meals, and couldn’t make her husband who had been busy all day caught up with hunger. “Tomorrow I will prepare food and come to worship you.” Ping Zhaofu turned around and left.

“Food… worship?” The boy was taken aback, then laughed out loud, “Fun! It is fun…!”

He laughed so hard that tears were secreted from the corners of his eyes. After a moment, he stopped laughing, and his cold eyes shot towards where Ping Zhaofu disappeared.

“Nice meeting you….. sister-in-law.”
