Chapter 10

Wesley Light very much enjoyed making friends.

As Wesley and Cedric were having a friendly conversation, many doubts flashed through the mind of old Barty Crouch, as he was still pondering Wesley’s words.

Why would Wesley think he would be sorted into Hufflepuff?

This kid... doesn’t seem to fit in with Hufflepuff at all!

Such a thing is unlikely to happen; the Sorting Hat at Hogwarts definitely wouldn’t place this dangerous kid in the honest and kind Hufflepuff house.

While old Barty was still thinking, the talkative Amos Diggory extended an invitation to them: “Mr. Crouch, it seems we’re both here to help our children buy the items on the first-year list. Why don’t we head to Diagon Alley now?”

At this point, Amos Diggory added with a smile: “If we wait any longer, I’m afraid Cedric won’t be able to get the owl he wants…”

As a father, Amos wanted the best for his son, or rather, he wanted to provide the best for Cedric as much as possible.

Of course, Cedric had never let his father down.

The group walked directly through the Leaky Cauldron to the back, standing in front of an old wall with uneven bricks, which was the entrance to Diagon Alley.

Amos Diggory took out his wand and tapped a few bricks on the wall, and the sound of bricks rubbing against each other could be heard...

The bricks on the wall quickly began to rotate!

In just a few seconds, the bricks on the old wall rearranged themselves, opening a passage to the magical world!

On the other side of the passage was the scenery of Diagon Alley.

Even though Cedric Diggory had heard his father talk about Diagon Alley many times, his eyes couldn’t help but show amazement.

As for Wesley Light...

This practical person had already received his mission reward.

[Exploration Task: Enter Diagon Alley from behind the Leaky Cauldron (1/1), Reward: Unlocking Spell]

[Unlocking Spell: The incantation is "Alohomora." If the user has sufficient magical power, it can open any closed door in the world, even if the door has been enchanted with a secrecy charm.]

It has to be said, this unlocking spell is indeed attractive.

Wesley Light, with a hint of malice, had some speculations. Perhaps he could enter the common room of any Hogwarts house without any incantation, just by using the unlocking spell...

After Wesley Light glanced at the reward, he began to observe Diagon Alley, the most bustling market street in the magical world.

This street was not very wide.

On both sides were densely packed wizarding shops.

Diagon Alley was currently bustling with activity, with many wizards wearing pointed hats standing on the street, chatting about their shopping hauls amidst laughter.

“Mr. Crouch, Mr. Light, where are you going?”

Amos Diggory turned to look at old Barty Crouch and Wesley Light, asked them, and then directly gave their answer: “I plan to take Cedric to Ollivanders first; he has longed for a wand for so long…”

“Cedric will choose the one that suits him best.”

Old Barty Crouch nodded slightly at them and then explained: “It seems we will part ways here. We plan to buy the required items in the order of the shops…”

Wesley had no objections.

If they followed the order, the two groups would part ways here.

The nearest shop to them was Patil’s Cauldrons, where the list mentioned they needed to buy a cauldron for use in Potions class.

“Get me a sturdy pot.”

Wesley Light made his request to old Barty, adding an explanation: “Preferably one that can be used to bash someone’s head in during a fight…”

“...”

Old Barty Crouch’s eyes twitched.

This kid hasn’t even entered Hogwarts yet! And he’s already preparing to fight in Hogwarts?

Old Barty had a feeling...

This might be the most headache-inducing shopping trip he’s ever had.

Who knows how many strange requests Wesley Light would make!

As they walked to the intersection where Gringotts, the wizarding bank, was located, Wesley Light slowly stopped, seemingly trying to memorize the building.

Old Barty Crouch glanced at Wesley and introduced Gringotts: “Gringotts, the wizarding bank, is the safest place in the world outside of Hogwarts, which is guarded by Dumbledore. It is managed and operated by goblins…”

“Find a time to go inside and take a look!”

Wesley Light left the entrance of Gringotts and said slowly: “Just wait a bit longer; I hope there will be some good things there by then…”

“...”

Old Barty Crouch’s eyes twitched again.

Why does this kid sound so serious when he talks about breaking into Gringotts?

After leaving Gringotts...

The next shop was Madam Malkin’s Robes for All Occasions.

This is where Hogwarts first-years buy their school uniforms.

Wesley Light put on a wizard’s robe and suddenly said: “Can this kind of clothing be used as a sack? If someone is put inside, will it tear?”

“...”

Madam Malkin was stunned.

The plump witch couldn’t help but laugh lightly: “Dear, you really like to joke around. Hogwarts forbids fighting…”

“That’s good; I particularly like this rule.”

Wesley Light nodded seriously and pointed to the robe he was wearing: “One size larger, get me three of them…”

This was a habit from his previous life.

Mainly to get the mission reward.

[Exploration Task: Go to Madam Malkin’s Robes for All Occasions and buy a wizard’s robe (1/1), Task completed, Reward: Cleaning Spell]

[Cleaning Spell: The incantation is "Scourgify." According to the caster’s will and the magic used, it can clean any object. If the caster has sufficient magic, it can even remove objects they don’t want to exist.]

A quite... practical spell.

Wesley Light was very satisfied with these practical little spells.

Madam Malkin’s body stiffened a bit; she had never seen such an active child before and couldn’t help but say: “If it’s one size larger, won’t it be a bit too big for you...”

“I should grow quickly.”

Wesley Light took off the robe and threw it on the chair.

This scene made old Barty Crouch notice a strength in Wesley Light: this kid’s mature thinking and lack of excessive fuss, which saved time.

Because of this, they quickly bought all the items.

After Wesley Light bought the required textbooks for Hogwarts first-years at Flourish and Blotts, he finally found a way to truly master most spells.

Or rather...

Only this method could allow him to learn a spell to the point of mastery.

[Exploration Task: Go to Flourish and Blotts and buy a set of Hogwarts first-year textbooks (1/1), Task completed, Reward: Learning Method and Task]

[Learning Task: Learn a spell by reading the incantation 100 times, writing it 100 times, and reciting it 100 times, which will quickly help you master and become proficient in the spell.]

[Learning Task: Learn a potion by reading the formula 100 times, writing it 100 times, and reciting it 100 times, which will quickly help you master the potion-making process.]

This learning method made Wesley feel a mix of emotions!

Wesley Light reached out to take the bag of clothes from old Barty Crouch, handed him the thick textbooks he was holding, and sighed: “No matter where you are, learning is always a hard task…”

Wesley Light sighed about the hardships of his future, then thought about the benefits of mastering spells and continued: “Although we all know that mastering knowledge will definitely bring great joy…”
